In my opinion this was a fair evenhanded introduction to the man Giuliani. Of course as a single article on a presidential hopeful it doesn't decide for me either way about whether to support him or not, and I wouldn't expect it to. For those of you who see the article as either pro or anti Giuliani your comments only served to broadcast your already held positions. Well done Newsweek, I enjoyed reading this article.

I love it! The democratic/liberal purveyers of "multiculturalism" are the first to jump on the "all Italians are mobsters" and "all Catholics are bizarre" bandwagon. If it helps Hillary get elected - well, then it MUST be ok, right? The ends justifies the means (hey, come to think of it, that could be the title for Hillary's article!) Well done, Newsweek - let's get the inherent hypocrisy of the Left out in the open once and for all.

Rudy is a threat to the liberal media and the Democrat Party. They know he's the only Republican that can win this election so they're going to do everything they can to make sure he's not the nominee. Negative stories against Rudy are going to be coming fast and furious.

Rudy transformed New York City; I know 'cause I worked there during his two terms as mayor. Also, no one talks about how great he was at shutting down the mafia when he was the US Attorney during the 1980s.

I am so sick of hearing how Rudy cleaned up New York City.Policies of Bill Clinton, allocating funds for more police on the streets of America;Mayor Dinkins and Commisioner Bill Bratton initiating their "Safe Cities,Safe Streets" program;and of course,a better economy(more jobs, better social programs, etc) were the reason for NYC's transformation-NOT RUDY GUILIANI!!!!!Please people read about this power-hungry maniac before casting your votes.Ask REAL New Yorkers what they feel about him-ASK HIS KIDS WHAT THEY THINK ABOUT THEIR DAD! "Ask NYC's Bravest"(the fire-fighters) who lost so many brave souls on 9/11,because Rudy was too bull-headed and "CHEAP" to replace radio's and communication equipment that would have saved so many lives that day. Before you critizise this or any article that tells the TRUTH about RUDY,do your own research. You will find RUDY is not qualified to be "DOG-CATCHER" much less President of the "FREE-WORLD".

Maybe Rudy should apply for a job as a prosecutor in NYC. Seems like a good fit. DOESN'T seem like PRESIDENT is a good fit.

As an Italian American, I am disappointed with Newsweek's use of the title "Growing up Giuliani" (in an obvious reference to the television show "Growing up Gotti.") I really couldn't get past the headline and the first paragraph - where allegations about racism are raised about Rudy. It's fascinating to me that politically-motivated (and, of course, never proven) charges of rascism based upon Rudy's appearance at a rally from 15 years ago appear immediately after a typical, anti-Italian slur in the article's title. Shame on you, Newsweek!

      Yes, shame on you Newsweak!

  • Posted By: barf1bagger @ 11/26/2007 12:46:14 PM

Newsweaks hit job on Rudi is expected. Everybody knows they lean way left and use their mag to forward their political agenda. If Mitt moves up in the national polls we read about crazy Mormons with a dozen wives.
Just don't expect to see anything in Newsweak that is critical of Hillary, Osama or any other of their sweetheart liberal candidates.
I take everything in the MSM with a grain of salt. The bias is so overwhelming that only left wingers like Michael Moore, George Looney and Sean Penn believe the crap that is out there.

A vote for Rudy Giuliani prett much guarantees the beginning of WWIII and a loss of personal liberties. If you're fine with being hated around the world, being spied on by our own government, for abortion, loss of the right to bear arms, etc... then vote for Guiliani.

All this talk of it having to be Giuliani or Clinton is ridiculous. Wake up people and stop letting the media decide who's going to be our president. Most people don't watch the debates, they don't research the candidates, they take what they hear on the morning news as the gospel and make their decision. The problem with that is the main stream media picks the candidates it wants to fill their agendas and that's all they report on. Anyone outside of that agenda either gets ignored or ridiculed. Stop being sheep people and think for yourselves. We need a president who's honest, trustworthy, consistent, and a man of integrity.

Check our www.RonPaul2008.com and make an informed decision. Don't just listen to the talking-heads. Read, read, read...

I know that a married couple can fall out of love and end up in divorce. But three times? That is not "I just don't love you anymore", it's the "you're not the person I married" kind of divorce. Probably three times. He sold himself to them and later they found out what he is really like. He should be a good politician. He'll sell himself, we'll (NOT ME) vote for him, and then we'll find out what he's really like........and we'll be sad we ever did it.

Why are soooo many people unaware of Rudy's friendship with accused child molester and crooked attorney priest, Monsignor Alan Placa? It does not say much for our country that so many evil persons go so far up the ladder. I hope all the people who put the likes of Bush and friends in office don't vote as they probably like Rudy and friends.

I've never voted for a Republican but I will vote for Rudy. I was not a supporter and can't say that I liked his methods but the results were there. He was authoritative, contentious and brittle but he cleaned up the streets and brought business and prosperity back to a critically ill city. Were it not for him NY would have went the way of the other rotting cities in the Northeast.

I know that a couple who is married, can fall out of love and therefore, get a divorce. It's common these days. But three times? Three times is not "fall out of love". Three times is "your not the person I thought I was marrying". Which, probably makes him a good politician. They sell themselves to us, we choose them, then we find out they are not the one we wanted.

While the article provided some interesting insights into the formation of Rudy's character the "Growing Up Giuliani" caption - a clear play on "Growing Up Gotti" smacks of anti-Italian-American Bias and is unfortunate. Rudy put away lots of Italian-Americans who needed putting away without batting an eye.

No one chooses their relatives save those they marry anyway. That is why Hillary's ties to the scandals associated with the Arkansas Mafia (i.e. the Clinton near criminal enterprise) seem fair game. Were we all judged by what our Uncles and Cousin did or did not do 40 years ago no one could run for City Council or dog catcher in Bayonne. Certainly who Hillary interned for and which radical goups and positions she held or personally supported during the same period do not seem to be worthy of ink or print but Rudy's extended family are? Well heck those who longed for camelot in the 60's better not dwell to long on where and when the Kennedy's wealth and influence came from.

Rudy may have been an extremely hardnosed prosecutor and driven City Executive - but given the dangerous world we live in these qualities will make him an excellent Commander in Chief. His penchant for loyalty and zealtry for results are just what the US needs in a war time President.

Does anyone believe Rudy would not grap the Washington bueaucracy by the throat and give it a firm shaking - ensuring responsiveness and results - especailly in areas related to law and order and public safety?

This is one New Yorker who witnessed firsthand Rudy's turnaround of a NewYork left in shambles by his predecessors who now counts himself as a dyed in the wool Rudy loyalist. One good turn deserves another.
