America will always land into troubles as long sa they don't get rid of zionist(khazarian telmudic jews)policy makers in the Whitehouse.
The costs of the Iraq war are not only astronomical, as a new Congressional report shows, they are unconscionable. So who's going to pay?

So, did everyone forget who invaded the US with 9/11? I don't like war but it is providing military jobs and manufacturing jobs for the provisions they need. This does not justify war, and the people who suffer. However, it is the heretics teaching radicalism and hatred for the US, etc. that are to blame--similar to a Hitler movement-brainwashing as they have no knowledge of us unless we are there helping. And since all of big business has mostly eliminated pensions and requires you to contribute money if you want health insurance, why don't government jobs and political positions require the same? After all, our taxes pay their salaries and pensions and medical benefits and protection, too. The next time you hear a politician use the word 'billion'
in a casual manner, think about whether you want the
'politicians' spending YOUR tax money.
A billion is a difficult number to comprehend, but one
advertising agency did a good job of putting that figure
into some perspective in one of its releases:
A. A billion seconds ago it was 1959.
B. A billion minutes ago Jesus was alive.
C. A billion hours ago our ancestors were living in the Stone Age.
D. A billion days ago no-one walked on the earth on two feet.
E. A billion dollars ago was only 8 hours and 20 minutes, at the rate our government is spending it.
W hile this thought is still fresh in our brain, let's take a look at New Orleans. It's amazing what you can learn with some simple division.
Louisiana Senator, Mary Landrieu (D), is presently asking the Congress for $250 BILLION to rebuild New Orleans.
Interesting number, what does it mean?
A. Well, if you are one of 484,674 residents of New Orleans (every man, woman, child), you each get $516,528.
B. Or, if you have one of the 188,251 homes in New Orleans , your home gets $1,329,787.
C. Or, if you are a family of four, your family gets $2,066,012.
Just some more liberal media to lower our troop moral even lower. Good job, Newsweek your campain to get our soldiers killed is working. You ignorant bigots think conservatives want to slow down progress. Get real. Have any of you soldier hating retards ever stop and think how to win this war instead of complaining about how it started? Look at what year it started and look at what year it is now. HEY IT ALREADY STARTED SO HOW ABOUT WE FINISH IT. And you can't just leave. Leaving over several years is alright but leaving in a year, like most ignorant liberals think, lacks common sense. As soon as our troops start to leave, violence will increase. Iran, Turkey, Syria, terrorists, and the black market will flood into the country when we're out. Do you want that instead? You can not leave Iraq until it is either stable or has a strong and stable government, police force, and military; things Iraq currently lacks.
To hairamerican:
Why are you so dumb? If you think Bush is a war criminal than you must think Neville Chamberlain is a war criminal too because his government declared war on Germany which cost the brits a couple hundred thousand lives, and possibly hundreds of thousands of German civilians? Oh and I suppose Allied airmen are war criminals because the carpet bombed Germany and Japan, which costed at the most a million civilian lives, right? No , then you must be a hypocrite, an extremely ignorant one. To bad they don't try people because of stupidity.
To outsideopinion:
You really know nothing about America or the American goverment do you? FYI, we don't have to be like you. We don't have to change like you did. Just because we didn't change governments in the last 100 years, dosn't mean we need to change now because some non-Americans don't like our laws or government. (re-read ours a couple of times until you get it into your thick skull) Why is it you non-Americans always find another exuse to hate us? Because we're different and want to keep our traditions? Because we're proud of our history and actaully can be? Really, I'm sick of non-
Americans accusing us of being arrogant and ignorant or stereotype us as being fat or rednecks because of what they see on the media or becuase of 200 year old grudges. Grow up, you ignorant fools.
ABOUT THE KIND OF RHETORIC i WOULD EXPECT FROM A NEO-CON HICK. Notce there is no actual refutation to any of the claims made by the people he attacked. How very...republican of you. In fact, you should be proud. You pulled a total and complete bushie by deflecting the actual point of the comments and trying to make it about national pride and the troops. You are a pathetic person, and I am actually contemplating GOING to hell so I can hear you whine about how you could possibly have gotten there.
I'm not a Republican stupid and thanks for the stereotype. Now you just proved what kind of person you really are. Unable to think logically because of blind hatred. Go read what you said and tell me who is more pathetic.
What was the point of bushbot babble? Those who opposed the war from the start are the ones responsible for the deaths it has caused?
It all boils down to this. There was no reason to rush to war with Saddam, who we once supported, just because he MIGHT have had a few leftover WMD (so called) which nobody could find while countries like Iran CERTAINLY do.
History 101 For Total Dummies should have told anyone with half a brain Iraq would likely be a costly quagmire before the war. Bush NEVER gave anything close to a justification for diverting from getting those who attacked us on 9/11 to secular Saddam.
The pathetic democracy excuse for the war certainly does not cut it either. The chances of that country holding together, let alone a stable democracy emerging, are slime to none and would not be worth the costs even it it did.
The Republican party will pay. They have already paid some, and they will pay more. When we as a nation figure out we should not be paying proportionately more for defense than other industrialized nations, we will have reached enlightenment. But as long as we have this "we're number one"mentality, greatest nation in the world, gotta pay to keep that designation way of thinking, we will be bled to death, as the Soviets were. If we buy the "we've got to remain strong rhetoric, strong at any cost, we are doomed.
i think this is an awesome well written article. what is he doing USARMY, you ask? he's writing about it and writing about the truth. I bet you are from somwhere in the midwest, and blindly follow whatever leader is telling you what to do. i bet it has been a dream for you since you were a boy to be "like your grandpa" and GO da war!!! just so you know, my cousin served in Iraq and was in the midst of a lot of trauma, violence and bombing. he had to man a machine gun on top of a hum-v. he's from southern california and came back a changed man. he said out there the midwestern rooted soldiers blindly follow anything they're told and don't question anything themselves. no offense, USARMY, i support the troops, and by supporting them i want them out. i think you know as well as i that most people joining the army are from low income, lower class families, and use it perhaps for an education. don't you see that once you are out of Iraq Bush and everyone involved in your life right now authoritarian wise are not going to give two shits about you once this is over? i bet that in 40 years from now, you will be singing a different tune. you will be wondering why you, an Iraq veteran, aren't treated that way, you will wonder why you aren't being helped money wise, health wise, etc. you will see your fellow soldiers on the sides of streets holding up "iraq vet, need food" signs while driving up onto a freeway. then and only then will you be able to retrospectively look back and and think hmmm, "laziness and liberals" was not the problem, radicals and republicans were. the american public isn't lazy, our government and media are corrupt. while this war parallels vietnam, media involvement does not. it is well known that the public didn't become angry and shocked until pictures of their own dead and blown up soldiers made front page on the newspapers. nowadays, i turn on CNN and see updates on Lindsey Lohans sobriety. if anything should make you sick, it should be that. i don't think the american public is lazy, i think we are just looking for a leader. someone to stand up and make their voice heard and tell us what it is we need to do to make changes. i am not pleased with the democrats who, after taking back the senate, can't seem to make a dent. how is it that republicans were able to totally demoralze and bash president clinton after the sex scandal, but after all that is known about the corruption in bush's administration, democrats still can't get it done. vietnam was a different time as well because, unlike today, they didn't have an emerging worldwide fear of the disintegrating environment. the american public, sadly enough, does have more selfish things to worry about nowadays like mortgage, rising gas prices, and fires and hurricans caused by global warming. we need a leader, and unfortunately right now, it seems we have a fascist leader. the day corporations get a heart may be the day our world might find an equilibrium.
Fortony, may I ask you what you have done to make a change? The great thing about America is that everyday citizens can come together and change things. But the problem with Americans such as yourself is that you want others to fix everything instead of doing it yourself. Americans are lazy people and unless they have a realtive in the War then they really don't care abou it. They eat their Cheerios, watch their CNN and say over 3,850 Soldiers have died from hostile action, that's terrible, but then continue on their hum drum lives instead of making a difference. I support America, I believe in us as a Country and I believe in the War, we are doing great things, but the liberals want the military to lose so that they can say "I told you so"..... Laziness and liberals just sicken me, walk in my combat boots for a day, then maybe I will value your opinion!
Guilty, you are kidding? This gang brags about the destruction it has done! This is ideological purity, the government is reduced to being an ATM for corporate interests and provides bread and circuses for the religious crowd by propaganda clowns using slapstick rethoric...gotta love it and America. A country of buffoons, religious flackes, and military geeks; high on ignorance and fortunately high on incomtepence.
Those who opposed the war may not be responsible for the deaths it has caused. Morally though, they cannot walk away from it now any more than they could walk away from the victims a train wreck which they did not cause. What"s in the past is in the past. It cannot be changed. Whatever the reason for the mistakes the administration made, all of us have a responsibility to clean up our mess. It will surely be infinitely harder than the dimwits who got us into this ever imagined.
Hitler was many things but he was never ignorant, ingnorance will never really hurts us; it may hurt itself in regards of its on existence. So if you stand up against something do it where it counts, because we all know that ignorant people don't even count in this day and age. And by the way thanks (hkmcs) for enlightening me on a enless quest of pure rhetoric even though sometimes one can even find that momentarily interesting.
Oh and t9900 thanks for the mental stimulation, have a great day. (i have satiated my hogging appetite for expression)
But Hitler was extremly ignorant. The worlds most ignorant in fact. thats why he failed to take over Russia, North Africa, and the Uk.
First off, I would like to apologize to T9900, he raised my hackles with all of the us vs. them crap that seems to permeate these boards any more. It was wrong of me to attack him (or her?) personally. Furthermore, he is right. Simply bringing all of the troops home isn't the answer either. We backed the administration and their rhetoric unquestioningly after 9/11. Since then, more information has surfaced on a number of levels concerning the verascity and accuracy of the intelligence that has led us into this debacle. Leaving now would cause more suffering and trouble than staying will, by far.
So what is the solution? There really isn't one. Just like ou can't put the genie back in the bottle, or unscrew a pregnant woman, we are stuck with the course of action WE APPROVED overwhelmingly just a few short years ago. The ultra liberals will whine about the casualties and suffering. The Conservatives go on about patriotism and national security. They are both only pushing agendas. The democrats (including our newest crop of presidential contenders) all supported the war when it was fashionable, but now that blood is in the water, are using it for political gain. The average American DOES care, in a distant uncaring kind of way, But I can speak for myself and almost everyone I know when I say we are all more worried about our paychecks and making end's meet than the plight of VOLUNTEER soldiers sent over during a POPULAR war. Just because we have gotten a little squeamish about dismembered soldiers, executed iraquis, and soaring war spending, doens't suddenly create an imperative to "undo" what's been done.
On the other hand, republican suck-ups who are simply toeing the party line because that's "what they do" aren't helping either. Neither side is REALLY interested in bargaining. They just want the other to agree that they are right....like THAT'S going to happen. Our troops are demoralized because they don't want to be there. Can you blame them? It sucks in Iraq, I've been there (whirlwind tour of 7 middle eastern countries back in '99). Obviously none of you are there. Any of you actually WANT to go? I mean really, BS aside? If you still do, I'll wager it's because of a sense of "duty?" I'm not going to impugn your honor, that's on you.
Hear me now, the next president WILL be a democrat. The writing is on the wall. The next senate will probably be democrat as well. Major health care reform WILL happen before the end of the decade, but we still will not be out of Iraq. The mission will change, blame will be assigned, but the political and logistical reality is that we are there for at least 5 more years. Any of you older (40+) readers will know the only exception to this prediction...remember the shah? Look where that got us.
Sorry if I have rambled a bit...it's just how I flow. NOW, let the stoning begin!
I agree with you all the way. There really isn't a solution to Iraq. Like it or not, out troops will be there for at least 5 more years. The final cost will be about 5,000 US lives and $2-5 trillion, while the liberals whine, the conservatives wax patriotic, and the rest of us go on with our lives. When all is said and done, the war doesn't really affect most of us here at home, and most of us have more pressing concerns than some faraway war. Those who go there do so out of choice, and those who stay here do so out of choice. Nothing wrong with that. As Mr. Dickey described, there are substantial opportunity costs of the Iraq War, but there is nothing that can be done about it. Let the GOP have their war, just leave me out of it.
I must disagree with you on one point. I have no real confidence in major health care reform by the end of this decade. The problem is just too large, and the stakes too high. Too much to describe briefly. See the link below for a rundown.

I don't think Americans have anything against Conservatives per se. This administration's main problem is their dishonesty. If people had known what the real story in Iraq was (Saddam did not have WMD's) we would NEVER have approved of the war.
We don't mind paying the price for an honest mistake. It's the deception practiced by the Bushies, from Iraq to Katrina to fired US attorneys, leaking classified info to the press, illegal wiretaps and the list goes on.
These people are crooks and those who defend them are enablers, the same as someone who watches a crime being committed and does nothing. Bush will wipe his feet on the GOP as he leaves office, another failed venture under his belt.
I hope the Republicans wake up before their party is destroyed.
Like some of you already said, George W. Bush should be tried in an international court marshal or a trial just like Saddam's was! Saddam Housien and Adolf Hitler were both great men. A bit savage, yes... but nobody can deny that in their times their contries made progress and developed greatly for better or for worse. America on the other hand has it's strength and economical power greatly diminished... figure that out. t9900, you said you cant join the military right now. why not? not old enough? i'm just curious...
and maybe our national anthem should change to "the missle blasting banner" cuz that's what we really do. we bull other nations into submission. iraq is exactly like vietnam... dont believe me? look at the similarites.
I would be the last person to try to make the case that Iraq was anything other than a tragic mistake. All of the finger pointing in the world about who is responsible will not erase the simple fact that no responsible person can really believe that the way to mitigate a mistake is simply to say ???oops??? and walk away. I doubt that our trial lawyer candidate, John Edwards, ever let anyone walk away with a simple ???oops???. It may make the administration???s opponents feel better to get their pound of flesh by humiliating the principals in this administration, or by impeaching them or, even better, reviving the good old Roman crucifixion. But it will not mitigate the damage that has been done. Surely, wars are not to be entered into lightly ??? maybe the Bush-Cheney chickenhawks never understood this. But our societal belief that if you wage ???just??? wars that everything will be clear and clean is simply not supported by history. Other than perhaps Grenada, I don???t believe we have ever waged war anywhere that did not result in nearly permanent occupation of the host country ??? we were still defending Berlin nearly 50 years after we won that war. We continue to occupy Korea. We did get out of Vietnam by losing that war. And yet opponents of this war want to pack up and leave in the wink of an eye. Sure we can do it. But it is not reasonable to believe that we can do it without compounding many times over the suffering we have already visited on that place. We made the mess ??? it is morally unthinkable to walk away without cleaning it up ??? whatever the price. In the end Bush and Cheney will undoubtedly get all the ignominy they deserve. If they get what they want, Reid and Pelosi will end up as the creators of the final lasting image of this conflict ??? people who thought they could count on the USA clinging to the last helicopter out of Baghdad.. Shame.
The tone and tenor of most of the comments here is a reminder that in the United states (as elsewhere) the median I.Q is around 100. That's just about enough to enable one to balance a checkbook or operate an XBox, but a standard deviation or two less than required to think outside the issues as framed by the White House and its compliant media stooges. When I read comments like those of Mr. t9900, I'm pretty sure that Alexander Hamilton was right about the dangers of democracy.
its not my ignorance that is a threat to knowledge, it's the illusion of knowledge that threaten us all my wise opponent who knows it all, and watch what you say to other's. it just may make their day go just a little bit bettter. i've no reason to argue based on no fact of anyone. aggressive wow! what a hero
Have I ever suggested I know it all, or do you assume that?
I'm allowed to be aggresive. In fact if we were not aggresive during the late 1700s we wouldn't have gsined independents. If France and the UK were not aggresive, Hitler would have taken Poland, the low countries, scandinavia, and the balkans unopposed.
