Billary. That's all we need as a nominee who'll never win the general election. Same fools who thought Kerry would win b/c of his experience. Bah!

Idiot democrats. Blew it by not having Howard Dean be the nominee in 2004; now again in 2008, the dumb Dems will put up Hillary against Romney or Guiliani. Great; another 8 years of Republican Rule and 40 years of Right-wing Supreme Court; thanks to idiot mainstream, hard-liner Democrats and stupid women who'll vote for HIllary just b/c she's a woman.

No, we vote for Hillary because she is the best person for the job. A change of perspective can come from having a woman at the helm. A woman, mother, professional. A woman carries the future in her body and can carry the USA to the future as well.

Check the difference of funding btwn Obama and Hillary and the truth becomes self evident. Obama was gutsy raising the majority of his money from everyday citizens, while Hillary honeymoons lobbyists, special interests, and big business.. By itself, this speaks volumes about how the wrong choice could extend a disastrous 8 years to 12. We need a new type of leader - one with backbone as well as a moral compass.

Obama does not get ALL his money from the small individuals, unless you count those big Hollywood people who make big bucks per picture the little people. I also need to point out that I contribute $10 per month to Hillary Clinton's campaign (and my "Little" amount has been accepted each month). I appreciate being thought of as a special interest or lobbiest but the reality is I work in public accounting (althougha a public accounting is what I am looking for!

if given a choice between diamonds and pearls--i would choose having my light bill paid and not worrying that its going to get cut off. Thats my point dont waste time with stupid questions--it wasnt her fault they asked the question--those who did should be ashamed of themselves.

Hillary Clinton can stand on her own two feet. She is measured and thoughtful in what she does, and does consider the greater good. She was not raised with a silver spoon in her mouth, so in spite of the diamond and pearls statement (and what women wouldn't take both, given the choice!) she has lived life from the struggle stand point not just from an affluent position so is more balance in looking at what the general population needs. The men of the USA have had their chance. Let's see what a woman, mother, professional can do. This woman is smart!

As an aside, could we think about limiting what is spent on a campaign to what the winner will earn in the term they are pursuing? If the campaign cost were more limited special interests would not be as big a part of our political dynamics and the positions of power would be more available to all the citizens of the USA and not just the elite class with good friends with deep pockets.

I am glad to see Ms. Clinton show some courage too, and play with the winning card, but also it was time to stop "the boys". I liked Edwards when he ran with Kerry, but I dislike the current Edwards now. Obama is not convincing, and last night proved that he felt he was loosing some ground, look at his eyes showing how nervous he was. If I were Hillary, I would select Biden for vice-president and avoid having Edwards or Obama as runnig mates after seeing the mud they have tried to put on Hillary. Bravo Hillary, welcome back to the race!!!!! ( well, to be honest, you were never out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

I was unable to watch the beginning of the debate last night but did catch a good bit of it. Somehow I feel I must have been watching a different debate than the people who are reporting on it. I agree Clinton did not get bashed like before and that Obama and Edwards did not really stand out but where's the coverage on the rest of the pack. Oh, and Biden would never get my vote. I have read and heard opinions that he was the only "grown-up" on stage. Perhaps the biggest snob, but that's all. His answer to giving incentives to teachers who exceed was to tell teachers to go spend a small fortune and half of your life in getting masters and docterats?!? That's what his wife did he said. But let's think...maybe his wife had the time and money to be able to continue going to school---money the majority of teachers will never have. What an idiot! Also, where is the coverage of the guy from Ohio? Kucinich or something like that. He impressed me in his straight to the point answers and oh yeah, his record! Why isnt there any coverage of him telling everyone last night that he thinks people aren't illegal--they're human...and about calling out the others on the trade deals they approved, the war they approved, etc. He is alot more interesting to me because he seems to already have a record of doing what is in the best interest of our country. Granted I am going to try to find out more about him because quite frankly I didn't know who he ws until last night--and it seems like the media and special interests want to keep it that way. As far as Clinton being asked diamonds or pearls---I can barely afford to get my kids to the Title 1 school they have to attend because of gas prices, inflation, and unfair trade practices that are taking all of our jobs away. Screw her diamonds and pearls--its not funny and it didnt belong in the debate--not when my family and others are struggling as we are.Everyone is right Power to the People in 08 Its time to take this country back!

My God, the real headline should be "HILLARY SUED FOR LARGEST CAMPAIGN FRAUD CONTRIBUTION IN HISTORY" (California lawsuit) Get a grip author. Who is paying you to write this garbage? You are part of the problem that is destroying our great nation. We are in a state of turmoil and yet you keep talking to us like we are idiots. Well, guess what, we aren't all ignorant fools. Howard, in Southern California $97,000 is the middle class and barely at that. To qualify for a home at the current median price a household needs to earn approximately $150,000 per year. Its amazing how out of touch politicians and the MSM are about how much it costs these days for a family to barely make ends meet. Its probably been a long time since you and the upper class have had to make the hard choices between providing food and shelter for ones family, paying astronomical health care costs let alone saving for retirement.: Here is an example how much it really costs to live these days:

    $97,000-Family of three
    -28% taxes
-$1850 for rent (Home is approximately 1200 SF, 3 bedrooms, no air conditioning/ one full bath)
-$750 per month in health insurance/dental
-$350 per month for one car payment (Wifes auto/I havent purchased a new car in 12 years)
-$200 per month for car insurance
-$250+ per month for electricity and gas
    -$866 food costs ($200 per week *4.33)
    -$433 for fuel ($100 per weel *4.33)
-$120 cell phone (we have no land line/family plan)
-$175 cable/internet (so we can watch you on MSNBC and read Newsweek online)

That leaves $190 per week for savings, clothes, pocket money, vacations etc (What is a vacation???).....Thank God I dont use credit cards!!!!

Wake up Howard. A revolution is afoot and people are simmering with real anger!!!! The American dream is dead and we have all been sold a bill of goods. The above budget is conservative at best.

Geez I don't see my comment about what the REAL headline should be about this fraud. Oh that's right, the media is paid off to be quiet about such things. (America isn't as ignorant as you think) China and Turkey have lots of money to sell out America too, right along with wallstreet, criminals, special interests, corporations, insurance companies, the military industrial complex and last but not least, let us not forget all the sheeple who are hypnotized by their sheeple visions in their living rooms, Have you guys gotten your check from China yet for all the "great" work you are doing for us "true" everyday Americans?

  • Posted By: kool_baby777 @ 11/16/2007 12:44:55 PM

OMG who is writing this guys paycheck, the Chinese government? The HEADLINES today should be "BIGGEST CAMPAIGN FRAUD IN HISTORY BY ANY PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE - HILLARY CLINTON"
The latest lawsuit filed against this fraud is in the state of California. Cmon sheeples, turn the channel on the sheeple tube (you know that thing in your living rooms with push button remote). TURN THE CHANNEL PERMANENTLY!!!! RON PAUL 2008 My god, let's stop embarrassing ourselves around the world. STAND UP for once in your lives for everything you believe in.

For those of us who live in a coastal state like California (yes its a choiec to live here i know) or new york, or florida, or even Chicagoland, 97 thousand a year IS the middle class. When home prices are still averaging almost 300K, and gas is at almost 4 dollars a gallon, 97K is the middle class.

Hillary was once again back on top of her game. She dominated the night, pointed out inconsistancies in the attack-dogs' campaigns(some of the same things their campaigns and chris matthews rail at her for). What tickled me the most about the whole event was that Obama, on his very first comment, attacked Hillary on the driver's license issue and social security. Yet when it came time for him to give an answer about licenses he waffled. Then a little fact checking on hissocial security positions shows that he gave Stephanopoulis one plan, retracted in a campaign posting, changed it again while campaigning, then waffled on Meet The Press, finally saying that he would have a bipartisan meeting. Sure sounds like the same position Hillary has been advocating from the start and for which he attacks her.. What I find amazing is that anyone would even consider Obama or Edwards viable candidates, they are truly out o their league. I also found it funny that people defended the moderators in Philly when there was an obvious strategy to go after Hillary (including Chris Matthews who has done all he can to derail Mrs. Clinton's campaign) and then they suggest that there was this big conspiracy by CNN and Wolf Blitzer to defend Hillary and go after Obama and Edwards. Comments on "First Read" even go as far as saying the audience were plants by the Clintons because they booed Obama and Edwards when they didn't answer questions, but instead tried to attack Clinton. Regardless of the media hype that candidates need to get rough with each other ( I imagine for the self-serving purpose of having a story line the following day) most peoplehate the negativity andmudslinging. It wasn't just a few years ago, the media was all over candidates for going negative. They should live by the same standards they insist from the candidates...you can't have it both ways! On a side note to you Howard: You need to stop coddling Chris Matthews and his psychopathic obsession to bring Hillary dow. I mean this guy criticizes her for having a campaign slogan "turn up the heat". I mean come on! How much of a non-issue is that? You are right to criticize her when she errs in judgement or when you disagree with her on the issues. But I would expect a well respected journalist such as yourself would call Matthews out on hisdistortion of her campaign and his disingenuous parsing of everything she says or does. Americans are a lot smarter than what that guy gives them credit for, and you do yourself a great disservice by patronizing him when he ditorts the facts. Thanks, and keep up the great work, I enjoy your columns!

Steven has it right! Senator Clinton again showed that she is the best of the Democratic or Republican field. It is fun to watch the other candidates, many in the media and Clinton-haters whine. "It's the fault of the audience, CNN, etc." Wolf just made all candidates answer though questions. What a concept!

Since the previous debate, maybe Hillary has been using a rope-a-dope strategy and Chuck Todd. Chris Mattehews and NBC/MSNBC are just the dopes.

What I would like to know is this: why, when he is the only viable alternative to Clinton and Obama, did John Edwards get less time to talk last night than either Biden or Kucinich, neither of whom have any realistic chance of winning the nomination? Why was he seated off to the side instead of next to the other front-runners? It really makes you start to believe that the media is out to get him, as his campaign has alleged. For some reason they are trying to force-feed us Clinton and Obama (especially Clinton), maybe because they are owned by big corporations that are scared sh*tless of an Edwards presidency. Hopefully people will see how unfairly Edwards is being treated and it will make them angry.

I would like to see the American public show some insight and some spine and say "You are not going to choose our president for us. WE will choose our own president. We're not as stupid as you seem to think we are. We will choose the person that's going to do the most for us, and we can't be bought, bullied, or tricked into voting for the candidate that you want us to elect so that you can continue to flourish at our expense." That's what I want to see happen, and that's what I think WILL happen.

As far as Edwards changing his positions on things like universal healthcare from a few years back, that's ok. People change over the years. They have time to reflect, they see the error of their ways, and they change paths. That's entirely different from what Hillary Clinton has done over the past couple weeks regarding drivers licenses for illegal aliens. Two weeks ago she said she was for them, then she stuck her finger in the wind and realized that was an unpopular position. So last night she changed her position. Hillary Clinton is just a double-talking politician.

And furthermore, I think nominating Hillary is a great way for the Democrats to up the odds that they will lose the 2008 election, which should be theirs for the taking. Winning New York is a WHOLE OTHER DEAL from winning the United States. Maybe Hillary can win New York, but can she win Texas? Montana? Tennessee? NO. Hillary Clinton cannot win conservative rural districts. Period.

Please, Hillary changes positions more than her underwear! She likes trade agreements with Peru, but wants to put trade on a "time-out" when she becomes President. She believes that illegal immagrants should have drivers licenses, then she doesn't one sentence later. I can not support a person that plants questions that make them look better, than fail to research facts to form opinons bout other important topics. I also felt tthat the only reason that Clinton looked good last night was because Blitzer was moderating in her favor. He interupted other's when they were making arguements, tried to force words in their mouths, and worst, just didn't listen at times.
Oh, yeah, I am a college level nationally ranked debator for Phi Kappa Delta and I am a Communication Major with an emphasis in Political Communication, and this is the worst debate I think I have ever watched.

As a native New Yorker who did not vote for Hillary for Senator.... she is a liar and conniver (which is worse than a manipulator). She is using her gender as a platform not real issues.

Debates are nothing more than entertainment valued... this 'attacking' tactics used by all the candidates should not be surprising.

Why a Demo. debate and then a Repub. debate??Why not put Hillary,Obama, and Edwards up against Fruity Rudy, Fred (the dead), and the Mitt in a special 2 hour debate? As it is now, Demo. watch the Dem, debates, Repub.endure the Rep. debates. Let's get a little real give America's voters a taste of things that will eventually be deal with.
