"Be strong on Iraq. Democrats have bet on failure." says Rove. This will work if Americans buy into the notion that the justness of an act ion is conditioned by execution. Success or failure in Iraq is not the issue. Isn't the real issue whether or not the war was just? Most legal, ethical and religious scholars overwhemingly agree that they it was not.

The Nazis were "successful" at murdering millions of Jews. They were brutally, terribly, efficient. Had the Nazis won WWII and completed the Final Solution" would this have justified their action? No, Of course not. The question is absurd. Yet somehow Americans of all stripes--Dems and GOPers alike--use the daily headlines to back up their side of the Iraq question. i oppose the war--not because we happen to be winning losing on a given day---but because it is illegal and immoral.

FREERANGER you clearly show why rightwingers like myself can't trust your side with power. once again you liken U.S. TO NAZIS. MY God man, why do you lefties hate this country so bad. Whether we are for the war or against at least people are not being pushed into woodchippers by their own government any more in IRAQ. Would the ovens still be burning humans in Europe if leftwing types had their way wringing their hands over the poor misunderstood dictator? irishguy

Unfortunately, we Americans are faced with yet another pool of subpar candidates to vote from for the most important job in America, the Master Puppet. Let's be realistic, if any candidate was truly going to "change" the future of America, they wouldn't even get a nomination, regardless of party! A good listener who follows the leads of other outside influences is all we Americans have been able to have as a President since the end of 1963. That guy got killed because he didnt listen and follow the lead. The problems of America are caused, in part, because we have been trained to simplify the issues to be either Democrat or Republican caused and then we are ignorant enough to argue about which side has the right answer?
    Wake up folks!

Karl Rove is a traitor. He knowly reveled a C.I.A agent to the press for political motovies. Karl Rove said that John McCain was too crazy to be president because he was a P.O.W. ,his wife is a dopper and that he fathered a bi-racial child .This punk is a disgrace to America. I hope that the Americian Talibian tries to talk about the issues that Rove said to talk about. maybe America will wake up to the half truths and whole lies that they tell.

I wondered what hole Rove had crawled into. Now that I know, I'm cancelling my Newsweek subscription. I thought Newsweek was less biased than this crap. This is not 'reporting'. This is pandering at its worst. Newsweek, if you think you can sell more subscriptions this way - GOOD LUCK! As for Hillary, you go girl. I can't wait until you are in office to clean up the sloppy mess this Administration, which Carl Rove was a huge part of, is leaving behind. The American people are sick of this kind of mud slinging. We want answers to today's problems....not some evil mastermind telling the Republicans from a supposedly unbiased news source how to beat Hillary. Geeze.....

Yes, I agree that's crap. Democrats discuss the republicans just as much as republicans discuss the democats. All I know is that Hillary Clinton is a hypocrite, and I hope she doesn't win the election coming up next year. My vote is definetly not on her, and I hope all the rest of you voters do your research as well too. God Bless!

Nice "ADVICE" from a CRIMINAL! Its amazing to me how absolutely TERRIFIED conservatives are of future-President Clinton! Make no doubt about it! She will be President, and a fine one at that! After eight years of the CIRCUS ACT Bush has directed at the EXPENSE of AMERICANS, especially MIDDLE-CLASS AMERICANS, people refer to ROVE as a "mastermind". I'd be embarrased and humiliated if I was the person who "MASTERMINDED" that CAST OF CLOWNS! I would think it impossible to gather that many people in one administration who are so OUT OF TOUCH with the AMERICAN PEOPLE!

CARL ROVE! DOES YOUR HIPPOCRASY KNOW NO BOUNDS!!!

The great Amercan TRAITOR Karl Rove on how destroy the greatest country on earth is still a free man, Sad that the abuse of executive privlidge can absolve the most vile of people from criminal prosecution, even those that release top secret CIA operatives to the press, endangering the American people and destroying our country for his conservative ideology that all Americans should be like him and this corrupt administration. Myself... Im done with the illegal actions of Bush and company, Anyone remeber the past 5 years and all the personal liberties lost? Tom Delay and Scooter Libby? how about Alberto Gonzalez , Donald Rumsfield, And the great big LIE that is IRAQ. Real Americans are NOT blind or stupid. Rove and his ideals are corrupt, Save America and get rid of the Republican MAFIA.

That's crap. Democrats discuss the republicans just as much as republicans discuss the democrats. In my opinion, if both parties would spend as much time on the issues as they do on each other and the faults of the Bush administration... progress would be made. As a citizen of New Orleans, I was dumbfounded by the way the democrats leaked a withdrawal date for Iraq into the same bill containing Katrina Relief funding... especially knowing with 100% certainty that Bush wouldn't sign it if it contained a pull out date for Iraq. Their thoughtless attempt to cause a media stir about Bush's alleged lack of care for New Orleans did nothing but cause more sufferage for the citizens of this city. Those are the kinds of tactics that do nothing for the citizens of this country. Appaulling!! The two parties spend so much time at each others throats that we can't even make any progress. The same battles are still being bickered about as was being bickered about 8 years ago. NOTHING GETS ACCOMPLISHED!!

Mr. Rove's appelation to the prospective Republican nominee to have something serious and truthful to say about health care, education and the increasing disparity between those at the highest and lowest strata of society, cannot be stressed to strongly. Democrats love to paint Republicans as the party who cares little or nothing about these issues. Republicans were hurt tremendously by failing to compromise with the Democrats on "saving" Social Security earlier in the President's second term, and in light of the Democrats' tactics of putting forth unacceptable legislation which was rightfully rejected by Republicans, the GOP has accomplished little to use as positives with the voters. Republicans need to reach out beyond the tried-and-true. They need to take some risks for the future. A Manhattan Project style program to create clean energy through the controlled use of thermonuclear fusion (well ahead of the current European and Chinese projects) would inspire young and old as the space-race did back when I was a kid. The "vision-thing". Remember? Why shouldn't car makers have to offer both a gas/electric hybred of their cars along with pure gasoline vehilces? A gas tax or additional tax on oil company profits (offset by subsidies for exploration and resourse conservation) could subsidize automakers for the cost differential between the hybred and regular gas autos. A plan to use liquid petroleum for vehicle/airplane/boat, etc. fuel and nuclear energy for creating electricity would show vision. We're almost there with environmentalists now with nuclear energy being preferable to burning coal to produce electricity. Develop the theme.

This coming election will pit a widely known and popular woman (yes, who also has high negatives, but that won't win the race) against an old man (respected, but old) a divorcee without foreign policy experience and or a "pretty-face" who, like John Edwards, comes across very well, but has little substance behind the rhetoric. Republicans need to project VISION in order to win, as well as strengh and character. Thanks, Karl.

In this column, Democrats seem to be discussing Republicans more than issues! One major
political victory that could me credited to Ms. Clinton would be helpful in her gaining even a
minute shred of credibility. The fact is that Republicans need not be so preoccupied with
being critical of her shortcomings, her gaffes and missteps highlight them beautifully for
    the public to see...

Enlightened article. Clearly the issue is not how to beat Hillary, but how to be the best candidate you can be, regardless of party. Written between the lines is, "Hillary has beat herself, the opposing candidate needs to present an image of a that America trusts.". If that isnt done succinctly, Hillary will win.

Her personal life aside, she is a strong candidate. She believed the information the President gave on Iraq was correct and it was not. All you Republicans fell for it too. What would have been wrong would be for her to deny supporting the President and the war. She admitted she backed the wrong horse and is determined to correct her actions. She is not stupid enough to think she will get in office and withdraw all troop immediately. Bush and his administration have created a mess in so many areas of the U.S. the God help us all and God help the next administration. All of you that voted for 8 years of Bush need to keep your mouths shut.

I used to be a Hillary fan when she just became a First Lady, but she lost me, especially after the Clinton-Lewinsky case and I realized how calculated she is. The more I listened to her, the less I could identify with her as a married woman and a mom. I don???t see real ???convictions??? when she talks, I feel that she says what people wants to her not how she want to lead. She is definitely not a Thatcher like, or Angela Merkel, or even Golda Mier, mother of modern Israel.

I would love to vote for a woman but not this woman.Sorry!
