Younger voters will resonate with Obama because we can identify with him, and in some way he understand that the major part of the problem in this country is Older folks. They are to be blamed for taking us down the road we are presently on. They lack vision and so they are now dampening our dream of a brighter future and a more unified America.
They fail to understand that if our future continues to be as bleak as they lay it out for us, then, their social security will be limited in scope and we will force them back into the stone age. Let's see how they like bread and water. As young people we will take back this country and prove to the rest of the world that we can unite and become masters of our own destiny.
Those old folks who are championing for the Clintons can forever continue to hold on to fading dreams. All this garbage about black and white is but a stench in a drifting wind that will eventually fade away. Obama gives hope to both Black and white, in that the presidency is now open to any child regardless of his family background. If we should look at Hilary we can see that everyone cannot identify with her, however every child, black white or brown can identify with Obama.
The future is ours to take and decide what direction we so choose to follow. Young people wake up and follow your dream, a dream for a better future, if the old fargies fail to see vision then I guarantee you it will be their loss.
Where there is no vision the people perish.
These are the days when young men will dream dreams and old men will see visions.

As young people we must refuse to carry the burden and anxiety that is attributed to racism a legacy from our forefathers. Let it go my people and you will experience tremendous growth.

Have no problem with a women being president. Though I think the first one should be very special and not a person full of lies and deceit. Hillary represents everything that has gone wrong with this country in the past twenty years.

I won't vote for Hillary because of her views and politics. Hillary is a wolf in sheep's clothing: she's running as a moderate democrat just to get more votes, but in reality she supports a socialist-like economy.

Ladies, don't vote for her just because you want to see a woman in the white house. Hillary will lead our country in the wrong direction, and the next president will have to spend billions of taxpayer dollars to undo the damage she'll cause to our country.

Gender in politics plays whatever role the American people allow of it. If we spend time commenting on her hair style, how many buttons she has done up her blouse and if she laughts too much or not enough, then we are playing into the gender issue. If we focus on her politics above anything else, then we are treating her as we would any candidate, male or female.

Polls are useless, for people who are biased will lie to this question. In reality, Hillary's biggest problem is not her gender but Bill. Many people don't want him for a third term. If Condoleeza Rice were running, she would win over Hillary.

I won't vote for Hilary. Not because she's a woman, but because she has disappointed me with her politics. It's the same disappointment I have in Condolezza Rice. I'm a woman and I would love to vote for a qualified female candidate, however I expect so much more from these women, and just like the men, they let me down.

Hillary is handicapped by her gender, Obama by his ethnicity, Romney by his religion. Maybe we as American's have move passed judging a book by it's cover, but the cover still HEAVILY influences us (myself included). Unfortunately the candidates don't help. They tend to run campaigns to dress up the cover instead of opening up the book and conveying some compelling substance. They too must know that the cover is 80% of the race.

I don't care what gender a person is. I vote on the issues. I won't vote for Hillary for reasons OTHER than her gender, but if I liked her stance on things, you bet I'd vote for a woman.

  • Posted By: soren lerby @ 11/26/2007 11:34:40 AM

Of course, gender plays big. Don't forget, if Hillary was born a man, she(he) was not able to marry Bill Clinton in the first place! She would still be just a lawyer somewhere. Not a junior US Senator from huge State like New York with all the left-leaning media lining up to support her no matter what. And there are scores of women voters whose only criteria for support is the gender of the candidate, and are ready to vote for Hillary just because she is a woman. They will vote for grandma next door if that is the only woman running for the President.

And of course, media can continue to play, as much as it pleases those man-hating feminist type in the ediotorial rooms of Newsweek and the like, this non-sensical "Does gender still matter?" question, as long as it helps Hillary's capmpaign. Expect more of this from now on since Hillary's campaign seems to be in trouble, as she began to fall behind Obama - a MAN!

Angelo USMC wrote: "Look around the world and ask yourself how many women rulers there are."

Weeell, a few third-rate countries may have had women rulers over the past few years. Let's see--Great Britain (Elizabeth I, Queen Victoria, Margaret Thatcher), Israel (Deborah the Judge, Golda Meir), India (Indira Gandhi), Pakistan (Benazir Bhutto), Ancient Egypt (Hatshepsut, Nefertiti, Cleopatra), China (Tzu-Hsi), Russia (Catherine the Great), France (Eleanor of Aquitaine, Joan of Arc), New Zealand (Helen Clark). Maybe not so third-rate after all.

I mean, I'm a man, and I don't even like Hillary. But if you're going to argue against her, at least base it on something that makes sense.

  • Posted By: AngeloUSMC @ 11/26/2007 1:21:12 AM

Hilary has no chance, and rightfully shouldn't. Look around the world and ask yourself how many women rulers there are. There is a reason for this no matter how much you would like to believe otherwise. She would be seen as weak, and our country would be weak by association, especially in middle eastern countries. On top of that there are better women for the job (Condollezza Rice), so if you want to make a mistake like making a woman President, then at least pick one who would be good at it. Your just voting for her because she is a woman and its a novelty, thank God for the electoral college.

  • Posted By: AngeloUSMC @ 11/26/2007 1:15:16 AM

There is nothing wrong with a woman President as long as she would be good at the job. So that counts out Hillary. A much better woman for the job would be Condolleeza Rice. Rice is respected around the world and has a history of doing good work in all things she undertakes. She is smart and strong. A bonus is that she is a republican, but before you burn her house down for being conservative, all you bleeding heart liberals should think about the fact that not only is she a woman but she is black, therfore you should automaticly kiss her ass like you do every other minority in politics regardless of her politics. Anyway, when you look into Hillary's eyes you can tell she is a power hungry psycho who probably will further damage our great country's standing in the world. If you expect change for the better in Iraq under Hillary, remember that most arabs will not take orders from a woman, infact the very idea of a woman leading the so called super power of the world, makes the US weak in the eyes of most Middle Eastern countries. For that reason, not to mention all the others, she would be the wrong choice for our country. My last thought is that she has no chance anyway. If she wins we are in more trouble then any of us could have ever imagined.

One would hope that a successful Presidential candidate would be chosen by the candidate's philosophies, beliefs, academic and practical political backgroumns, and perceived ability to conduct the nation's business successfully. Also, include the ability to chose talented support. The gender of the person ought not to be of consequence.

  • Posted By: photogenicalaska @ 11/25/2007 6:25:42 PM

I believe if we stopped looking at gender and start listening to the debates, you'll see that Hillary is clearly the most level headed and understands the issues. The men can't seem to get past what makes her different, and possibly stronger competition, the fact that she's a women. Sure women and different than men. Men claim that we are more likely to let our feelings get in the way of important decisions. Whereas what actually is happening is that women don't disregard their feelings, they use them to understand the situations better and to come up with better resolutions. Go Hillary, you're the best canidate whether or not you have to wear a bra.

I wouldn't vote for Hillary if I was paid. I am a woman, and a Democrat. But I won't vote for no Democrats this time around. Hillary is not fit to run this Country. She will have our Country a Socialist Country if she wins. And, are you sure that she is a woman?????

    • Posted By: Goody @ 11/25/2007 5:17:03 PM

Boy! doesn't politics bring out the "nasty" in some people?!

  • Posted By: Goody @ 11/25/2007 5:11:20 PM

Like none of the others are in it for the power???? Pleeeeeeease! Hillary, you have the support of our family all the way to the White House. Oh! how refreshing it will be to have a president who is intelligent, hard working and understands the real meaning of the word compromise!

  • Posted By: Aware! @ 11/25/2007 4:09:11 PM

I, a woman and a Baptist Pastor's wife, will vote for Hillary. It must be tough being a right wing conservative (I wouldn't say Christian). If you wouldn't vote for a woman, you probably wouldn't vote for a black person either. Will you vote for Huckabee or Edwards...?

    • Posted By: Wendlyn67 @ 11/25/2007 5:00:52 PM

I am another female evangelical Christian who would not hesitate to vote for Hillary in the general election, especially compared to what's available from the Republicans. But Edwards gets my primary vote. Incidentally, how can Republicans claim to follow Jesus? The current deficit of Biblical values and platforms among them is shameful; do they actually READ what the Bible says?.

  • Posted By: greenbug @ 11/24/2007 9:34:15 PM

Hillary is an awful choice for this kind of test. Half the party simply cannot stand Hillary the person. But, she plays the gender card and her supporters always cry sexism where there is none. She is disliked for herself.
many democrats love Pelosi and the people could care less she is a woman. the republicans hate her for her party not her sex. But, she is a better example of how gender is not a factor because of the dislike Hillary brings with her

    • Posted By: Celticproud @ 11/25/2007 4:56:20 PM

Yes, Hillary is a socialist. If that's what you want for our country, go right ahead and support her. These people are not rational and hate anyone who tries to get ahead. That's why they want to tax who they call the rich, to bring everyone down to a 3rd World country level. She is for illegal immigration so that she can make promises, give away hard-earning taxpayer's money, to get their vote. Same old, Same old.

    • Posted By: Celticproud @ 11/25/2007 4:53:12 PM

Hillary is a socialist. If that's what you want for this country, then go right ahead and vote for her. For me, I'd never vote for a socialist. She is in it for power, not what's in the best interest for this country.

    • Posted By: risingtide @ 11/25/2007 4:53:06 PM

If she really is so disliked, then why is she consistently ahead in the polls? Ever hear of selective perception? People hear what they want to hear and ignore the rest. The only gender card that has been played is by the press. Not once have I heard her say her particulars as a woman would make her a better president. What I have heard is how she would like to plug up the holes in spending like medical. I think sexism is very much alive, but I agree it is not an issue UNTIL WE MAKE IT ONE.

  • Posted By: risingtide @ 11/25/2007 4:44:20 PM

I don't care if the future president squats or stands when s/he uses the bathroom. What difference does it make so long as the health care issue is finally dealt with. It appears she is the only one who has the guts to address it. Health care (like over spending on the military) is a huge financial hole in the boat we call our economy. We have serious problems in this country and we need serious people to tackle them. I don't care for those who insult her for knowing (or not knowing) about her husband's affair. That, like her gender, is simply not important or relavent. I am not interested in her private life anymore than any other employer, only that she can do the job and do it well.

  • Posted By: luckygamble32 @ 11/25/2007 4:12:29 PM

i think it is ridiculous and uneducated to judget Hillary based on the fact that she didn't "know" what her husband was up to behind closed doors. As first lady she was busy doing plenty things of her own. Being Mr. and Mrs. President is not like a normal couple. And I think plenty of educated, smart people have found out their spouse was cheating on them. I do not think that is reason to condemn her. If anything, the fact that the Clintons seem to still have a healthy marriage and worked things out while raising a wonderful daughter are the things we should judge her by, if any.
