I live in Hope, Arkansas and know that the illegals had to be undergoing the citizenship process to even qualify for the scolarships. These kids had been in America their whole lives. They did not crawl over the border by themselves as infants. They realized that what their parents did was wrong, so they were doing what it took to change their own future, like becoming a citizen and getting a good education. They were not given anything ahead of any legal citizens. By the time they were out of college and legal, they could be productive taxpaying citizens instead of Mitt Romney's landscape crew getting paid low wage cash under the table. If they had just kept on without a college education, they would prpbably end up costing taxpayers a HUGE amount more, because the federal government would have been paying their welfare, food stamps, and housing for many many years. I would rather help pay for 2 years tuition for someone who is trying to do the right thing, than to pay years and years of benefits for lazy folks (all races including whites) who are able to work but won't. Also, life is MUCH better in Arkansas now than it was before Gov. Huckabee came into office.

I have lived most of my adult life as a democrat, but can no longer back an anything goes agenda. Our great country has been on a downward spiral for some time now. Children are subject to random shooting sprees at schools, parents are working themselves to death to try to get ahead while their children are neglected or "bought" to keep them happy, citizens do what gets THEM ahead in life regardless of the effect they have on others and the government officials have no morals. Our country is hated around the world and there is no sign of things getting better soon. We need a peacemaker. We need someone to lead this country back to greatness. We need someone who looks out for the poor. We need a leader who isn't overcome by greed and self-entitlement. We need to stop polarizing our government to suit our own agenda. We need to unite as a country for the better of us all and our future generations to come. WE NEED HUCKABEE!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mike Huckabee is merely a student who is learning from the best teacher, Ron Paul.

I have lived in Arkansas for the past 15 years and Huckabee is not for illegal immigration, Penny is a moron. What Huckabee is for is children, children should not have to suffer for stupid, immoral, or lawless parents. If you want someone who is real and and honest, I have found this to be Mike Huckabee. If you want someone who is knowledgeable about how to run a goverment, vote for him. The rest are politicians to the core and they are lying there butts off. The rest will do anything for a vote including sell their children. Personally I am tired of being lied to. And as for the democrats,,, May God help us if one of those should get elected.

You forgot to mention the higher taxes and the fact that children of illegal immigrants otherwise known as "anchor babies" should be illegal. These children are not victims, they're used as a free pass into this country.

For all his much-vaunted, "I'm an evangelical but I'm not angry about it", calculation, he's a sanctimonious, dangerous man. All the more dangerous because he packages his extremism is all that smarmy, aw-shucks ooze. ANd I would hope for better in your news analysis: Remember, it was the media who asured us --regularly in the last two election cycles -- just how "likeable" Bush was. Please choose your words more judiciously.

Even though CNN ignored Ron Paul for the first 36 minutes of the debate, and even though CNN refused to allow Ron Paul to answer the immigration question which they asked of all other 7 candidates, and even though CNN gave Ron Paul far less speaking time than almost all the other candidates, the Ron Paul movement for limited Constitutional government will NOT be silenced. Ron Paul is poised to beat ALL of the other candidates in terms of fundraising during this quarter, and to break another all-time fundraising record on December 16, the anniversary of the Boston Tea Party. This is country is in a peaceful revolution. The people are sick and tired of what they're getting. And Ron Paul happens to be lucky enough to be part of this peaceful revolution for liberty and limited Constitutional government.

I agree with Jane111111...I think this Country has definately lost it's way. We cannot and should not dismiss any candidate just because he/she is religious...enough of this already!!!

With Mr Huckabee, I am proud to say that I am a Republican. He does'nt waiver, Mitt Romney reminds me of Kerry. I don't think he knows what he believes.. It seems that his answers are what he feels people want to hear. And I don't believe that our president should be about pleases people, but rather what he feels is best for our counry. I believe he represents what a republican trully is. Shelia Jordan

Huckabee is your guy if you like your taxes raised by 210%. I lived in Arkansas while he was governor, and gasoline is very expensive. So are sales taxes. Most poor and middle class can't afford these prices.

The separation of church and state strengthens both church and state.
In addition, we must consider that, for a leader of ***ALL*** the people,
that leader ***MUST*** be ALL INCLUSIVE, and that is not possible for
someone who espouses a religion that excludes other religions, like
Christianity does ( like all of the religious beliefs do ).

Remember governance is an INCLUSIVE concept.
    Religion is an EXCLUSIVE concept.
    THEY DO NOT MIX.

I can say of the debates I have watched, Huckabee by far gives the most clear and intelligent responses. And I could not disagree more with the notion that some type of military service makes that big of a election difference anymore. I really hope this guy wins. he has got my vote.

This country is so morally bankrupt, we are in desperate need of someone that is not afraid to talk plain truth. There is no right or wrong any more. We need that line to be defined again. Mike Hckabee is a breath of fresh air of truth who recognizes the times we are in. If he were an independent I believe he could sweep votes from across the board. GO HUCKABEE!!!!!!

I am not a Republican or a Democrat. I am an American who is finding that neither party has much to offer when it comes to genuine leadership these days.

With that said, I saw Huckabee on Meet the Press many months back and I was impressed with his direct answers. The questions he was asked were type that most candidates tend to dance around instead of just giving a straight answer. As they preface their answers, they tend to get lost in long, drawn out soliloquies never answering the question asked of them.

It was refreshing to hear Huckabee answer honestly then and I am glad his steadfastness is begining to pay off. I aslo appreciate the intelligence and candor of Ron Paul. I hope that it will begin to pay off for him as well. Really, each of these fine Americans would benefit this nation serving in some capacity, if they do not occupy the White House, in the next administration.

Our country has deteriorated to the point that the only people that have influence to make good changes are the wealthy politicians and the elite establishments such as the media and networks. To be successful in politics in the U.S. one must "sell out" to the parties and these wealthy influences. Our country was founded on religious freedom; that of Christianity. Other faiths were allowed and tolerated. We have evolved into a multicultural society that is pulled into all directions. There is no commonality to hold us together anymore. I am sick and tired of the Washington elites making decisions for us when actually they are the ones that really benefit! We no longer have real leadership in this country and we are throwing away our children's futures! I am for voting a man in that has character, no Washington ties, of real middle class background and values that don't change by the polls. I believe that Mike Huckabee is the man that we need NOW! Don't sit back any longer and let the illegals, far left minorities and Washington elites make decision on their own behalves any longer! Let's take our country back now or we will lose what we have worked for to that giant sucking noise Ross Perot used to talk about. Get out and vote for real leadership you can trust. You may not agree with a man of faith, but he is probably the most honest one to be fair as he leads the changes we have needed since Ronald Reagan left office! Vote values, leadership, integrity and Change! Vote Huckabee! JamesW

Whats wrong w/ the Republicans. Why don't they stop courting these consevatives (who are only a block of votes) and go for the moderate path which the majority of the people of the US are. By alienating the moderates, they'll never win. It's time to end this religious crap in politics and go with an enlightend vision. We have seen how these conservitive hipocrites divided the country and destroyed our world standing.

Our tolerance of various religious beliefs which are responsible for a great deal of the cruelty and death in this world, is the problem not the solution. Read Sam Harris' "The End of Faith: Religion, Terror and the Future of Reason", even religious folks can't argue with such reason and logic.

    • Posted By: Disciple @ 11/29/2007 2:29:23 PM

Using the name of a religion "Christianity" in particular is a whole lot different from actually following it. If you actually understand what Jesus taught it has nothing to do with cruelty and death. When a man is lead by the principles of Jesus it ultimately ultimately protects, promotes peace and allows freedom s to all people not just Christians. Prv 29:2 When the righteous thrive, the people rejoice; when the wicked rule, the people groan. Mike Huckabees submission to God shows his own humility (not meaning lack of strength and conviction), which also translates to Gods command to treat everyone with love and respect whether they are Christian or not. We are commanded to hate the sin but love the person so that does not mean we have to agree and tolerate abortion, gay marriage etc. He can be friendly but disagree with people and even have close relationships with them. This is a part of faith and following Jesus that many Christians have a hard time living out but when you find a true follower of Christ , you will like him even though you dont agree with him and that is what you find in Mike Huckabee and why his faith is not offensive.

Why have you chosen to follow the teachings of a religious humanist? Your standard for judging validity between the Bible and the writings of humanist religionist teachers are equal I assume?

This country was founded on Freedom of Religion not Freedom from Religion! I hope and pray that we the American people vote for and make Mike our next President. I truly beleive he is the one to lead this Country out of the mess it is currently in. God Bless America!!! Merle Dwain Abbott mda123@windstream.net

re: This country was founded on Freedom of Religion not Freedom from Religion -
Freedom FROM religion was exactly what the constitution is about. Our forefathers were wise enough to foresee the Middle Eastern type horror possible when state religions take power. Anyone who wants to convert others to their religious point of view, by definition, has a serious agenda that has no business in government.

The more I listen to Mike Huckabee the more I like him.
