Amazing that this blog thread quickly left the subject and became a Rohrschach test for people's opinions about blacks vs. whites, Europeans vs. Americans, etc. Given the barbarous history behind every group and the omnipresent evidence that every group is still quite capable of barbarisms, maybe that line of argument should just be buried. That said, little about this case strikes me as incomprehensible - a "good", little girl from America (who apparently has some underlying issues) goes abroad, hooks up with a Euro with some peculiar issues of his own, and together they create a murderous synergy in which the African immigrant may or may not have been involved and/or in which he may have been a catalyst (providing the titillation of inter-racial rape). Meanwhile, the British female victim is chosen because she is both near and an outsider, a convenient "prop" with which to act out their disturbing fantasies. When, however, they've had their "fun", they realize that she is now a threat and they kill her to hide their actions but do so in such a way that they cannot help but be implicated. This is a highly "disordered" murder - a spur of the moment crime, likely impelled by personality flaws in the prime participants which will become increasingly clear as the case evolves.

The media is partly responsible for this trash, with most movies being so violent that "normal" people can't stand it. Our kids are desensitized to violence and rough sex through movies and video games and our economy is such that both parents, if there are two anymore, are gone from home to earn a living so no one is supervising our youth. This is a modern day Lord of the Flies. It's horrid and sad, and perhaps more pervasive than one wants to imagine.

Noone FORCES a person to commit a crime. It does NOT matter what color their skin is...whether white, black, yellow, green.....NOR does a crime pick a woman or man to commit it. It takes A WILLING PERSON....to DECIDE to do it. It's a CHOICE! When are people going to STOP trying to play that PITY PARTY CARD....of RACE!! EVERY RACE....is capable of committing crimes. NONE OF US ARE PERFECT!! We can't control anyones judicial system NOR can they control OURS! If you have a BRAIN at all....you'd want WHOEVER committed this horrible crime to be brought to justice! There was a LIFE taken and now there's a family to grieve for her. We should all be grieving for this young woman! If ALL you're worried about IS YOUR PRECIOUS RACE....then obviously you are insecure about it! I don't care if a little green alien from SPACE DID IT.....I'd want them to be brought to justice! And those of you morons who'll write back and say that I believe in litte green men?.....get a life! You know the point I was trying to make..... I don't know of ANY country who has perfect people living in them who are incapable of committing crimes....do you? Whatever person did this....CHOSE to do it. Their gender didn't MAKE them do it.....THEIR SKIN COLOR did not MAKE them do it...... Are you getting the point here? Some people just like to whine and complain and couldn't know right from wrong if it were to walk up to them and slap them across the face....becaue they're just DUMB or simply DON'T CARE!!

It is obvious that at times a person is able to do things that no one would expect then to do. It is basically impossible to know the spontanious actions of anybody, even with technology, history, knowledge of that person etc. What we all need to consider is that one must be aware of any situation and judge wether it is safe or not. That ability to know such sercumstances can be learned if someone wants to learn it. If you really want trouble, lets face it, you can find it easily. Life can be fun, safe and healthy if so desired...

Wow. Judging from these comments, as Americans, we MUST become more intellectually curious! Is it possible that, in the year 2007, we are this short-sighted and racist? NO ONE yet knows what happened in this case... PLEASE! Know that race is simply the shell that humans wear. That's it. It's that simple... REALLY. Do not mass generalizations about ANY two people... ANYWHERE. Every last person in this world is completely unique. PERIOD.

Well that was a moronic tirade in itself goner79. The judicial systems and your obvious bias and mistrust against them have nothing to do with this article. The defendants have yet to be tried, so you have no basis to criticize the Italian judicial system, and the fact that this crime did not occur on American soil should omit any reason to call in the American judicial system. The fact is, the media, and I am far from a fan of theirs, posted the information as they have received and perceived it, and until it is before a judge and or jury, it is your right to form your own opinion. It is a horrible thing when a young person loses their life, whether or not it was being lived correctly or not, the fact is everything that person has, and is evergoing to have, has now been taken away from her.

TThey probably did do it. And if that is the case they need to burn. What is the deal with people and their exhileration with doing evil ***. It's ridiculous and people need to start having their crazy ass heads checked.

Let's forget about race, a young woman was killed brutally and needlessly, all these evil people involved need to be put away forever, so they don't do it to someone else. If they think they can get away with it, who knows how many more people are in danger that they come in contact with. I just pray that justice is served, if not here, they will eventually answer to someone higher. I feel sorry for them, and I feel sorry for their families. Most of all I wanted to vomit when I read what they did to her, and I believe in an eye for an eye. And regardless who uses the race card young or old, they need to wake up and smell the roses, I truly feel sorry for the people who are prejudice, because they will never be truly happy with themselves nevertheless others, so they need a reality check.

I hate how half the people who comment on these stories are idiots. Don't you have anything better to do with you time than to start a racism war? This is not about race, this is about a brutal murder. And not one of you has mentioned anything about the poor victim. Take your hatred somewhere else, I'm sure there's a forum for that somewhere on the internet...

this case has absolutely nothing to do about race. comments like "The white community in America needs to address the issue of why they're raising daughters without morals." is just plain ignorant. whatever happened to just people/parents raising their children with morals? quit finger-pointing and look deep.
