It's pathetic that someones views on something changes the instant they read an(an meaning one) article, a biased one, from the media. Considering Pullman said the book is about killing God, who should you believe the author or the biased media?

. No wonder the "fundamentalists" and "conservative" (and me thinks, a number of "liberals" too) are het up agasint Pullman's books/film. In the first place, he requires from them an openness that is strange and upsetting to their ways of life, thinking and making a living (as it were). They have long re-defined "atheist" tto mean not only those ones who do not believe/acknowledge God/s but ones who do not believe "their" God. They would like a monopoly on God (and how God should be viewed, revered, and obeyed. In their language, indeed, Pullman is an atheist (and so are you, dear). Not just an ordinary, you-can-ignore-him type of atheist, but a dangerous one--because he has a pulpit from whence he can voice out contrarian views: literature and art--twin tools of shattering power, as history shows so frequently.

And, oh, yes, Mr. Hannigan: pleased that will take time to thresh out what your kids make of the movie. It is not something they see and you take for granted they understand and interpret in ways that will not lead them astray and it gives you a golden opportunity to parent them along! Happy exchanges with your kids, father Michael! Would that most parents do the same.
