A Catholic Dilemma: Can They Root for Rudy?

You are absolutely right...I do live in a glass house and I'm willing to be held accountable when my deeds don't follow my words. I've made mistakes and I will continue to, unfortunately, do so. The difference is that I don't claim sins as rights and I certainly don't hold evil out as virtue. Simply said, God's way is what matters and abortion is murder....always has been and always will be. You may hide behind words in this world but you will never be able to say you didn't know when asked in the next.

Are you paying for yourself.....or is somebody else? Who decides if you should continue to live? Fact is people will pay for themselves just like they always have. Why don't we also kill all prisoners if that's your sole criteria....they certainly don't pay for themselves and they actually committed a criminal act. they are not innocent like the unborn.

The thought that being a religeous zealot hinges on my profound belief that abortion is murder stands as a sad commentary on how far we've come in allowing anyone to do anything. I believe that Jesus Christ is who he said he was....the son of the living God. As a Roman Catholic I find that the church, while not perfect, is a sound moral authority and I take her admonitions seriously. Pro-life Democrats held their collective noses when their party became pro-abortion and voted for flawed candidates who had "the majority of other issues right." Today (2002 statistics) we murder over 42,000,000 babies every year in this world with over 1,000,000 killed in the United States. If we Pro-life voters of the Republican party do likewise, we will find that in the future we will never have a pro-life candidate or platform again. I will choose to not vote rather than help a pro-murder candidate with an R beat a pro-murder candidate with a D. It is God's path that we follow no matter the outcome. I vote with God.

Killing someone based solely on their request to die is neither legally nor morally acceptable. How can one or two persons conspire to kill another - without the victim's consent - and rely on the fact that the victim has no ability to defend himself or herself and claim legal or moral justification?

As a faithful Catholic, I am disturbed that abortion has never erred on the side of caution and studied what I consider to be an evil practice. On the political front though I know that Hillary would be the biggest mistake in general, much less to my ahtred of abortion. I like Rudy and appreciate most of his political positions. because he doesn't have the same thought process as me on abortion, will that make me not vote for him?? Abosolutely not. The stupidity of some zealots out there who say they will never vote for Rudy merely means they are basically casting a vote for Hillary or some other Democrat by not voting. (Or by voting for a person with no chance to win.) We all know the lesser of 2 evils story. Is Rudy perfect? No. Is he perfect for what this country needs right now? I believe so, and I think the majority of other Catholics in this country would agree.

None of these candidates will overturn Roe vs. Wade. So what difference does it make. Hopefully abortion and religion are not the deciding factors for this Presidential election. These should be factors in the parties nomination process but not on the national stage/ remember gay marriage was the deciding factor in OHIO in 04. Although it is a polarizing issue states should handle it. To win the Republican nomination you have to secretely reveal that you will lay the foundation for the reversal of Roe vs. Wade. Solutions: Roe vs Wade is so polarizing that it has sparked terrorism in this country, so Has the gay issue. A President must be clear. That gays whether you support them or not have penetrated every race, creed, and gender on this planet. They are Republicans, democrats, congressmen,FBI, CIA, Military, teachers, professors ect.. Therefore, unlike the civil rights movement this issue affect all races. A CANDIDATE SHOULD RESPOND TO THIS ISSUE BY STATING "As President I must do what is in the best interest of America, although my personal view is that gay marriage is a very uncomfortable subject, it is a very devisive issue. The church should not be forced to preform gay marriages. However, a gay church might perform their own marriage. Inotherwords, all Americans have the right to freedom and privacy. If gay people want to woship amongst themselves they have that right. Gays are Americans too and as President we must find solutions for all. Although one might not agree with another person lifestyle, it no reason to promote hatred and violence

Allen of Harrisburg ) did by moving them instead of punishing them or defrocked them. what if it was your young son that the Priest sexually Abused?? The Bible does not say that a baby has no soul until it takes its first breath. It says that the first man, Adam "became a living soul" when God breathed into him the breath of life. There are other passages that show how God regards the child in the womb. John the Baptist leaped in the womb at the sound of Mary's voice. God spoke of knowing Jeremiah before he was formed in the womb. And surely you've read the prescription for criminal punishment, "life for life, Eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot, Burning for burning, wound for wound, stripe for stripe." I suggest you go back and read it again, and take note of the verse before which shows these punishments are prescribed with regard to a child in its mother's womb. (Exodus 21:22-25)

I find this whole article appalling. Not because of Rudy, but because of the "Big Brothers" (a reference to George Orwell's novel 1984, check it out), um I mean the Catholic officials. First of all, I thought we had seperation of church and state. What about the first ammendment? You know, freedom of speech, religion, and the press. This also includes freedom FROM religion. In other words, Americans are guaranteed by the First Ammendment that they cannot be forced by the government to have to live by religious values that they do not agree with. Let's face it folks, abortion is a religious issue, not a political one. If you don't believe me, look who's trying to outlaw it, the Religious Wrong, um I mean Right. It is a mysogynistic agenda. These Pro-Lifers just cannot stand to have women in this country, or any other country for that matter, be able to enjoy their sexuality without having to go through unwanted pregnancy after unwanted pregnancy as punishment.
