Assuming that you are sincerely not bright and do need a primer (please don't feel compelled to vote just yet), yes, more people in America are murdered every day (bet you aren't for gun control either, are you!). The population of America is over 300 million. We have 170,000 troops in Irawk (variant OK?). Lots more targets in the mother country. So I guess I'll book my next vacation in Bagdad. Keen to join me, patriot?

It is very telling when a person has to stoop to lies (implying that Hilary put a mirror on the door of her office in the West Wing), and criticizing her personality traits instead of the issues. Just because she has a brain and gumption apparently makes her "cold" and "brittle" , but the same traits would be considered signs of strength in a man. Who's playing the gender card now?

I find it hard to believe Newsweek would sink so low as to give this man a microphone. Your stock just went down in my book. Obviously that woman in South Carolina does not have a monopoly on tasteless.

Sara, you have such a nice peaceful name, why are you so invested in hate? Is there any room in your cold dark heart for dialog, or are you like the president of Iran and declaring all discussion finished (re: enrichment of uranium)

      H

      Hopefully you will

It's always a please to see

The only thing I hate, is hate and torturers and I can't tolerate the intolerant. Who was that woman in the video?

    HEY D VADER

Go back to candyland where everything is gum drop great. Yeah, you were a democrat! The republican party is in shambles--where do I sign up! IDIOT

Barryh22, hey genius, so glad your nephew made it back . 3500 soldiers dead out of call it 250,000 having gone to Iraq (oh, thanks so much for help on my spelling! Guess I was just seeing red. Gotta keep things in proportion after all!!!). so genius, apply the same killing rate to the USA and looks like a good day to stay home... Give a go lad, stay in deadly America and tell the (dead) vet's (family's) just how tough it's been on the home front.

Rove's myopia is shocking. He advises Republicans to remind voters of their convictions, We've watched as they've puffed up their little chest, boasted about their virtue then stole money from the poor box for the last decade. It's funny when you think about it. He advises them to run on promises, not their record. But then again phony resume is preferable to past performances.

Wow! I am quite taken back by this article in your magazine. I had to go back to the top of the screen twice to make sure it was really in Newsweek and not some Republican propaganda rag. Why would you do that to a presidential candidate, of any party? Does this mean that we can look forward to articles by James Carville about Rudy Giuliani in the future? Perhaps you will quote a woman in the audience who refers to him as a bastard. I am just shaking my head wondering why someone as biased/underhanded as Karl Rove is writing an op ed piece in what I once thought was a magazine with impartiality and integrity.

  • Posted By: TheBlackPearl @ 11/19/2007 7:28:31 PM

Rove belongs in prison not in print. But I have to hand it you for giving me the best laugh in a long while. Rove wants his candidates to "give the American people hope, optimism and insight." The best way to do that is for Republicans to plead guilty, come clean, and resign. Its just amazing that these right wing freaks still accuse the Clintons of everything under the sun up to and including mass murder despite the fact that the only thing a 6 year $12 million dollar investigation could turn up was that Bill lied about a consensual relationship with an adult of the opposite gender. Meanwhile every week that goes by we find another Republcan CONVICTED or stepping down in shame after the vast amounts of real evidence finally forces them out of office. And then deserter Bush finds some new way around the law to get them out of jail so they won't start talking about what they really know about him. The best thing conservatives could do for America is commit mass suicide.

Black Pearl -you are so right "Rove should be in prison" -Newsweek has sunk to an ALL TIME LOW putting this criminal on their payroll!! Anyone who is still a subscriber -I say boycott Newsweek until they "rethink" their decision on their new "employee"

  • Posted By: KarlRoves3rdChin @ 11/19/2007 7:35:52 PM

HA ???does anyone actually believe ANYTHING that comes out of treasonous Karl Rove???s mouth??!! Newsweek, you???ve got to be kidding me. You put this traitor on your payroll??!! Not only is Rove a LIAR ???he is a CRIMINAL ???and you are paying him!? So what does that make Newsweek ???unethical at best, a co-conspirator to treasonous activity at worst. I hope Newsweek loses ALL their advertising revenue and their subscribers for this BAD move!

Well Warhorse, your moniker sums you up because you're full charge ahead -- unfortunately, it also sums up your brain wattage because you argue as well as horse. Try looking at the whole situation as dispassionately as possible and examine facts instead of spewing rhetoric. The Mideast situation has been in crisis before Bush or Clinton was in office and both made mistakes; unfortunately, Bush has compounded the problem by launching a war in Iraq that was completely misguided that has destabilized the region (before completing the task in Afghanistan and bringing Osama to justice) further. Just because those of us who are thinking patriots and don't blindly goose step when some rich elite oilman and his cronies want us too, doesn't make us any less American. Judging by your post, you would have done well carrying a torch in Nuremberg back in 1933--same mentality of blindly following along and questioning the patriotism of those who dare to speak their mind.

    newsweekkrapmag,

What stats are ya talking about, more murders here daily than soldiers killed in Iraq, not "Irak", the K key is way on the other side of your keybord, learn how to type. These young soldiers are doing what they are trained to do, this is no Viet Nam, they are winning, so let them. My nephew went to Iraq under the National Guard, diffused mines and roadside bombs, he made it back A-OK, no casualties in his unit. It is not as bad as the media plays it. Sometimes we have to fight for the freedom that we have, get over it

    • Posted By: slidemike @ 11/19/2007 7:34:50 PM

      WHAT EXACTLY ARE THEY WINNING???

      REALLY, PLEASE TELL ME!

To the numb nuts writing in this blog - The point was he didn't imply she was vain - You didn't get it and she didn't get it either............Lets see, the democrates and Hillary have driven me out of the party...The other choices are similar jokes.....What a bunch of bull manure......I have tried to formulate positive feelings about one or the other party /candidate but the continued abuse/misuse of our political system and tax dollars by both Republicans and Democrates mostly makes me want to pewk - When will our so called leaders wake up? Does anyone here actually think that either party has a clue about how to run the country? I have come to the conclusion that none of this will change until all parties are abolished and lawyers are not allowed to run for office - That would be a good start.

Hey, FAIRANDBALANCED, Any one calling themselves fair and balanced knowing the origins of the expression is highly unlikely to be either. Warhorse, the demos didn't actually lie to win the last elections. The proverbially blue dog (look it up if you have too) would have done pretty. well...Any crime came in not being willing to give GW a piece of his own hard ball medicine. GW is quite frankly an indictable party to war crimes and should be prosecuted as such.

Mr. Rove, shouldn't you be teaching the Republican candidates and their political operatives how to use "push polling" and "voter caging"? Your mirror story reminds me of the push polling you did in South Carolina during the 2000 primaries. That was very clever but ruthless. Your campaign polsters called regular voters and asked them misleading questions concerning John McCain's family. Remember this question, and I'm paraphrasing, "Would you be more likely or less likely to vote for John McCain if you knew he fathered an illegitimate black child?" In South Carolina? You were not interested in the numbers. You simply wanted to plant that idea in the voters' minds. That was low, but it worked especially since John McCain was campaigning with his adopted daughter. She was from Asia and dark skinned. Instead of advising the Republicans to reach out to minorities, shouldn't you be demonstrating how "voter caging" purges minority voters from the registration rolls. Niccolo Machiavelli would be proud of you. Lee Atwater, your mentor, would have been proud, too. (Remember his Willie Horton add?) No, wait! Is it true that Mr. Atwater felt remorse and repented just before he died of a brain tumor? Yes, I believe he did, and he issued public and written apologies to many of people he attacked during his political career. So, Mr. Rove, what are you really advising the Republicans to do? After all, you know "The Math".

  • Posted By: newsweekkrapmag @ 11/19/2007 7:24:59 PM

Warhorse, you need help. Something tells you won't be getting it though..Promise me you don't vote their in the home. Bill Clinton was the best Republican president ever! What American army total destruction? So totally destroy that just one year later that that army fought 2 wars in 12 months? We did win the wars by the way. Too bad about the peace. America, come to your senses. Oh, I see that in the meanwhile Barryh22 has posted another gem. Way to go, madman!

I love Hillary. I believe she's one of the few people intelligent enough and capable enough to lead this country out of the mess it's in.

keeping my freedom; since when is murdering cripples, jews, gypsies, the retarded , sickly, gays, and anyone else different from those in power not an American issue? Protecing the weak and needy used to be a virtue, not politics. I agree that politicians around the world were responsible for the ovens in Germany by their silence. I've been to war and its urgly but so is the longterm effect of doing nothing . Evil grows in the dark. But I like Harp, Guinness, and Killians. Jamesons ain't bad either. HAVE A NICE THANKSGIVING.
