    Comment: ATTENTION

    The Issue:

Thirty-four Senate Republicans is all that is keeping the United Nation???s ???Law of the Sea Treaty??? from being ratified and delivering a potential death blow to our nation???s sovereignty, security and prosperity!

Rejected by Ronald Reagan nearly 25 year ago, the treaty remains an albatross that is now only a breath away from an unnecessary law that would place the U.S. under the governing authority to an unaccountable international body???the UN!

After receiving great pressure from the White House the Senate Foreign Relations Committee approved the treaty by a margin of (17-4) on October 31, leading to speculation that a final ratification vote will take place very soon.

Grassfire.org Alliance has launched a nationwide petition strongly opposing the Law of the Sea Treaty, and has plans to deliver 100,000 citizen petitions to the Senate prior to the ratification vote. The petition states that the Law of the Sea Treaty is a dangerous threat to our nation???s sovereignty, places the U.S. under an international authority, subjects our nation to direct taxation by the United Nations, and may hamper our military.

CONTACT YOUR U.S. SENATORS TO OPPOSE THIS PROPOSED LAW

Comment: yes give the military a chance Bush needs to know how and if it works, so he may complete what he started with destroying the Constitution piece by piece and now that he has a experienced killing military he can do as he pleases to "We The People" as usual for the past 7+ years!!! we also need to know where he left off, so his bro Jeb can finish the job "all in the family and to Bush, Bin-Lauden is family, or he would be dead" in 2012!!!

Comment: Sounds like what our elected officials have planned for us here in the U.S., with their continual attacks on our Constitutional rights and freedoms with their Patriot Act, free trade deals, and trying to convince us it's better for us if we give up our guns, etc. for "safety" when these law makers won't even enforce our laws to protect the U.S. citizenry from aliens entrying our country illegally six years after 9/11 which has caused the death of more than 48,000 American citizens who have be murdered at the hands of illegal aliens! It is clearly treason for profit which seems to be happening on a global scale.

Comment: Response to "nawawinmohamad">>>>> Your Comments are "Grounless"; infact it is the exact copy of the Junta Mouthpiece "New Lights of Myanmar". "if Democracy is imposed on Burma, the whloe country will go haywire because no one will be in control"....That ia loads of BULL... Burma was a fully DEmocratic Country before 1962 and it was one of the RICHEST and a COUNTRY where MOST HIGHLY EDUCATED PEOPLE resided in the S.E ASIA. Infact the Shining STAR among the ex-colony countries. Look what the military THUGS have done to the country today. After being ruled by the Military Junta for 45 years (without a break), Burma is today THE POOREST in S.E.Asia with GDP less than $300 per anum per person. The worst Healthcare in the world, The top TWO countries in Drug Producing. The worst Human Rights Abuses Records in the world. One third of it's children are under weight and 50% of the children did not finish their primary education due to deep rooted poverty.
You said "Give the military a chance" .....The military had 45 years of chance and have stripped the country to it's bare bones today. The proof is on the ground, come and see it for yourself. Is it not enough? Millions of REFUGEES all over the neighboring countries and beyond. Hundreds of thousands inside the jungles as IDPs, hunted down by military forces. Never in our history that our people have been in such POVERTY and REPRESSION , not even during the colonial years.

hv u even stepped one side of ur foot to burma???have u? well, clearly u have not... and saying this report is one-sided when u cant even see half a side of burma!! do u noe what this bulldog junta have done to my country?or do u even noe the misery of staying without electricity? u dun!! this is the issue of burma and u jst pull other stuff like Hamas,Palestine and Iraq? the only thing to be angered towards US is that why they hvnt come to kill off those junta dogs ??why do they have to go and waste their stupid time on some muslim country?? So, nawawimohamad or whatever ur stupid name is, stop saying "Burma needs the army"...To hell with ur lame statements...we dun need no military dogs above the law in Burma..We only need our Lady, our heroiene who won the 1988 national election by a landslide, Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, She is our true leader.....

Comment: Oh... one more thing - if this is not a double standard then I do not know what is... Remember Algeria where FIS won the democratic election... they were wiped out by the US, then Hamas won the election in Palestine, they were also wiped out by the US. Now why so much hue about the Military Junta in Burma? I think the US should gladly support the junta!

    • Posted By: sweMyanmar @ 11/22/2007 09:10:03

Comment: You must be aware that the military in Myanmar has been ruling the country without a break for 45 long years. Don't you think they have a chance to make the country prosperous if they want to? Burmese people have shown for decades that they DO NOT WANT MILITARY RULE by various ways since 1988. (By protests, by voting against military, by marching peacefully ). You said give the military a chance. How many more chances does the military needs after draining the country to "MINUS" for 45 years, without any rival?

  • Posted By: nawawimohamad @ 11/21/2007 11:50:16 PM

Comment: As usual, this report in one sided. Burma needs the army or rather the martial law to survive. If democracy is imposed on Burma then the whole society will go haywire because no one will be in control. Give the military a chance, persuade and giev them sincere help them to phase out military rule and gradually change to a well managed democracy. Use persuasion instead of sanctions. Persuasion is like a fartherly encouragement with no harm done but sanction is like bullying. Nobody likes to be bullied. Somebody mentioned Iraq, it is an affair going sour. Yes the US wasted everything on Iraq instead of helping the needed. Bush is blunder not only to the US but to the entire world.

Comment: And we waste away out time and soldiers in Iraq while this country is allowed to skate.

Comment: And we waste away our time in Iraq. No wonder the third world hates us.
