I love how people say RP supporters are nuts, and yet there's people here championing a man who can't see the truth of evolution. It's the blind leading the blind.

    • Posted By: christopherwilkerson @ 11/30/2007 3:32:35 AM

Whose truth? Your's? Darwin's? Do you decide whats true? Maybe I say that YOU don't see the truth: That God created everything. Not necessarily what I believe, but is my point not valid? Secularists rely on so-called scientists and scholars, while religious people rely on priests and ministers to tell them what is true. Who is more blind: A religious person who may have doubts regarding the infallibility of Darwin's theory, or a secularist who refuses to even accept the possibility that there may be a Creator?

Here is a quote from Thomas Jefferson in 1813 "History I believe furnishes no example of a priest-ridden people maintaining a free civil government. This marks the lowest grade of ignorance, of which their political as well as religious leaders will always avail themselves for their own purpose."

blah blah blah.. jefferson wasn't that great really, if you think about it. Maybe if he had prayed, he would have been on something better than the nickel. :) Full disclosure: Im not a Christian or a religious person.

Here is a quote from James Madison from 1785 "What influence, in fact, have ecclesiastical establishments had on society? In some instances they have been seen to erect a spiritual tyranny on the ruins of the civil authority; on many instances they have been seen upholding the thrones of political tyranny; in no instance have they been the guardians of the liberties of the people. Rulers who wish to subvert the public liberty may have found an established clergy convenient auxiliaries. A just government, instituted to secure and perpetuate it, needs them not."

    • Posted By: christopherwilkerson @ 11/30/2007 3:16:55 AM

"in no instance have they been the guardians of the liberties of the people." I disagree with Madison. Perhaps he could not have been aware that the anti-slavery movement was born in the ranks of Christian soldiers. "A just government,.. needs them not." I believe he is referring to 'an established clergy'. Its true, a government shouldn't establish a state religion. Thats why we put that rule in the Bill of Rights.

Here is a quote from a letter from John Adams to Thomas Jefferson, "I almost shudder at the thought of alluding to the most fatal example of the abuses of grief which the history of mankind has preserved -- the Cross. Consider what calamities that engine of grief has produced!"

    • Posted By: christopherwilkerson @ 11/30/2007 3:08:47 AM

That only suggest that Adams had a bias against Christianity, as you do. It does not negate the fact, however, that this country was founded on Judeo-Christian principles.

  • Posted By: like-N-Mike in SC @ 11/29/2007 4:50:03 PM

RE: "The founding fathers of the United States were predominately Deists, not Christians" This line is a bunch of hogwash right out of the leftist, atheist playbook. They are taken completely out of context and are being used to promote the FALSE (that's me yelling) proposition that this country was always a secular nation. One of the first acts of the 1st congress was to order BIBLES to be given to the indians so that they could come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. Sorry Lab'o, your garbage won't wash.

    • Posted By: superme74 @ 11/29/2007 4:54:04 PM

      God bless you...

      • Posted By: Timothy_hack @ 11/29/2007 6:36:20 PM

Were those the same BIBLES that came wrapped in the blankets that gave the Indians smallpox?

        • Posted By: christopherwilkerson @ 11/30/2007 3:03:51 AM

That's a myth. There was never a concerned effort to use germ-warfare to wipe out the indians.

Please, I beg you, look into the truth of what's happening to our nation, to our Constitution--to our rights and freedoms. We are being conditioned to accept fascism as a way of life, accepted out of fear.
I also implore you research Ron Paul. Jesus is in charge, of course, but Ron Paul may be the last chance sent our way. The US is skating on very thin ice. We are in dire straits.

By the way, did anyone notice one of the networks giving Huckabee the credit for the idea of getting rid of the IRS, when Ron Paul has been stating this all along? Did anyone notice how many of the candidates gave their opinions last night that were exactly in line with Ron Paul's opinions since the beginning of his campaign? They are all trying to jump on Ron Paul's bandwagon. They know he's right and they know his message is resonating with the American people, so now they will claim his ideals as their own. This should tell you something about the other candidates characters.

    • Posted By: christopherwilkerson @ 11/30/2007 2:54:35 AM

Though I am a Huckabee supporter, I have great respect for Congressman Paul. Maybe we do need to do all the things that Ron Paul advocates, but I truly believe that in that process, our nation would crash and burn, with all our enemies piling on. Perhaps that would take us back to our roots. I think most of Ron Paul's support comes from anti-war hippies, but that doesn't change the fact that he is correct on many things. ..... The FairTax, or at least the idea behind it has been around for 20 or 30 years, and perfected by the efforts of many people. I don't think it would be fair to give credit to any one person.

    • Posted By: VFW6986 @ 11/29/2007 6:30:28 PM

YA RAZBURY , I NOTICED! I tuned in a while ago and Ron Paul is getting my vote and my grass roots contribution.

      Keep on thinking!

  • Posted By: Netzorro @ 11/29/2007 6:08:49 PM

Huckabee is a non-factor. No money and no grass roots suooprt. Our elected officials need to govern by the consent of the governed and not their not their own intuition.

    • Posted By: christopherwilkerson @ 11/30/2007 2:44:22 AM

Will Huckabee be a non-factor after he wins Iowa, South Carolina and Florida? Sure, he doesn't have the money of the corporate, Wall street favored candidates like Romney and Giuliani. But the grassroots support grows every day, while other candidates supporters fall away and jump on Huckabee's band-wagon. How else would Huckabee be ahead of Romney in Iowa? From 2% to 28% in a couple months! I don't really understand your comment about the consent of the governed. In my view, that only applies to the legislative branch. We tell them what to do, they write the law, then the executive leads by either signing it into law or vetoing. We elect presidents based on their ability to lead and make sound judgments Or at least thats what I thought we were supposed to do. Anybody: feel free to correct me.

  • Posted By: razbury @ 11/29/2007 4:52:50 PM

We're living on past blessings. This country has turned from God and the Constitution written by our fore-fathers, which served us well for 230 years. There's only one candidate who is trying to preserve the Constitution, who's trying to save this nation from eminent destruction, who knows how really grave this situation is that we're in--and he's not Huckabee.
If you think the illegal immigration problem is not really that big of a problem, think again. You're fooling yourself. If you think the US is welcomed in ruling the world, think again. We're hated, and we're making more enemies everyday by occupying their lands, and bombing them with depleted uranium. Do you think you're going to hear about this on the 6 o'clock news? Of course not. Look it up!
They hate us because of our freedoms? What a load of crap. The answer must be to take away our freedoms then, huh? Which is being done everyday while Americans yawn. I guess if you're not a terrorist, you have nothing to worry about. If you believe that, you are a fool.
We need someone who knows what a hole we've dug for ourselves, and who has the knowledge to get us out. Again, Huckabee is not that man.
Pray for guidance on this! Do not be deceived--again.

      AMEN Raz !

      • Posted By: eddybear73070 @ 11/29/2007 5:17:27 PM

Excuse me..I don't think we are here for a popularity contest..I don't care that we are hated that should not be our problem..here is another quote from our first president George Washington "It is our true policy to steer clear of entangling alliances with any portion of the foreign world" So why do you care...we need to remember what our parents used to teach us, don't worry about what other people think of you if you know you are doing what is right. I wish we would blow the entire country up of Iran and get it over with, they will never like us, get that through your heads, they hate us because we believe in our freedoms, and I would fight for it if I could. Bush told us the war was going to be long..and he said it would be tough..are you forgetting what happend to us on 9/11, I have not, we need to finish what we start and when the tough gets going we need to stick it out and show the world we are still a force to be reckoned with..I am tired of all you sissy babies thinking we should lie down and say oh, we made a mistake, we are sorry for you blowing up all those innocent people and if you promise not to do it again we will forget about it..what is wrong with you liberal democrats..gosh...you know Republicans abolished slavery and we stopped segregation but no, you democrats think you did all that..you guys really have short memories and it troubles me that you can't think for yourselves or that you never investigate things..you take people at their word..well start checking facts, and get your news other than from Jon Stewart or Jay Leno for once..turn to CNN, or Fox!

        • Posted By: razbury @ 11/29/2007 6:34:17 PM

No offense, but anyone who would believe FAUX news is an idiot. They are the kings of propaganda. And all the other MSM outlets are in line right behind them. By the way, did you know Rupert Murdoch, who owns FOX, supports Hillary? Democrat or Republican, who cares? They are just different sides of the same corrupt coin. I am a registered Republican and very conservative.

Yes, I remember 911 very well. I have spent hundreds and hundreds of hours researching the events of that time. Have you? The Bush administration was well aware the attack was coming and did nothing to stop it. The PNAC wrote in their Sept 2000 report "Rebuilding America's Defenses", the following:
          "Further, the process of transformation,
even if it brings revolutionary change, is
likely to be a long one, absent some
catastrophic and catalyzing event ??? like a
          new Pearl Harbor."
--and voila, one year later, we got it. They needed the terror attack to realize their "dreams and aspirations." Not to mention, war is very profitable for some and it was very easy to start stripping terrified Americans of their rights via the Patriot Act. Americans hardly notice as GWB gives himself more and more dictatorship authorities.

Maybe you don't care that we're hated, but considering that hate is the determining factor of why they want to kill us, I do care. We are making more enemies everyday. Even Australia is backing off aligning with us. There are innocent people dying. You believe that is the right thing to do? Your parents taught you that? I'm sure you don't care who's dying so long as it's not your innocent loved ones though. And if you're thinking, "they'll follow us home", what in the world is keeping them from doing that now?? Our borders are wide open for anyone to cross so who's going to stop them? Our soldiers need to be here, defending us!

We bombed them with depleted uranium the first time when Bush Sr. was in office. We permanently poisoned their lands! Why don't you look into the cause of Gulf War Syndrome. We've killed our own people with DU. If you want someplace to start, go to google video and watch "Beyond Treason."

Iraq did not attack us. There were no WMD's there. But we did get to establish military bases in the region and a pipeline, so we're all set to occupy them forever! We are occupying lands we have no business in. Then you think we're hated because of our freedoms? That's an ignorant argument. I thought it was stupid when they first said it on 911.

You are the one who is blindly believing. You need to investigate the truth and disregard the official lies.

Shazam! Yeah???..Huckabee is a ???GENUINE??? CONSERVITIVE hand picked by corporate America and on display via the media. Huckabee is the Mother of all losers who is constantly being ???powdered up??? by the media especially with illegitimate polls. Mike is going to end the IRS now that sounds familiar. The fact that all these skeletons are literally falling out of Mike???s closet and the media has given him a free pass is amazing. The soft ball thrown to Mike about the Bible, it was on one of the tablets Mosses dropped that Republicans should not have Dick Morris in their camp. How many conservatives has used DICK MORRIS ? ONLY MIKE HUCKABEE! Speaking of LIBERAL TILT Huckabee or ???TAX HIKE MIKE??? has an awful tax record at the end of the day. To hear Mike tell the story you almost hear harp music. Mike is full of it ! Mike is a HUGE ILLEGAL ALIEN SUPPORTER and has found more ways to help ILLEGALS THAN AMERICANS. Mike???s state is in absolute KAOS on Lou Dobbs as a feature story as the debate was on the air ; local government has had to try and stop the Illegal alien bleeding, a wound that ???Mike Open Borders Huckabee??? inflicted on his state. The silver-tongued DEVIL will say anything for a VOTE. This Half Jim Baker Half Gommer Pyle has SOLD HIS SOUL AND WANTS OURS! Idiots like Howard Fineman should remember what happened to Ned Beaty in reference to admiring a ???prerty mouth???, The American taxpayer will find themselves in a simular position as Ned Beaty if they vote for Gomer. I am from Arkansas and have seen what Huckabee can do, I am certain Mike can do for the country what he did for this great state.

    • Posted By: Braes @ 11/30/2007 2:40:40 AM

He gave the legislature choices on how to fund what they wanted. You have seen sound bytes, I lived here.

  • Posted By: Braes @ 11/30/2007 2:35:48 AM

Huckabee was a good Governor here in Arkansas and did a fine job in the debate. I am a Southern Conservative D, and while He is not my candidate, you Republicans won't win the crucial middle of America without him. Thompson's slime ad was out of context. Desperation like that loses me. As far as foreign policy, I'll take someone who won't lie to me, and gets decent advise, than the last R that stole a couple of elections and divided our nation and the world. Mike doesn't have a tough act to follow. I am glad I am a Democrat, but wish Mike were on our ticket.

college scholarships for illegals? My god. True citizens have no health care, pay taxes and die for this country. Americans first! After the illegal amnesty defeat you would think the message would be clear/ Is no one listening? sign me............
    Vet who earned his scholarships.

    • Posted By: christopherwilkerson @ 11/30/2007 2:34:58 AM

"College scholarships for illegals My god." Yes. My GOD! the dreaded illegals! Don't buy into this line. Find out the facts for yourself. The proposed scholarships were only for good students who were in the process of becoming legal, same as there fellow classmates. But this measure never passed! Sooo..Mike Huckabee now wants open borders? Hell no! Do a little research and actually find out what the Gov. says about illegal immigrants.
      Thanks

The difference between conservatives/Republicans and liberals/Democrats is that liberals are free-thinking and conservatives are told what to think. Turn off the poison of Fox News and think for yourselves. Stop wasting you time thinking about religion and concentrate on the reality of human beings. The same blood flows through bin Laden's veins as yours. Stop giving them the hatred they covet so much.

    • Posted By: christopherwilkerson @ 11/30/2007 2:27:32 AM

I think all human beings, whether they are liberal or conservative are told what to think, whether it's by parents or teachers or books or newspapers or the TVnews. What matters is what they do with that information, how they analyze it, and how that affects their decisions and behavior. For instance, a liberal reads the New York Times, makes a sign that says "no blood for oil", and then goes to stand on a street corner somewhere to shout at anyone that walks by. They also believe that they are much smarter than anyone who wastes time believing in a God, and won't hesitate to mock you for it. Free- thought indeed. On the other hand, a conservative gets up to go to work so he can provide for his family and lead a simple, happy life without too much intrusion and hassle from the government.

    • Posted By: ApolloKnowsAll @ 11/29/2007 8:02:31 PM

Why don't you turn off your CNN poison? I forgot, that is unbiased reporting. They tell you every five minutes how good they are.

The reality of human beings is that bin laden wants to kill you and you think this is a Bush invention. I had threats on my life by jihadists in France back in 1989. That was long before Bush.

  • Posted By: wnorred @ 11/29/2007 6:35:37 PM

Wow, the Huckster has Fineman all wrapped up. This southern Christian has zero chance of voting for anyone who gives my money to a person breaking the law and excuses it with a "we're better than that"! Better than what? Better than someone who asks people to refrain from breaking the law? He's obviously one of those evangelican liberals we've been hearing about. Next he'll be preaching global warming and how we need to sign Kyoto. Yucko!

    • Posted By: christopherwilkerson @ 11/30/2007 2:14:47 AM

First of all, the executive branch doesn't give money away. If the representative legislature uses tax money for something you don't like, then address your grievances to them. Secondly, Governor Huckabee doesn't excuse or apologize for what he believe is fair and right. America is better than punishing a studious child for something their parents did. The law must be respected and the border must be closed to illegal invaders. Governor Huckabee believes this fervently. But he also believe that a child that had no choice in coming here, and is on the path to becoming legal SHOULD be eligible for the same scholarship his classmates are eligible for-- if he has good grades. What is so hard about this?

    • Posted By: WAKE UP AMERICA @ 11/29/2007 6:38:41 PM

Where do you get your infomation about topics like global warming? What exactly is your issue with Kyoto? Just curious.

  • Posted By: Christine Winters @ 11/29/2007 7:19:01 PM

We keep hearing Mike is "likeable." Why? Because he is comfortable in his own skin. He knows exactly what he believes and doesn't mind telling us all about it, because he's not inventing positions on the spot. And he is not threatened by those who disagree with him. He knows his opponents are just as valuable in the eyes of God as he is. I'd love the privilege of voting for him in November '08.

just what the country needs- an evangelical president who doesn't 'believe' in evolution and has no foreign policy experience- perfect if you wnat to see the US continue to slide backwards in the world

    • Posted By: christopherwilkerson @ 11/30/2007 2:01:42 AM

So you disagree with Huckabee's stance on the accuracy of Darwin's evolutionary theory...how does this inform your expectations of how he would govern? I don't see the relevance. And could you define 'foreign policy experience'? Is it something that Reagan had? How about Kennedy? What would satisfy your demands for foreign policy experience?

    • Posted By: ApolloKnowsAll @ 11/29/2007 8:05:13 PM

Huck will not be good for America, I agree, but I don't give a rat's patootie about what CNN tells us about the rest of the world's opinions of us.

Huck is a flash in the pan. The media needed a story, he is it today. Slow news cycle. He is a great preacher, but wants government to do everything for you. Big on taxes...big on giving benefits to illegal aliens. bad for tax paying US citizens

  • Posted By: roguecowboy@charter.net @ 11/30/2007 1:52:36 AM

How can you say Rudy "DID FINE" on the Bible question? He clearly does not believe in the 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th COMMANDMENTS. He also stated he reads the Bible but picks and chooses what to believe. Evangelicals and most Christians will never vote for him.

  • Posted By: ApolloKnowsAll @ 11/29/2007 7:58:59 PM

He wants to give illegal aliens instate scholarships, but does not want to require proof of citizenship to register to vote?
8 of the 9/11 hijackers were registered to vote. HUCK would have given them scholarships as well.

He is a slick preacher, but we can not have a minister as we are engaging in this war on jihadists--ihe will turn it into a crusade.

    • Posted By: christopherwilkerson @ 11/30/2007 1:51:41 AM

"He wants to give illegal aliens instate scholarships" .. I think in your mind you see Mexicans and Arab terrorists lined up while Mike Huckabee stands by a stack of scholarships handing them out to anyone who wants one. Can you not see the irrationality of your statements? Stop trying to mislead people. Consider this: An illegal alien crosses the border and begins a new life in Arkansas They enroll their child in elementary school. Over the years that child does very well, making good grades as graduation nears, his peers who also made good grades are eligible for a scholarship. But suddenly, he's s.o.l.: he's not eligible because all those years ago, his parents broke the law. So Mike Huckabee wanted to fix this unfairness. He said that if that good student began the process to finally become legal, he too would be eligible for that same scholarship, which he would've earned through hard work. I suppose that in some people's minds, rather than going to college and getting a good career to become a productive citizen, he should' have just been shipped back to Mexico. Well, Mike Huckabee's proposal did not pass, so it's kind of a moot point isnt it? Oh, and drop the anti-religious rhetoric. Try to respect other people's beliefs.

  • Posted By: eddiewhere @ 11/29/2007 8:06:13 PM

Huckabee unlike the other candidates is a conservative , so it should be no surprise that he is leading in the Iowa polls. People know what he stands for. There is a serious threat in our world today, dirty bombs. Three men were arrested for allegedly trying to sell weapons-grade uranium, which apparently came from the former USSR. It is very easy now a days to get enough uranium to make a dirty bomb. There are many avenues a terrorist organization can pursue to obtain these materials. It could be through mafia organizations in Eastern Europe who have connections with Russian organized crime or government officials in Asia, Europe and the Middle East who all share common interests with these terrorist organizations. Which candidate can destabilize these threats and how will they secure the Russian nuclear, chemical and biological arsernal?? Which candidate can best manage the American relationship with China, Russia and the Middle East?? Having a bad realationship with these countries will make it impossible to successfully nolify this threat. Do any of these candidates have the skill, courage and unwavering determination to confront this issue.

    • Posted By: ApolloKnowsAll @ 11/29/2007 8:44:13 PM

Actually, people think that he is conservative, like W. was supposed to be. He will massively increase government programs and government spending. Yes, he cut some taxes, after he had raised them.
He also wants to give money to illegal aliens? Take care of US citizens first, Pastor. We criticize Iran for having a religious leader heading the country and yet some people want to elect a fire and brimstone pastor from Arkansas?
Remember the last governor from Arkansa? Increased taxes, increased government telling you what to do. Huck will do the same thing, with the best of intentions, but still will be a conservative progressive...big government republican. Vote no to the Huchster.

      • Posted By: christopherwilkerson @ 11/30/2007 1:35:57 AM

MIke Huckabee is a true conservative. He advocates a strong national defense, lower taxes and spending (plus the FAIRTAX, which everybody loves), and the respect for the traditional values that have made our nation great. Do you honestly believe that Gov. Huckabee wanted to raised taxes on hard-working Arkansans? No, he was forced to because of the Arkansas constitution, which demands a balanced budget. He cut all the spending he could with a Democratic legislature, which is nothing to sneeze at. Again, your disrespect for people of faith is evident, in your choosing to call him 'pastor' in a sarcastic way, rather than Governor. It is ridiculous to to say that just because Huckabee had the same job as Clinton in Arkansas that he would govern the same way as Clinton when he becomes president. Where is the logic in that? Also, Gov. Huckabee's advocacy of the FairTax proves that he wants to take a lot of power AWAY from government by shutting down the oppressive IRS.

The above comment is almost unintelligible and buys into every attack that the Democratic Party in Arkansas has every thrown at Huckabee. How is he picked by corporate America? Where's the money? Huckabee has grown in popularity because of his message, not his money. To what are you referring when you say "illegitimate polls"? Do you have some knowledge about these polls that the rest of us do not? The Bible question posed to Mike was ridiculous, but the blame lies with the Youtube poster who created it and CNN who picked it. You would never see that question asked of a Democrat. I believe many Republicans have consulted with Dick Morris. He knows the electorate very well, especially Democrats, and any Republican should be doing his best to turn those dems to our side.

The media needed a story and the created him. Hopefully they will rest on the 7th day, as well.
We can not have a president who will turn a blind eye to illegal aliens. He wants to give my taxdollars to people who have no legal right to even be here, let alone have "RIGHTS" to my money and the money that should go to US citizens. He is a liberal when it comes to government, he wants to create more programs, more programs and more programs to enact his ideas...just like hillary, we dcan not afford him, either.

"He wants to give my taxdollars to people who have no legal right to even be here.." Though you didn't specify, I think you are referring to Mitt Romney's attack on Governor Huckabee's scholarship proposal in Arkansas. The only thing Huckabee supported was to give children of illegals the right to be eligible for a MERIT based scholarship. Remember, it's not the child's fault that they were dragged across the border. To receive this scholarship, they had to have excellent grades AND begin the process to become legal. Seems reasonable to me. The proposal did not pass though. Gov. Huckabee is far from Liberal. His first priority concerning illegal immigration is to secure the border.

The media certainly did not create him. He wrote his own story and forced the media to pay attention to him after true conservatives received his message and flocked to him in droves. I sense in your comment ("Hopefully they will rest on the 7th day") a snide mockery of religious people. Perhaps that is real reason behind your dislike the Governor: He's too Christian.
