It was very touching to see the little children in their everyday lives. The photograghs were moving and the situation heartbreaking. I agree that ongoing stories would really wake up some people to help as long as they can be educated. They really need to see what is going on. Thank you for the story and the pictures. It's good to know theses children have a voice.

I am moved by Justin Mott's piece on the Hanoi Orphanage and am interested in donating money. I would like to get others to donate as well and believe that knowing where the money would be going would encourage that. I would love to see Justin team with Newsweek on an on-going basis to educate Americans on the situation with these kids. I believe that I as well as others, would like to see how the money would be spent to make sure it does not go to administrative waste or government officials. Would Newsweek be willing to do a piece to educate us on how the money would be spent?

I don't think it's so much the accountability of a war fought decades ago then the accountability of helping to heal the generations that need it. After doing more research on HSVC and their programs, I found them to be one of the only organizations I trust to take the money we send and care for their little ones as thoroughly as possible. I believe you must specify which program you would like to contribute to for instance, the Ba Vi orphans, or else no preference. If you haven't already, you should check out the site www.hsvc.org and research for yourselves.

If you want to help the children and the people who care for them every month you could donate as little as 5 dollars via a paypal account. E-mail chuckdevet@hscv.org for the e-mail associated with their paypal account and help, I'm sure significantly. It's all I can do but seeing the cold little hungry humans and their caregivers tells me to do anything I can.

I found the photos and sound very moving. I want to understand more about the actual situation and the link to Agent Orange. Clearly the children need our support, but the story implied that the US was responsible without really giving me the detail as to how and who to hold accountable.

The story is very moving. The continuous background noises and crying throughout transcends the viewer to the true experience and conditions of the orphanage that the photographer is trying to tell. The story is difficult to watch and hearing the actual crying and background noises just makes the piece even more real. Narration and dialogue would only compromise the reality of what is really going on.

The photos were well done but it needed more dialogue or narration instead of background noises of babies crying. This should of been a photo story and not a multimedia story to be effective.

I agree that the photos are effective but there needs to be more dialogue or narration instead of background noises of children crying..

I think that this was done very well and I'm really glad the story of these children and their lives were able to be told. Yes, it is unsettling. But it's very real and just because it was "extremely difficult to watch," there still shouldn't have been any reason to candy coat the situation as that would've been an insult. I feel that images can be more powerful than text and actually liked the fact that you could just take in the photographs for yourself...the text provided was just enough information for me to understand the rest. I think the photographer and reporter did a great job of giving these people a voice and also giving others the opportunity to help.

very disturbing and unsettling, might have benefiteed from more text and context

I found this to be extraordinarily disturbing and upsetting. Would have appreciated more context and comments from the adults involved. It was extremely difficult to watch and even worse to imagine. The photographs were very effective, but the entire presentation might have been strengthened with more text.
