This is the best summary of the failures of this Administration and of our society, that I have ever read. It should be required reading for every politician inAmerica.

I just wrote a very similiar article on hunger using two studies one from Hormel and one from the US Conference of Mayors that support Ms. Quindlen's work.

There is a problem with poverty right here in th e USA and I appreciate this article with all my heart. I have been delivering food 3 times per week to our local food pantry which desperately needs donations. We worry about overindulging at holiday time when our neighbors don't have adequate nutrition

A refreshing look at a problem that should be at the forefront of our domestic agenda. Well written, thank you.

I find it terrifying that anyone in the twenty first century might believe that religion is even a potential instrument of good. While I agree the idea of hunger at home is a shame, I object strongly to the idea that trading the right wing sociopathic religious clap trap we have now, for left wing religious blatherings will do anything more for us than drag us closer to the edge. Religion is the source of the problem, NOT it's solution. Since the dawn of antiquity Churches have have used to HIDE wealth, not distribute it. If my generation hopes to leave this world better than we found it, we had better start accepting that the future of this country, and perhaps even the destiny of the whole human race will be decided over the next few years. We have sufficient resources to feed and educate the planet several thousand times over if we choose too, but we will not, because we are giving our money to men who hide behind the pulpit and rob us blind!.We are placing our "faith" in men who actually believe the world MUST end as in written in their preferred religious clap trap. I for one say enough, these men are the PROBLEM. Religion and the zealotry it inspires is dragging us toward conflicts that will make the dark ages seem a time of enlightenment. Anyone, including the author of this piece, who claims the some moral high ground due to some ancient and obsolete belief system is merely muddying the waters. For better or worse, we mere humans collectively control our destiny, imagined Gods do not!

What???s wrong with TV these days is there is to many show about the wrong kind of family. To much about illegals coming here and making it big with there ill-gotten gains, buying into a so called legitimate business only to be at war with another freaking gangster family. Anyone that would watch this crap ??? is stupid. The gangsters aren???t American??? they don???t belong here. They are ***, and don???t belong on our airwaves in any configuration.
