What an unobjective hatchet job, But then that is what one expects from Newsweek , whose subscription I cancelled years ago.

This article is horrible and should have never been posted. The complete disregard for objective analysis and the overstating of innuendos suggests that this writer can't be taken seriously. Thank you for waisting my time.

So, therefore you believe that Guiliani supports child molestation.....Get Real PEOPLE!!!! You are absurd!

  • Posted By: cdwitmer @ 11/25/2007 11:23:56 PM

Giuliani values loyalty? What about loyalty to one's spouse? I would depend on Giuliani to be ultimately loyal only to his own selfish interests. It is a disgrace, but hardly a surprise, that Pat Robertson would endorse him. And anyone squawking about "anti-catholicism" needs to get their head examined. Giuliani deserves to be excommunicated by the Catholic Church for how he has lived his life and for the positions he has taken.

Excommunicated.....Loyalty to ones' spouse.......What are we talking about ......this is going to be an election not church politics.......Get your priorities.....There are no priests running for president and never have there been....ever. The one who thought he was .was turned back to non relevence on a peanut farm. We are not electing a Priest.! We have all sinned and cannot expect perfection and innocense in our candidates. And would we really want to be led by an innocent.

Comment: This article glosses pretty quickly over Giuliani's extremely disturbing friendship with the accused child molester Alan Placa. For a much fuller accounting, check out this clip on youtube: http://youtube.com/watch?v=_Db2UPUkGyw . Frankly, I find it mind-boggling that Giuliani can be a front-runner when he protects and coddle's people like Placa and Kerik.

Jim...u workin for the 'New Nixonian' Hillary Clinton. Give it a rest.

      • Posted By: Joe B. @ 11/26/2007 12:46:54 AM

Actually, I'm not a big fan of Clinton (though I do think it's a little absurd to compare her to Nixon, who by rights should've been jailed for his crimes). Ultimately, I just find it kind of stomach-turning to think that someone as immoral as Giuliani seems to be could be president. Brass tacks: I think there's strong evidence that Placa molested several of his students and even more evidence that he was part of the churhc hierarchy that protected numerous abusers. And yet, Giuliani has the guy working for his consulting firm...but hey, if you thinks that's no big deal, you goahead and vote for the dirtbag, eh?

cdwitmer makes a good point. If a person's spouse cannot trust him or her, why should anybody else?

  • Posted By: scottfrost @ 11/25/2007 11:27:55 PM

How about a biographical article on Ron Paul?

  • Posted By: gozp @ 11/25/2007 11:02:55 PM

Guilt by Association, heavy reliance on a anti Rudy book, and a way to many platatudes at the cost of objective facts all hidden by the only exceptable form of Racism in the American Media. ANTI-CATHOLICISM!

  • Posted By: gozp @ 11/25/2007 11:01:57 PM

This article is a disgrace. More platatudes and speculation then objective facts based on a anti Guiuliani book and hearsay. You would think that the supporting the Kennedys would be worth more then a casual mention. It seems the only acceptable form of Racism allowed in the medium is still strong--ANTI CATHOLICISM!!

We would be naive to think that the way an individual conducts his personal life would not dictate the way he leads the country. Check out www.Ron Paul2008.com to find a man of unparalleled consistency, honesty, and integrity.

I am watching him and Duncan Hunter on the globalization issue which over rides all, as far as I'm concerned. Fair trade is not fair, cheap goods are not cheap. They are costing us our jobs, our economy, our independence, our heritage and ultimately, our soverign nation.

  • Posted By: Bsunn73573 @ 11/25/2007 8:32:44 PM

Evan, when can we expect your hit piece on Hillary? Never I would guess.

    • Posted By: jtsgrandmom @ 11/25/2007 8:57:25 PM

Haven't you noticed? Since the national poll saying 50% would never vote for Hillary, the liberals are eating their own. Where before they protected Hillary's foibles, now the press and the party highlight them. They are knocking her out the question is, whom would be her replacement? My bet is Gore will rise soon and rear his ugly head. But whomever they start pushing, Hillary's days in the liberal press' sunlight is over. Remember where you heard it first.

      • Posted By: caroline @ 11/25/2007 10:04:12 PM

Grandma: Gore has better things to do than clean up Bush's mess. Bush has messed up just about everything he has touched in the past 8 years. I pity anyone who takes over the Presidency. America begin going into an irreversible downward cycle the day Bush and his cronies stole the election.

BTW: have you told JTS that global warming is just a liberal plot? His generation will have to live with our generation's selfishness and self-serving denial.

        • Posted By: jtsgrandmom @ 11/25/2007 10:22:12 PM

FWIW, Bush is not running. We, the people have to deal with what is and what will be. I am no Bush afficianado, actually, if you follow my comments, you will find I don't care for any of the lot of them. Stole the election? Get OVER it. The country has been going downhill since Bush I set up Nafta and Clinton signed it. All I'm trying to do is get people who focus solely on ideology to take a GOOD LOOK at BOTH of the major parties. They are COMPLICIT in the selling off and giving away of all of our country's resources and turning it into a third world nation. Partisans are fiddling while Rome burns. I advocate voting ANY party but the two major ones in the presidential election, ain't a ONE of them that the media labels "front runners" worth the stuff I put in the brown paper bags when I walk my dog. I suggest you step back, stop fighting Bush, stop fighting your perceived ideological "enemy," and SEE that it's not your fellow Americans who are the problem. Take a LOOK at the polls. Bush is unpopular but Congress has even worse numbers. NUmbers that have actually gone down since the Dems have taken over. WE THE PEOPLE need to enforce term limits, TOSS THEM ALL and stop sending incumbants of BOTH parties back, time after time. That's the point I make. I hope you can see it. Do you not find the idea of Bush/Clinton/Clinton/Bush/Bush/Clinton/Clinton repulsive? When did public office become a birth right or the fruits of nepotism? HOW STUPID, AS A PEOPLE, CAN WE BE?

  • Posted By: easyreader @ 11/25/2007 10:17:01 PM

Any story about Giuliani's ethical lapses is limited only by space, but the fact that he testified that there was no problem with political oppression in Baby Doc Duvalier's Haiti was either perjury or stupidity, either one of which disqualifies him from higher office.

go to ronpaul2008.com if you want a breath of fresh air alternative to the thick smog of rudy.

    • Posted By: teaparty07.com @ 11/25/2007 9:55:28 PM

It's ashame that most Americans won't take the time to learn about Giuliani's past. If you want a president that is a power-hungry cross dresser, married his second cousin, has ties to the mob, dodged the draft multiple times, and is friends with criminals then Giuliani is your man. If you want someone that's been consistently promoting the Constitution for 30 years, married to the same woman for 50 years, believes in personal freedom, is against abortion, and is the only Republican ready to stop this senseless war then take the time to check out Ron Paul. You owe it to yourself and your country.

    Dear Evan and Suzanne;
Instead of carrying the party line with this obvious smear piece, why not try writing something that reflects your true journalistic integrity? I realize that you'd like to stay employed, but a fair journalistic assessment
would garner more attention, especially coming from Newsweek.

    • Posted By: jimnews @ 11/25/2007 7:26:42 PM

that's right! they could could go work for Fox and let Brit co-author it Rudy himself!!

The liberals? The liberals are against Guliani? WAKE UP, PEOPLE! Guliani IS a liberal. Please, take off the red and blue shaded glasses and take an unbiased look. Almost every candidate on both sides IS left of center including and especially, Guliani. Issue by Issue, even Guliani has been quoted admitting most of his positions agree w/Hillary's.
