Karl Rove helped create the lowest poll numbers in history for an American President. I hope the Republican nominee takes his advice and actually tells his true story because then there will be no doubt that we should all vote for anything but a Republican. Democrats have been cleaning up your messes since 1933 and we will be moppin' the floor and makining the clean sweep to send you all packing this time. Like the woman in the movie "Cold Mountain" said: God won't let it...God won't let it stand forever. The American people won't fall for your sorry family values and phony Christian line again.
The minority community isn't stupid and they will laugh at you all the way out the door of every minority event you try to muscle your way into. They haven't forgotten the cop cars posted at the polling places in Florida or your lack of caring for them as citizens.
The rest of us know the price of gas and the war on terror has made many of your ilk wealthy. You have no platform on national health insurance except to say we shouldn''t have it. Your personal medical accounts and personal social security accounts are laughable. They are the ideas of the fat and bloated hogs feeding at the trough at the peoples expense. Don't let the door hit you in the buttocks on the way out...lol.

I have always believed that the annointment of Hillary has been a plan all along by the Republicans and big business interests including the mainstream media. They see it as a no lose situation - nominate the only democrat (besides Kucinich) that can be beaten in a general election - and if she happens to win, you have the one democrat who is in the pocket of the insurance, pharma, oil, etc. etc. lobby.

Whose goals? your goals? or extreme liberal and leftwing democrats' goals? The Liberal and Leftwing Democrats' goals are to destroy and humiliate this country...You guys are truly morons, period.
My point is that any Republican candidate (except Ron Paul) is better server for this country, not your Moron-Extreme-Liberal-Leftwing-Democratic-Candidates including your manly HillaryClinton Machine...Ha...Ha...!

Obama, Richardson, Edwards, I don't care. I am a life-long Dem (save Perot in '92), but I wouldn't vote Hillary for dog-catcher in a neighboring county. The NY drivers license debacle, planted questions in Iowa, travel office staffers, et al, she is the poster-child of all that is wrong with American politics. Give me Blowhard Biden or Doldrum Dodd, but for Pete's sake don't make me vote for a third party candidate or [gasp] Rudy/Fred/McCain. Anybody, anyone, anything, but Hillary will get this Dem.s vote.

Since my comments have not been posted regarding the underlying sexism in this country from all presidential candidates and especially from the likes of Karl Rove regarding Hillary Clinton I will assume this
section is run by men. The women in this country are watching and we will revolt on election day remember
we still outnumber men by at least 2 to 1.

We women may out number men, but please do not lump us all into 'Hillary' voters. I am totally for a woman president, however, I am smart enough to know that Hillary is not the one.

Can anybody point me to recent poll figures (and error probability) on the percentage of all eligible male voters and all eligible women voters currently favor Hillary Clinton?

    • Posted By: Snorkeldorf @ 11/20/2007 12:49:49 AM

Really? There are twice as many eligible women voters than men voters in this country? That is news to me. Please point me to the source of your information for this statistic. Thanks!

      • Posted By: Snorkeldorf @ 11/20/2007 1:37:29 AM

2 to 1 margin women to men voters didn't sound credible to me, so I looked it up. Latest figures I could find were from Presidential Election of 2000 (I assume relative percentages have not changed drastically since then). See Table B on page 6 of the following document.

        http://www.census.gov/prod/2002pubs/p20-542.pdf

Bottom line: out of a total population of 202.609 million U.S. residents older than 18 years, 186.366 million were eligible to vote, but only 129.549 million were actually registered to vote. Of those registered, 110.826 million actually voted in the 2000 presidential election. In fact, women outnumber men in each of these categories by a significant margin, but it is nowhere near the stated 2 to 1 margin. There were approximately 9 million more registered women than men and approximately 8 million more women than men who actually voted. In the general population, there were approximately 9 million more women than men 18 years or older eligible to vote (citizens 18 years and up).

I believe the republicans are throwing a false fear factor out there, much the same way Bush duped the country into believing Iraq had WOMD. The way I see it is like this. As long as you believe they are afraid of Hillary, and you really believe we need change( and who doesn't?) you think we need her because they are worried that she can't be beaten in the general election. This couldn't be farther from the truth. The reps. are counting on us nominating her because they feel she can be taken down. What with her approval rating among the majority of voters. Who they really don't want to up against is Barack Obama or John Edwards because they will have major electability. So watch out for that smoke screen when you caucase or vote your primary election. Don't vote just because it's a Clinton, Vote for a trully electable candidate in the general election. We can't hardly survive four or (God forbid) eight more years of serve big business and starve little people.

Republican strategy is to allow Hillary to win the Dem nomination so they can rip her apart and slip their candidate into the Oval office. Rove....you're a slimy character...go back under the rock you came frim.
    GO OBAMA!!!!

duh, there is no way that we as a country can be so ignorant to think that these simplistic thoughts are in
anyway the substance of presidential thoughts.

Rove talks much sense for a man so questionable to some. No one ever questioned his brains though and from there the pyramid can be built. Hillary does have a lot of negatives and this will indeed help drive people to the polls that would not normally go. But this works in the opposite direction as well as woman who merely want to see the first woman president get off therr couch to vote as well. In my assumption, I'm looking at a Rudy candidacy. On the same terms, he's got a batch of negatives. But as Rove says, "keep playing the positives." Talk about 9/11 and what you did for NY despite how much the Dems criticize you. The complain about it merely because they know they can't say you did anything bad during that time. So instead of criticizing your actions, they complain about the amount of times you bring it up in a speech. Likewise wiht your ability to bring both crime and the deficit down in NY. These are your strengths, so once again Dems will criticize and find the 5 firefighters that don't like you and batch them together with the 10 police officers who feel the same. They'll get paraded around saying, "see, see, police and fireman don't like Rudy. Listen to these guys!!" Meanwhile the other 98% get overlooked. As Rove and I have said Rudy, keep up the positives and people will see Hillary brings no accomplishments to the table. And then they will soon realize that you bring the only plan of action, and with it ahistory of making those plans work. Good luck

Sorry Warhorse, I'm not a liberal so put your paint brush away--I've voted for John McCain every time he's come up for reelection. I'm just a person who tries to look objectively at things and try to stay above partisan politics as much as possible. Unlike most, I don???t vote like the party wants me to???I look at issues and make up my own mind, so yeah, sometimes I agree with the Republicans and sometimes I agree with the Democrats. I'm just not an ignorant low brow like you. Having served in the military doesn't make you a better person or make you elite, so get off your high horse. Maybe you were inspired by duty to enlist or maybe you were just too dumb to get a job elsewhere or maybe you like running around with a gun or maybe you liked the government giving you benefits???I don???t know. I've known a lot of honorable men and women who have served in the military and I had family and friends on the ground in Iraq and Afghanistan and I had family killed in WWII; but I've also known many ignorant people who have served in the military just because it was a job and who couldn???t discuss current issues or the historical issues that have created the troubles in the Middle East beyond bitching about ???sand n*ggers??? and nuking them back into the stone age. You throw your service in other American???s faces???but it doesn???t make you any better than those of us who are also loyal Americans, but who can think independently, which is a trait the Founding Fathers admired. You've shown to me what quality of an American you are with your ignorant comments and I'm sure you'd be just as happy to put a bullet in me just because I disagree with what your idea of a "loyal American" is because you sure don't want to discuss things like a reasonable adult.

And as far as the Nuremberg reference, I was making a comparison with people???s willingness to blindly follow along with what they were told and buying everything hook, line, and sinker, which can be as dangerous to America as questioning the government, so I was not calling you a Nazi.

And yeah, the war was misguided. We should have finished the job in Afghanistan. We didn???t and diverted our resources and now it???s flaring up again but we???re bogged down in Iraq, so oh well, guess we???ll just have to hope for the best, which isn???t looking too good.

WHy is no one mentioning my OBAMA speech, that was the essence of my commentary, the whole ariticle was in regards to Barak'ss missed opportuinity to distinguish himself from Hillary. He's a smart guy he made you vote for Bush. Bush is a two term president, is Karl Rove Smart or are you studpid? What spelling mistakes this is internet talk. I would like to congratulate Karl Rove and all presidential candidates for participating and serving in the political process of this great country. I admire all candidates both republican and democrat and wish to offer some "Karl Rove Quality of advice".But first let me state that Karl Rove is a genius, a bit pompus, but like any great quaterback one must have confidence. Karl Rove's reasoning is simple, know your opponent and distinguish yourself. It makes sense. As Rove mentioned, Hillary Clinton's every move and reaction is calculated so in order to defeat her, "show that you are real", I couldn't have put it better myself Karl! It was so easy to defeat Gore, expose his goofiness and calculated answers with responses like "fuzzy math". 'Let Gore beat himself, he's a moron' was one of the tickets the Rebublicans played in the 2000 election (Gore once claimed he invented the internet, his answers were not real they were scripted) . And in 2004 the republicans portrayed Kerry as "flip flopper" because he voted for it before he voted against it. Combined that with the constant images of Kerry looking like a Hippi on withdrawl, protesting the same war he fought for; finished him off.

    • Posted By: okie_magic @ 11/19/2007 11:38:55 PM

What Rove did well was sell you the image of a candidate. Take Gore, for example. Gore was ridiculed for the way he appeared in the debate against Bush in 2000. But if you listened to the debate like I did, Gore had the more intelligent answers. What Rove did was sell you an image of Gore as a "dork" for lack of a better word. At the same time, Rove is packaging the image of Bush as a moderate, intelligent, reasonable cowboy from Texas, when nothing could be further from the truth. Combine all this with some voter caging and preventing ballot recounts in Florida and badabing! you get the Shrub in the White House.

If you did your research, you'd know Gore never claimed to have invented the internet, but he was responsible for much of the legislation that allowed the internet to develop into it's present state.Right now, we are seeing the real Al Gore, Nobel Prize winner, best selling author, generous donor to charities. Why would Al Gore NOT make a great president? He is intelligent, successful and cares about people. What disappoints me is the number of Americans that fell for Rove's pap.

To this day, I still believe that Rove was involved in the decision to invade Iraq, because Rove knew that it would be hard for Bush to lose the 2004 election during war time. Bush personally put Rove in charge of "selling" the war to the American people.Rove was involved with the political decisions, to leak Val Plame's name, to air video of Bin Laden, to raise the Terror Alert Status, to talk about the danger of Saddam's WMD's, over and over and over. Then there were the SwiftBoat Liars attacks on Kerry. All of this gave Bush a narrow victory over Kerry.

Yes Rove is a genius, he is a genius at fooling voters and at painting people in an unflattering light, even resorting to dirty tricks if he has to. He's a glorified con man, a huckster, a snake oil salesman, a political hitman. He is not somebody to be admired or thought highly of.

eddiewhere either you are a Republican plant on this board, or a sheep that soaks in every Bush/Rove talking point their propaganda press office can spray out. Feel free to educate yourself, read everything. Here's one interesting fact Hilary Clinton Graduated from Wellesley College, then furthered her education, next graduating from Yale Law School. Rove has dedicated his life to dirty campaign politics since dropping out of college, then immersing himself in extremist right-wing Texas political groups. He's been running the United States of America with no formal education, the same goes for Rush Limbaugh.

      • Posted By: eddiewhere @ 11/19/2007 10:59:28 PM

Karl Rove is a political adviser a campaign managed/ The whitehouse is run like a corporation with the chairman of the board Bush and the director of operations Cheney. What about your friend dick Morris and his triangulation. Ask your fellow educated democrat about Hillary. I personally like Hillary, however this article is about defeating Hillary. Karl Rove made some valid points in his article and OBAMA should be paying attention he has already missed a great chance to connect with the American people by tackling the immigration issue head on. Hillary would best serve her country by being vice president or a cabinet post incharge of Health Care.

Rove basically says the only way a Republican can beat Hillary is to become a Democrat. It's not going to work in 2008, but I hope the Republican Party takes Rove's advice going forward. It's sad he's still wallowing in the old talking points on Iraq. Most Americans know we went into Iraq for no good reason. Now, our options are like choosing to amputate a leg to stop cancer from spreading - hopefully, you can stop the cancer, but you're not happy about losing the leg. Americans know we have other security assets besides our awesome military destructive power. Senator Clinton has the cunning, diplomatic experience and the toughness, to deal with the complex security threats in Pakistan, Iran, Afghanistan and Iraq. A novice like Obama will screw up foreign policy.

As for Obama's talking point that she is too polarizing -- he's living in the past. Senator Clinton is a can-do person. She's made great strides in expanding her base of support in the vital American center. Obama pays too much attention to the noise coming from extremists -- the Radical Right and the Ultra-Left who oppose Senator Clinton's humane pragmatism. Extremists do not speak for America. Obama does makes really nice speeches, I'll give him that.
