No Man's Land

Where the imperialists' Great Game once unfolded, tribal allegiances have made for a "soft border" between Afghanistan and Pakistan--and a safe haven for smugglers, militants and terrorists.

I agree and support mehmood shah, we were once united under afghan rule but after british division the are-a culturally also divided, over years we puktoons living in pakistan have evolved different va-lues and culture, sorry to disappoint you but I wu-d not like to be called afghan or identified with them (although I am a proud pukhtoon of tribal areas in pakistan. I have my own identity and love to call myself cultured progressive puktoon victim of international politics and living in terror due to afghans talibans.

Mr mahmoodshah don't try to twist the facts. Be a man and call a spade a spade. Durand line is an imaginary line and was never and will never be accepted by pakhtoons on either side of Durand line.
British divided us and we have suffered for a long time but now inshallah very soon we will be united again and will get rid of Pakistani army who are killing our men and women, elderly and children in the name of war against terrorism. They can fool the world and take west for a ride in the name of terror but not us and the truth is that Pakistan itself is a terrorist state. We pakhtoons will struggle for our freedom from Pakistani occupation and inshahllah we will get it.

I think the article in your esteemed paper certian basic in accuracies: the first being the impression that the International Border between Pakistan and Afghanistan is a disputed border. This is grossly incorrect because Afghanistan has never raised this issue at any International Forum and can not do so under International Law.The second inaccuracy pertains to the Pukhtun population in Afghanistan.Although there never have been any accurate cencus in Afghanistan but it is well known that the Pukhtun population is wellover 64%.And by the way may I add that the Pukhtuns living in Pakistan including the Tribal Area would like to called Pukhtuns than Afghans because Afghan is a geographical term used for all those who live in Afghanistan including Persian/Dari speaking people.Regards mahmoodshah Peshawar Pakistan.

The article in your esteemed paper contains certian inaccuracies: the first the assertion that the International Border between Pakistan and Afghanistan is disputed is incorrect in the sense that Afghanistan has never raised this issue at any International Forum and cannot do so under International Law.The second inaccuracy pertains to Pukhtun population in Afghanistan.Although there have never been any accurate census in Afghanistan but it is a well known fact that the Pukhtun population is more than 64% of the total Afghan Population.By the way I would also like to add that Pukhtuns living in Pakistan do not like to be called Afghans even in Tribal Area because Afghan is a geographical term used for all those who live in Afghanistan and include all Persian/Dari speaking people where as Pukhtun is an ethnic term and Pukhtuns living in Pakistan including those living in Tribal Area would like to be called Pukhtuns With regards. Durand line is not controversial. It is outright rejected by all Afghan governments since 1940s because it was an unofficial temporary line that left tribes of Pashtoon divided. There is so much land until south to the sea that belonged to Afghanistan that was given to British India. It is never an international border and never will be. Durand line is an imaginary superficial line. All those lands and their lease have long expired and now it is time to re-unite them back.

Shiasta, just cos u write a long a** diatribe doesn't mean u are logical or correct.
Musharaf long before 9/11 started curbing terrorist activties.
Remember Lashkara Mohamed, they were banned in 1999
This is a TERRORIST ORG that COWARD SHARIF WOULD NOT WIELD IN , FOR THE LOVE/FEAR OF MULLAHS..
your assessment that Musharaf cultivate terrorist activities in Wazirstan is incorrect.
Wazirstan has been lawless for 250 yrs, but Benazir and Sharif are the real cultivators of this.
So again, who exactly do you support Benazir or Sharif.
Your eloquent- lessness on this questionis deafening.

I would like to draw the attentions of the International community toward the reality that the Afghanistan crisis will never comes to an end.
If the American assistance to Pakistan is continue with condition for fighting against terrorism or extremist then the US to assume that this will ever last
The terrorist group it self nothing if not supported by out siders
How a group of terrorist fight for a long period and how they afford the expenses of fighting and how they get
Can a single person afford their own expences with out any assistance
Any one can let me that how these terrorist groups are fighting for so long time
The Musharaf know the nature of the public of that particular areas' people and the main purpose of operations were not to eliminate terrorism but to expand
Through like brutal actions the forces to kill the civilian and the public perceptions raised against the forces and to support the terrorist
This is technique that Musharaf trieng to exercise and compelled the public to support the extremist
If Musharaf interested to eliminate terrorism then they can easily perform this task by arresting and targetting the responsible
But why the Musharaf to do this as throug this way the terrorism will eliminate and he not like to do so
Second this is to divert the thinking of the US from Waziristan toward this new assignment and to make that waziristan declared terrorist able to reorganize them self for upcoming required actions
The out come or result of these operations are equal to nothing but to expand the terrorism
Only those terrorist were arrested and showed who were now not part of the terrorist activities or tired of this endless activities or excuse for to be part of the terrorist groups
Any one can ask Musharaf that how many targetted terrorist were arreted or killed
These operations are just drama that Musharaf want to make the world fool and get support of the international community and todate for last Eight Years and above he succseded for getting support
But if he realized that the support of international community is no more then possibility to hand over nuke to the terrorist group as he is not reliable one
He is selfish person and for this selfishness he broken many promises and oaths
He is ready to split pakistan for the sake of his power how the world expect that he will do better for the rest of the world
If a man is not sincere with his own nations and dashed to ground the respectable institutions of the country how the world expect some thing good from him
He hijacked the Pakistan where he rule and dashed to grounds its' institutions how he do better for the rest of the world
The US need to realize his intentions and make the world safe as well Pakistan by drawing their support of the said quility man
If US does not make any actions against him timely, then the US it self responsible for expected desasters to the world in his rule
