Lack of Military experience didn't stop voters from electing Clinton twice. Only in America can a draft dodger sleep in the White House, and a veteran sleep in a cardboard box. :-(

i lived in Arkansas under Huckabees reign. He let Don Tyson basically monopolize a whole town and kept people who worked 40+ hard hours a week live under the poverty level. How could he not realize that a WHOLE town was and is in trouble..I lived there for 3 years and i couldnt bring myself to vote for Huckabee, no matter how charming and well spoken he is.

Good character, knowledge and experience are all key components that make a good president, with Character being the highest priority that I look for in a Presidential candidate. I think Mike Huckabee is a man of character and agree with his two books on the subject: "Character is the Issue" and "Character Makes a Difference." Thank you for the article.

CNN askd the Republican's many questions that the Democrats didn't get from CNN. Rather than making them look bad, it did just the opposite. Now the CNN liberal crowd has many more choices they can't ignore. And, Mike Huckabee leads the pack of excellent Republicans, because he knows who he is and what he is talking about [and what he is not afraid to talk about].

The last person we need as President of the United States of America is an ordained Baptist Minister. Anyone who is going to allow their religious beliefs to influence policy should be marked off the list. We've seen how well that strategy has work for our current Idiot in Chief.

From and Arkansan who knows, Huckabee's flashy, exuberant personality is a wonderful ruse for his extremely conservative, right wing agenda he has done such a great job of hiding. The Huckabee you see on stage at the debates is not the Huckabee you will find in the White House come January 1st, 2009 if he wins this election. I guarantee that!

I didn't know about the debate. I'm not the most computer-savvy, but is thee somewhere I can still see it or get a transcript of it? Thanks.

I AM BEGINNING TO TAKE A SERIOUS LOOK AT GOV. HUCKABEE. AS FAR AS EXPERIENCE ABOUT FOREIGN POLICY.......WELL, HOW MUCH INTELLIGENCE HAVE YOU SEEN WITH PREVIOUS PRESIDENTS.

Huckabee won the debate and is a great candidate, I am not a republican, but I would vote for him. And all those people who criticize his support for scholarship policies can get educated and realize that this is America and we are supposed to help people, all people, realize their dreams if they are willing to fight for them.

Ron Paul? Are you joking!!! There seems to be a few people on here pulling for him with loud (obnoxious) voices that have completely subscribed to there own delusion regarding his chances. Ron Paul does not have a chance at winning the nomination and most rational thinkers know it.
I've always liked Huckabee but have not considered him as an electable candidate until now. He was hands down the winner last night and will no doubt be in contention now more than ever. I will continue to watch him closely.

I am not a republican, but after seeing Huckabee i may convert. He made everyone else look like a bumbling idiot or a buffoon.

Huck's got my vote. Terrific performance in last nights debate. A man of honor and integrity.

Lack of military and foreign policy experience -- HA!!!! So being AWOL from the guard and shooting jack rabbits from the back porch of the governors mansion, like the current occupant of the White House did, is what he REALLY needs!!!!

I am a US citizen that came to this country legaly. Americans need to understand: If an "illegal" is given an scholarship they can get a student visa and be legal. This whole immigration discussion is smoke and mirrors. How much of the national debt is the result of so-called progrmas for illegals? and how much of the national debt is the result of the war in Iraq? The war in Iraq has already cost EACH american $20,000. Programs for illegal immigrants has costed EACH american $0.0001. I agree with the previous writer that we need to get care of ourselves first, SO LETS NOT FALL FOR RIDICULOUS SUBJECTS. Immigration reform is not the biggest probelm our economy faces.

Thanks for the great article. I enjoyed Gov. Huckabee's answers to those silly YouTube questions! I love the idea of a consumption tax - everyone needs to go to fairtax.org to learn more about this. No more loopholes for the extremely wealthy. It is the called the Fair Tax for a good reason - even lawbreakers pay into the system and start doing there share to pay taxes through a consumption tax.. I like Mike!!!

This one is for Mr. Fineman....I just wanted to thank you for writing an article that is so easy for a newcomer (to the US) like me to follow. I have been trying to understand the ins and outs of the electoral race and this article certainly helped to understand better. Thanks again
