I am genuinely pleased to see Newsweek embracing both sides of the aisle, today we see a GOP point of view, when usually we usually only see democratic talking points in Newsweek...this is refreshing. Let's all listen to what BOTH sides have to say and pick the best PERSON to lead the country, not the best democrat or the best republican...how about the strongest and most authentic leader? That's who I am voting for, whoever that turns out to be.

Hey tard. What do you think Geoge Will is Democrat?

    • Posted By: nelshar @ 11/18/2007 8:31:25 PM

I agree with you Just Truth. The problem is the word authentic leader. The people in office now are far from authentic and if we even believe that we can elect someone authentic dem or rep you are sadly mistaken. Honesty and politics don't seem to go hand in hand anymore. How sad for our country. The likes of Rove, Bush, Cheney have created a wide range of corruption in this society.

Rove is a piece of crap. They might as well give OJ a column. Guilty of exposing undercover agents and Rove himself being an agent for the election and administration of worst president in US history.

JohnHess, this is an op-ed, Its supposed to be from a certain angle of view. Why would you subscribe in the first place if you don't wan't to be exposed to opinions with which you disagree? Swingdown, funny, but Mr.Rove spells his name wih a 'K".

Don't you mean which corporation you would like to vote for?

Why has Newsweek decided to give a platform to this traitor, Karl Rove, who revealed the name of a covert CIA agent who was working to keep weapons of mass destruction out of the hands of America's adversaries?

Rove should be locked up for the rest of his pathetic life and never heard from again.

To all who are decrying Karl Rove's editorial presence in Newsweek: In spite of the past seven years, the United States is still a plural society. It has not been an easy seven years for those who have curiousity, who like to ask a question, share an idea, initiate a conversation to see the growing restriction on our self-expression, but we all do have a responsibility to work hard at maintaining the United States as a place where diverse ideas are accepted.

I am the most liberal person I know. I do not subscribe to conservative publications and so generally rely on cable news for exposure to the neo- and ordinary conservative political platform. Although Karl Rove's opinions and perspectives are not mine by about 180deg, there are many who value and respect what he was able to achieve and influence over the past seven years. If any of the 537 nationally elected members of our goverment are going to be guided in the least by Rove's take, then I want to know. It gives me a much broader picture and helps winnow the chaff from the wheat.

Why is Newsweek posting, what is essentially, a Republican advertisement, on their site? The whole point of this column was to put down Hillary Clinton. I will cancel my subscription if this propaganda is going to be part of the print edition

larry143, you crack me up. Hillary most certainly could be a dictator if she leaves in place all the bits and pieces so cleverly (and sneakily) crafted by GW Bush et al, and designed and pushed through by Cheney, Rove, Gonzales, Addington, etc, to push onto our gov't a unitary executive-style presidency, trying to submerge and make irrelevant the "notions" of oversight by Congress and the Juduciary branch. Honestly, you guys are a laugh riot getting your skirts all blown up around your waist right now. You have always claimed that gov't is the problem, then dutifully set out to show how incomptently you can govern as if by doing so, you make that lie a truth. You're all for keeping gov't out of the way of corporations (think business-friendly regulatory bodies that refuse to keep corporations from poisoning us, from riding roughshod over the American people), but you're all for keeping gov't in our bedrooms and in our churches and in our media. The screaming hypocrisy you live and breathe every minute of every day is breathtaking. I am personally sick to death of the divisive, take-no-prisoners style of politics the new Republicans have brought us to. There are decent , thoughtful Republicans who can debate policy and politics with reason and honor. These folks have been shut out of their own party during the Bush years, for certain sure. I am hopeful of a better future for us all, but that better future is not going to come from the Republicans currently at the helm.

I am just delighted that you are out of Washington! May I suggest you find a career selling used cars? Having the personality of a polecat is a plus in that occupation plus the moral code of a weasel should make you a top performer!

Good ol'Karl. Still doing his 'stealth insinuation' politics. He uses a joke about Hillary and a full length mirror- is told she did not put it there- then uses it again.

then has the gonch'as to say that for a Republican to win they must be 'genuine'.

    Talk about disingenious.

Hey Mr. Turdblossom: What makes you think that S H E (Hillary, ha! is going to be our nominee)? Are you kidding? Well, that shows me just how uninformed you are about the other side. But hey, we don't mind because as long as you are that *off* we can be sure that our victory won't be as difficult as we thought it would be. Thanks Karl and keep up the good work. Hope you're enjoying your time off.

  • Posted By: gracchi @ 11/18/2007 7:41:34 PM

larry143, you crack me up. Hillary could be a dictator IF she chooses to leave in place the many pieces of the "unitary executive" presidency so carefully (and sneakily) crafted by GW Bush et al - and so "cleverly" designed and led by Cheney and Rove. You guys really are a laugh riot.

  • Posted By: victoria2dc @ 11/18/2007 7:39:04 PM

Hey Mr. Turdblossom: Where did you get the idea that s h e (Hillary -are you kidding?) is going to be our nominee? You really have lost it Karl. There is no way she will win the nomination, so you just keep right on making another mistake. Hehehehehe... we don't mind if you lead your party to another defeat.

    greentree:
I suppose you're going to say that Joe Wilson outed Plame? Puh-lease, that's so old.

It is a matter of public record now that Karl Rove was Matthew Cooper's source.

    • Posted By: greentree @ 11/18/2007 9:54:50 AM

No Whispers, I am NOT going to say that is was Joe Wilson. It was Richard Armitage. You and others who don't want to believe the facts are the only ones left saying it was Karl Rove. There are plenty of articles talking about the real facts regarding Richard Armitage if you care to do some research .

And yes, this "republican" is for real. Call bs if you like...really doesn't matter one way or the other to me. Whwther

      • Posted By: Paulie200 @ 11/18/2007 7:31:28 PM

You need to check your facts greetree, three days before Novak betrayed Plame to the world, Rove spoke with Time magazines Matt Cooper and revealed that "Wilson's wife" worked at the CIA. Libby also blew her cover to Judith Miller. Armitage was the first known (so far) effort in an organized campaign to plant this information to either discredit or punish, and probably both, Joe Wilson. Rove is as guilty as sin in this.
