I for one am sick and tired of religion being such an important factor in politics today. Who cares if he is a Baptist preacher, does that mean that God is going to swoop down and rid us of all of our problems? I think that the Christian god probably has more pressing issues than the I.R.S in the U.S. We saw religion play an all too large role in the current presidents 1st term and I would hate to see such fanaticism occure again.

Come on folks...Separation of Church and State was intended by our forefathers to keep the government from telling the citizens "which" church to go to, not get Him out of the government! (Google it and read it for yourselves...it's right there). God always has been part of our country! He made our country. It is only as of late, that we are trying to get God out of the schools, off of our money and out of government. It's no wonder then, that bad things seem to be happening to good people. It's been that way since Adam and Eve ate from the tree that God said not to. God definitely shed a tear when 9-11 happened. God's plan for the world is going precisely to His plan. You'll see. And for the whole global warming thing, God knew years ago, what the exact size the polar ice caps would be in '07 and how many holes we'd have in the ozone. Part of the problem with the world is that they don't recognize Him for who he is in the first place. Let's get back to loving our neighbor and supporting the government leaders who are in office, regardless if we voted for them or not. That's what our country is based on. We each have a voice. And if you didn't vote, then turn your opinion back to yourself, because that's as far as it will be heard! Sincerely, An American who wishes there'd be more bi-partisanship, like there used to be.

As a long-time independent observer of and voter in presidential elections, Mike Huckabee hit a homerun. I have not felt so inspired since Ronald Reagan. What a nice, thoughtful, capable man Mike Huckabee is...or appears to be. Given all that faces the next president, both domestically and internationally, he will have to be a very effective negotiator to be successful. Last night, Mike Huckabee looked like that president.

    Dear Lawyant:

This country was founded on Christianity? Was that the religion of the American Indians? P.S. "God" is everywhere. Humans do not have any control over that...except in this country we do allow for separation of church and state, if you are still unaware of that! God Huckabee is a mere mortal, not a god, certainly you cannot be thinking rationally if you would put any human on the same level as God...how is that Christian? If you want to give this country back to the one true creator...give it back to the Indians who were here before...or did God have nothing to do with that? Good grief...if you support Huckabee, that is my vote against him...anyway, he is not the one to be President of the USA....especially with a name like that!

Which indians are you talking about, the idians that were here during our migration here or the Indians that these Indians drove out? There is always a migration of all species, and the most adaptable wins.
they pray to the great spirit and we pray to a great spirit. It's ju7st that we don't knock our unwanted kids in the head and throw them over a cliff

      • Posted By: CJP123 @ 11/29/2007 2:51:45 PM

Exactly, there are always other species, not religions existing on the planet. As I say, God is omnipresent, he is there for all, not according to one religion. God does not make people kill, by pushing people over cliffs, or mass suicides, or bombings, in the name of anything, that is what is done by humans by their own free will. Christians kill too, don't they, supposedly in the name of God? Come on...how is that right? No one person or group's thinking about God is superior, the "Christians" nor the "Indians".

        • Posted By: Disciple @ 11/29/2007 3:20:56 PM

Who saying Huckabee is god? definitely not him. I think Christians like him simply because he is intelligent, has conviction and a world view that we know will benefit all people.

So this God who is omnipresent , who doesn't kill who is he? How do you know about him? Tell me where did you learn about him?

Let me give you a hint:

Rom 1:20 For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities???his eternal power and divine nature???have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.

FYI: Lawyant stated that Huck is god...not me. God is omnipresent, he is in me and you. If a person is to kill another then he hurts God, and if he does good he pleases God. The choice is yours to make as a human, so you can learn that good is a better way to live, than choosing evil. If you choose evil, you will be separated from God and be unhappy and not pleasing to God..for God wants us all to be good and happy and at peace. The true way to God is from doing good acts and by doing good acts you will instantly know God in your heart and he will be pleased as will you. Is none of that in your bible? I am sorry, but I do not understand your clue in the context you are giving it. But, I am a child of God, that is how I know God. He loves me an I love him, meaning I love you too.

            • Posted By: Disciple @ 11/29/2007 3:45:40 PM

Sorry I thought you were apart of Lawyants post. True God loves righteous acts but it is not the acts themselves that make you close to the Lord. Its sort of like how you get married. You get to know and understand him, then you commit your life to him and the change permeates from the heart which then changes the actions. This is a relationship with the Lord. It does not start with "doing good" although doing good has its benefits. Its your heart tjhe Lord wants just like a couple getting ready to get married or a already married couple. The actions mean nothing without the committed heart behind it.

I agree with you wholeheartedly, no pun intended. I did not want to write too much on this blog and wanted to make a comment to Law. regarding his/her post. But, I am glad we cleared things up, as it is often hard to truly express one's feelings accurately in a blog, email...Take care.

Mike Huckabee is head and shoulders above the other presidential candidates, Republican and Democratic alike. He is a natural born leader who is clear about his convictions. He will tell you where he stands on controversial issues without trying to take both sides so as to not alienate someone. He stands tall by articulating his positions instead of trying to pull himself up by putting others down.

Huckabee makes me want to vote again!! I dont much about him ( and yes i do plan on researching him).I would define myself as a common sense American with Christian values, and his answers and his boldness as a Christian at this time he has won my vote. Huckabee and the rest of the candadates are not going to be able to change much when "Sunday church people" keep denouncing Christ in our country's decisions on many topics. Have we forgotten!!! No not 911. The God in whom our country was founded on and whom the forfathers made their decisions with God in mind. Remeber,it is because of Christ why our country is soooo blessed keep pushing him out and we get what we have today. Christ is smarter than us, our increased sinful ways is part of his plan. Go Huckabee!!! thank you

Go back to the principles of the constitution. Why do you people think you have it all over everybody. The majority want religion out of politics.

You claim to "know that there is no 'god.' Would you, if just for a moment, provide all of us 'narrow' people with the evidence to support that claim. It would be most beneficial if you could do so.

This 2008 Presidential Race maybe the most important Presidentail election of the last 200 years. Our nations survival is depending on it. With economic outsourcing of jobs, terrorist threats at home and abroad, a national debt that could bankrupt America to it's core, and pork belly spending like we've never seen before - this election could determine America's destiny for decades to come. If America does not secure and posses a moral compass to guide her through the next one to two decades ... America will find a similar fate to that of the Roman Empire.

You atheists still don't get it! 85% of Americans believe in God! I'm proud, not comforted, to be one of them. Our time in the sun is far from over, it's only beginning.

I believe that even with Huck's "lack of military experience" he has a better chance then Guliani or Romney because they are not like Huck and his down-to-earth personailty. The public wants someone that represents themselves, not someone that represents the have's in society, which both parties have to combat. Go Huck!

    • Posted By: superme74 @ 11/29/2007 4:33:10 PM

The people want a candidate that reprsents the people not themselves... We as a country have endured 8 years with a commander in chief that thinks of only self gain. Hillary in '08 I say. At least she is for the people.

    • Posted By: superme74 @ 11/29/2007 4:28:47 PM

You are wrong... the public wants a leader who represents the people not themselves. For the last 8 years we have endured a prsesident who thinks of only self gain and where has that got any of us??? Hillary for president I say.

I don't know about the rest of you but I for one am tired of religion getting in the way of politics in this nation. Who cares if he is a Baptist preacher, what does that have to do with him being a good candidate for the presidency? We have a separation of church and state in this country for a reason. God does not get involved in the everyday affairs of human beings from what I can see so why should it matter that a believer is in the White House? Does that mean that God is going to swoop down and solve all of our problems? I live in Arkansas and I for one think Huckabee to have been a very capable governor but it had nothing to do with his religious beliefs.

    • Posted By: phenrryiam @ 11/29/2007 4:32:28 PM

I am amazed at some of these comments. "destroyed the public education system" "God does not get involved---from what I can see" "religion getting in the way of politics" Jay Leno would love to get his hands on these. Ahh!! freedom of speech, even if it means suffering those who abuse it with uneducated and off the wall opinions, its still what we fight and die for.

This man has integrity. He is a man, not GOD, therefore, errors are obviously going to happen. There is noone in the race that has foriegn policy expertise nor military expertise that will satisfy all. That is why we have advisors and Bureaucrats. He does listen and he is a man of GOD that this nation so sorely needs. He is a born leader....give him a break. Fred Johnson in New Mexico.

Mike Huckabee can???t solve all the issues that plague this country but at least he has a good plan to solve some of the fundamental problems that Americans care about. Besides, I don???t think he could screw up foreign policy and military matters any worse that the current yahoos in power.

with five legitimate contenders (counting Fred Thompson) and perhaps a sixth (Ron Paul).....boy oh boy is the media afraid of Mr. Paul. They want you to think he's illegitimate!!!

    • Posted By: eddybear73070 @ 11/29/2007 4:30:49 PM

No Fred Thompson is not a contender..are you nuts? He is way wishy washy..he voted on one count to impeach clinton and then turned around an voted no to not impeach, so what does he really think? Why two different votes..and that is just on one instance..it was not what his constituents wanted..they wanted clinton outta there baby..and he didn't listen..why would we entrust an entire country on him...wow you are not on top of your facts..

So, if Huckleberry is elected, will I eventually face a possible 40 lashes, prison and fine if I name a Teddy bear Jesus?

As a conservitive i must support the person who can beat billary.Guliani, Romney or maybe Thompson. If you think your taxes are high now just let billary back in the white house.Yes i said BILLARY because we really know who will be running things if that nightmare was to happen.

Remember Buck O when Clinton was pres we had a surplus in the treasury, longest prosperity run in history. we where not at war. Other countires liked and repected us. Now where the bad guy even to our allies. Why are you republican'ts so hung up on BC. Has has not been in office for how many years.

I strongly recommend everyone read Rolling Stone's 40th anniversary issue (out now). Even though it is strongly anti-Bush, it is FASCINATING to read the opinions and forecasts of the prominent people interviewed in this issue. A few of them specifically address the separation of church and state. If you are strongly pro-Bush, read the issue anyway. It's very eye-opening. Also, Betty, all caps is considered YELLING on the 'net. Thanks!

For one thing BRECHEISEN, if you ever studied history you would learn that even George Washington himself was quoted as saying "It is impossible to rightly govern a nation without God and the Bible" So I really think you should do some checking on history and see that the great leaders of our history never swayed from what they believed and I would rather vote for someone that speaks their mind, sticks to their guns and doesn't become wishy washy like some of the other candidates. No, it doesn't mean God is going to swoop down and solve our problems but faith and belief in the bible has never lead me astray and if you paid a little attention to that message you wouldn't be so ready to throw stones!
