And using the "swift-boating" slur, also despicable. We're STILL waiting for The Kerry to release his records, which he promised to do. What does he have to hide?

To a LIBERAL, ANY question of a Democrat's record or their own statements is now termed "swiftboating." How DARE we question John Kerry's time spent in Cambodia, that was seared into his memory, when his own memoirs say he wasnt near there on the date in question. The bulk of the John O'Neill's book dealt with The Kerry's UNFITNESS FOR COMMAND, based on Kerry's actions AFTER he came back from Vietnam. All ive seen are attacks on the writers of the book, and NOT much discussing the merits. Mr. Fineman would do much better if he tapped down his liberal bias, and stayed with facts, not unsubstantiated opinions.

Brilliant article, Howard. One might also add that Ms. Clinton evokes adjectives like "shrill" and "preachy" - also not warmly received qualities in national politics.

This is the most despicable thing that Fineman has said to date, and he has told some whoopers. President Bush waterboarded McCain? What is he talking about?? Is he serious. He makes waterboarding sound like a sport. If he is going to use it in this sense, then it is no longer a subject of torture, just a word to use when you want to demonize a president!

What will our darling girl do when she can't control the House. Or better yet, what sparks will fly trying to impress her agenda on the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs. Is this the best the Democratic Party can offer?
Obama, Hillary, Edwards. Hello, is anybody home?

What did your DARLING Bush do?
And just who of any value is the republican party offering? Talk about liars! They all change their positions depending on what office they are running for.

  • Posted By: ITanalyst @ 11/15/2007 2:51:51 PM

Brilliant - exactly right! One might also note her tendency to evoke adjectivess like "shrill" and "preachy." These also are not widely admired in the American political arena.

Well, TaraTrue, your post is a great example of those who would elect Billary. You make it so clear to those who can't make up their minds just what it is they can't stomach about kitchen politics. Your innocence is scary.

Hillary is the same old, same old. Those who want real change need to look to another candidate. She is a manipulator and attempts to pander to whichever group she is currently speaking to. She is more interested in benefiting herself than this country. She is no more a uniter than this current (horrible) President! Sometimes you can play it too safe, by not completely and truthfuly answering questions and addressing issues, it makes it very scarey, we don't really know what we'll get if she is elected. I don't understand the polls, I only two people who are for Hillary, perhaps they, too are being manipulated. This country is in desperate need of real change, she is definitely not the answer.

I am certain that Hillary brings a wonderful skillset to the table, but I would venture that her skillset is much more in keeping with her role as a United States Senator than as President of the United States. I believe that at this time in the history of the United States, this nation and its people -- indeed the entire world, would benefit greatly from one who demonstrates significant leadership skills and and generates extraordinary inspiration. We stand in need of someone who can chart a different course from those of the past 19 years.

Imagine the conflicts that might arise in the House when Hillary cannot impose her ideas on the Congress.
Or better yet impress her personal political stamp on the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs. How much does the public need to see the potential disaster this woman would bring to the White House? Is this the best the Democratic Party has got to offer? Obama, Hillaray, Edwards? Hello, anybody home?

  • Posted By: mikesmithcomic @ 11/15/2007 2:28:16 PM

If Hillary wants to win the nomination and the presidential election, she'll put Bill on a year long cruise with the Playboy bunnies until she is securely in the White House.

  • Posted By: Redbud9 @ 11/15/2007 9:08:55 AM

Hiliary Clinton is power hungry and I believe she only wants to be president so she can claim that place in history of being the first woman President, and so she can show Bill she can do it too. I see nothing honest or geniune, in anything she does or says. This latest display from the debates of "poor Hilitary, the men ganged up me" solidified my feelings that she can in no way handle leaders of foreign countries. I believe she stayed with her husband so she could arrive at this moment. She wanted to ride his coattails into the Senate so she could run for president. I find her utterly and completely dishonest, arrogant, self-righteous and ultimately purely politically motivated. Every sentence is measured and uttered so as not to actually take a position on an issue. Nothing will motivate me more to support the Republican candidate, than knowing she is the Democratic one. I don't feel that way about other Democractic candidates....she is highly divisive.

Hear! Hear! My feelings exactly. So, when a male leader of another country asked a question she can't annswer, does Big Bill come along with her to declare that the "guys are ganging up on poor little old Hillary?" Not good material for President of the U.S. or imagine her as Commander in Chief over all of those tough Marines? I don't think so!

This article is like most anti-Clinton opinion pieces. She is being held to a standard that no male candidate ever is. Fineman says "eyes wide shut" marriage, others say she can't run her own household. Giuliani has been married three times, including having a long-standing affair with his third wife while he was still married to his second wife. Almost all of the other candidates have been divorced. So that settles that charge. As to being a control freak, no person ever achieves a position of power without being driven to control their environment. George Bush would be better served if he did not abdicate this to Cheney. She will win, in spite of the fact that she is a woman, because the Republicans have no one who can really challenge her.

    • Posted By: Taratrue @ 11/14/2007 7:30:32 PM

You are correct. She IS being held to a much tougher standard.
      Boycott MSNBC...except for Olberman.

It's interesting how NBC/MSNBC have turned into "Anti-Hillary Networks". Apparently they are trying
to outfox FOX. Their one-sided coverage of the campaign as cost them nay credibility that they might
have had. Fineman is just a product of the Chris Matthews Hardball. He feeds Chris the stuff that Christ likes. Since Matthews is a real nincompoop, who apprently only gets his information from these
sycophants, that is the garbage that he feeds on 'Hardball". The show should be named "Goofball".
To illustrated their bias, consider that Matthews has been jumping on Hillary for being for driver's
license for illegals. He neglects to cover her entire quote where she said she didn't think all governors should be for that program but she understood why some states did. She also saids that she didn't
think all states had the same problems but she understood why they would do it. After the debate
Obama was asked whether on not he was for licensing illegals and he said he would be for it. Also,
Governor Richardson said he had already signed that into law based on the urging of law enforrcement.
But, Matthews only lcriticized Hillary's "waffling". Next, in one debate when asked if he would negotiate
with Iran and Syria withoug preconditions he said yes. Hillary said she would not promise that as there
has to groundwork at a lower level and some agreement as to what will be on the table and what the
chances would be for successful negotiations. Guess what? On Meet the Press last Suncday, when
asked by Tim Russert if he still felt that way, Obama said yes, but of course there would have to be
some low level groundwork, an agreeable agenda and a chance for success. That is supposed to
be "without conditions" as he accused Clinton of not being willing to talk wtih our enemies. Again,
you'll find none of that reported by the MSNBC boys. Lastly, Obama countinusally goast about being against the Iraq war right from the start. and criticizes everyone that voted to attach Iraq is diplomace
didn't work out. However, in 2004, when he was running for U.S. Senate, in an interview he said that
since he wasn't in the Senate at the time and didn't have access to intelligence briefins and material
he wasn't sure how he would have voted. Apparently, he made his decision based on no facts, just
a feeling. Of course, Fineman, Matthews and the other clueless host, Tucker Carlson, don't consider
that newsworthy. Like I said earlier, MSNBC's Matthews and Carlson, and NBC's Russert have no
credibility left because of their complete and open bias.

Further, it now comes to light that Rudy had another mistress while was still married and had
at least one mistress that we previously knew about.. On September 10, 2001, Rudy couldn't
have been elected dogcatcher. Since than, he has done nothing except brag about the 19 hours
he spent on the site over the following 3 months! He only went there while escorting the press or
visitors and got plent of photo ops with mask walking thro the area. He's a loud mouth phony!

As a Republican, I sure hope she gets the nomination.

    • Posted By: Taratrue @ 11/15/2007 1:10:35 PM

As a Democrat, I do too.

  • Posted By: srubenstein @ 11/14/2007 3:10:36 PM

Let me start out by saying I'm a Hillary supporter. Her experience, candor, and knowledge leads me to believe she'd make a great President. However, one can be a supporter but be disappointed in a campaign. Something like planting questions in a town hall meeting was so stupid that the person responsible was either someone who was deliberately trying to undermine a campaign or just to stupid to be involved with one in the first place. Hillary needs fo help in answering the important questions of the day. Russert was hard on her but that's the deal in a campaign and I'm sure she'll provide a better impression the next time. Let's face it, Obama hasn't been all that great in numerous debates to date. Edwards spends more time running against Hillary then the Bush Administration and their policies. My advice to Hillary is to get her campaign on track and focus on her strengths. Her ability to get hard problems solved, her experience and knowledge of what the American people are facing in this very problemic world. The media just loves to pounce on the mistakes so she has to give them only one thing, NO MISTAKES.

    • Posted By: julianbook @ 11/14/2007 10:22:54 PM

Completely absurd to speak of her "ability to get hard problems solved". Her only major attempt was health care in 1993 - an unmitigated disaster and sham - as she is totally bought off by the very opponents to it. And what about the Iraq and Iran votes. Her incompetence and dishonesty is costly to Americans. Obama is the only brilliant, competent and honest one in the Democratic race.

      • Posted By: norpoul @ 11/15/2007 12:53:51 PM

Isn't it odd that the nation is NOW ready for universal healthcare and won'd be scared off by the
medical profession's billion doll ad campaign of 1994. She was right and got beat by the
Republicans and the medical profession who didn't want to see a reduction in their extravagant
        fees.

    • Posted By: julianbook @ 11/14/2007 10:17:04 PM

It's completely absurd to speak of her "ability to get hard problems solved" - as the only thing significant that she ever tried was health care in 1993, and that was an unmitigated failure. Add to that her votes concerning Iraq and Iran, lack of a social security program, etc., lies and trianglation - just shows that she is completely incompetent.

Your character assessment may explain a poll I received in my email. As a female, never-mis-a-caucus Iowa Democrat, I have quite a lot of contact with all the candidates. This poll was billed as a poll about the Democratic candidateS. What it turned out to be was a series of videos. One depicting a women explaining why I should caucus for Hillary Clinton (c\simply because I am a woman). Another showing one woman explaining the caucus process to another and how she should attend the caucus just to support Hillary. The "poll" wanted to know how persuasive I found the various videos. Not very. The notion that women should support anyone for arguably the most important job in the world merely on the basis of gender is insulting at the very least. I believe that, all things being equal, a woman would make a great president. But all things are NOT equal. The idea of another Clinton vs. the Republican attack machine is depressing and I choose not to live through it again. Bill Clinton did a great job with the economy while he was President, but the negativity overshadowed even that. My candidate is John Edwards. Talk about leading by example! Edwards spent his time since the 2004 election working to help people: helping to raise the minimum wage in seven states, helping Katrina victims, starting a College for Everyone program in NC, his poverty center work, and others. I want a leader who has the grace to recognize he doesn't know everything about everything, but the smarts to learn from experts and put what he has learned into practice to help America.

    • Posted By: norpoul @ 11/15/2007 12:46:40 PM

It's interesting that you think so highly of Edwards since he has never accomplished anything politically.
he made a lot of money as a shyster lawyer and, but that is it. He was so bad as a Senator, that he
couldnt't be reelected. As a Vice President candidate, he couldn't carry his own state or even his own
      voting district.

    • Posted By: Redbud9 @ 11/15/2007 9:16:00 AM

Sany from Iowa: If John Edwards is your candidate, please do a bit of further research before committing to his candidacy. We here in NC find him to be one of the most useless senators ever. His display of "I'm just a regular guy who grew up with a father working at the mill is pure b.s. All those events you mentioned in your article about the good things he has done since 2004 were PURELY politically motivated. He knew he had to have something useful to point to when he runs in '08, so he set out to actually do something he could point to. He has absolutely no experience running ANYTHING in private or public life. Now he wants to run the COUNTRY?!!!! No way!

If all you Hillary Haters would have gone after Dubya, Cheney and Rove when it became obvious that they got us into an unnecessary, unending and futile war by lying to the MSM and to patriotic Americans, both Dubya and Cheney would have been impeached a long time ago. Why weren't you vicious at that time. Here is something for all of us to worry about: Cheney goes to "work" daily, what does he do in his office? How much more damage will he be able create before he leaves arm in arm with his subordinate in 09?

  • Posted By: Al B Quirk @ 11/15/2007 12:31:42 PM

If the Hillary Haters had been as vicious towards Rove, Cheney, and Dubya when it became obvious to the MSM and patriotic Americans that they collaborated to get us into an unending, useless war, and lied to do it, plus manipulated our Constitution to suit their needs, Cheney and Bush would have been impeached a long time ago! Where were you when you really could have done what is BEST for America?

This article is SPOT ON. You nailed it, Howard. But what's up with all the Fineman haters? That's undeserved. As stated previously on this board, the emotions present here that are elicited by Hillary are more than enough proof that she doesn't stand a chance in the general election. She (along with most of the Democrats and the media) is dreaming.

Comment: Where do you come up with this crap Fineman? You jusst joined the ranks of all the other BS'ers out there who pull crap out of their behinds in an attempt to shoot down Hillary. This Iowa Farmer thinks you and your types are afeared of women and will take any opportunity to keep one from getting the Presidency. Hillary, like a lot of us down to earth folks, believes this country can be a hell of a lot better than its been and some of the issues are as old as the boomers. To label this woman as being a control freak because she wants our country to live up to the vision we were taught in school while growing up, is akin to saying that a Priest is a control freak for wanting to convert sinners. The reason why I support Hillary is because she is a fighter and I believe she shares the same sense of fairness that I do. So what about the other candidates, which happen to all be men? They have no faults that you can see? Hillary is such an easy target because the MSM has made her to be that way. The MSM does not like strong women, that's as apparent as it is on how its reporting stereotypes blacks. Me thinks you good 'ole boys in the MSM are scared to death of a strong woman which makes you unworthy to be listened to. The woman has to appear twice as good as the man she's compared with to be considered half as good. Who the hell is Howard Fineman to put a spin on someone like Hillary? What is it with you so-called journalists putting yourselves above candidates for public office? Tim Russert is the worst, several reporters at CNN and FOX come in 2nd. Then there are the Rush Limbaughs and Ann Coulters out there that should have a gag order placed on them. Its a sin that we allow people like them air time. Why is it the news has turned to pure crap. No checks and balances, no footnotes, no credits, simply take them for their word because they are self proclaimed prophets, or rather, give them enough publication or airtime for name recognition, then let them go spread propaganda. I tell you I'm sick of it. You better hope someone like me does not end up with power as the first thing I'd do is put rules on the media. I'm not saying take away freedom of speech, but if you can't show data to support what you say, you don't say it. Because you can afford airtime does not mean you will be given it. News reporting, back when it was unbiased reporting, used to have my respect. As far as I'm concerned the media outlets are spawning Pat Robertsons left and right, and shame on us as a Nation for allowing it. Me thinks you speak untruths about Hillary and I disrespectfully request that you cease this line of B.S.
