This kind of scam media articles were a dime a dozen coming out of Vietnam. The general's claimed to see light at the end of the tunnel and the US terrorist media hurreied to report freedom, democracy and light ahead. What is and was ahead in both Vietnam and Iraq is more death, more destruction and more money. It is only when the US is out and the real govt of Iraq settles in place just like the Vietnamese govt we will again have diplomatic relations as we do with Vietnam.

Was it worth killing 50K and Injuring 500K along with 2 million innocent Vietnamese dead and more injured?

Or in the classic words of Pres Clinton

    "IT'S THE OCCUPATION STUPID"

I think that Iraq needs frequently scheduled elections, because this article clearly points to a lot of grievances, but a lot of changing ones. The councils and legislatures should reflect the current "times". It's one of the best ways to relieve the anger and make people feel represented. I would suggest an election every year for ten years. For instance, the "Islamic Party" mentioned in the article might be losing support. Also, authorities should not be afraid of allowing marginal parties to run, even if they seem extremist.

I'll lay off the sarcasm this time and come out with it. This vague and rapidly disintegrating idea called America lacks the unity, will, and men to take on a culture such as this one. The most talented and capable men of this country are not fighting and will not fight. The multiculturist movement has destroyed any hope of unity of the American people or loyalty to the nation, and the feminist movement with it's successful and catastrophic attack on the nuclear family has succeeded in deweaponizing American (and most western) men. In effect, through encouragement of nihilistic dissent and defiance, ivory tower leftists of the 1960's disarmed our nation. All we can do now is promise high-tech, at-a- distance war to whoever we can lure into our miliatary with promises of cash bonuses and steady pay. And even that leads to a shortfall that must be filled in with mercenaries and noncitizens. The gig is up. We are 5th century AD Rome. We are too demoralized and divided to defeat any culture that was wise enough to steer and channel it's citizens' energy in a state mandated direction. The smartest and most capable American men only want to become wealthy, and would never charge headlong into the fray to fight and die for the idea of American freedom. They have, after all, been "freed" from these responsibilities.

As long as any of our veterans say they don't us to give up on the Iraqi people, I will continue to support this conflict. However, if measurable work is not performed to improve services for the people and promote political concession is not done; then my support will corrode quickly.

As long as our soldiers say they don't want to abandon the Iraqi people just yet I will support this conflict. But if we don't do more to bolster services for the people and promote political concessions between factions then support for this "war" will corrode very quickly.

Theres always something seething right under the surface. You know we hd lost this war as soon as we started arming our enemies there. By us doing that we have alarmed the Shia run government. It seems for every step forward its two back. Where in the hell is the Madhi militia, we haven't done anything to resolve that? Who are all these street thugs and gansters in so Iraq and in Basra Nobodies done anything about that. Little boy Bush is like the Dutch kid and the leaky dike. As soon as he stops one leak another one sprouts. This mess isn't remotly close to seeing light at the end of the tunnel. Its so complicated that these stooges in the WH cannot even grasp it. We are screw.

Many statement relating to Iraq is way off the mark. As a veteran who served in Iraq, many of the so called experts have said some of the most damaging things. Like in 2004, these experts, along with some politicians are going to reverse the recent gains aquired in Iraq. Unfortunately a defeat in Iraq is a guaratied defeat in Afganistan, a defeat that will be blamed upon President Bush. But the blame will be on those who acted out of spite, and political gain. So for political gain, and spite Iraqis and Afganis will die, and Al Qaeda will achieve there victory, and attack our country again in the future.

Too much contention there, democracy can not flourish in a country and culture so divided. I country that does not fight for its identity has none. One of two things needs to happen there, either everyone needs to wake up at the same time and realize that they are iraqi no matter their creed, or we need to pull back and let them fight it out. If it were not for the oil we would do that. As a matter of fact all western powers should pull out of the region and let them all settle it for themselve. Of course the whol region would descend into anarchy for a time until the the borders are redrawn and new countries namede Africa and The Middle East have the same problem. There were each colonized by western powers who in their all knowing knowledge decided to divide that region according to who got where first. It will never happen becaue it would not be "humane" to allow people to slaughter one another. Who knows what to do, however we proceed it will not be pretty.

A stable Iraq is a long way off. The journey of Iraq to see itself as a nation will take years if not decades. Democratic process is a slow process look at Europe in France it took over two hundred yeas. Spain it took the defeat of facsism. These were nation with a since of national identity. Iraq first must go through the process of recondnizing itself, not as tribes or regions or religious group but as itself. England took hundered of year to move from Kings to parlements rule of its' nation.

for I think Muslim world realize this fact that they are divided in beginning of Islam and then process of time they now not faith on each other and in colonial period both used by the masters and now USA using both of them for there on means. They can not unite because there is no dynamic, charismatic personality on which they believe.
So, I think all Muslim world living in past. They can change there behavior when there literacy rate will high and they start democratic process.
Show me where is true democracy in Islamic countries, where the so called Governments spend amount on education, research, health the common man.

Unlike the Kurds and Shiites, the Sunnis have been the extremely recalcitrant in expressing gratitude for our intervention. But in time, they too will come accept the comforting warmth and rightness of the west and zionism. Yes, like the their Shiite and Kurd counteymen, they will come to realize that as a people they are too unfit and their culture too backward to resist our stewardship of these lands and their vital strategic resources. From the basis of this article though, it is apparent that they at least have enough of an inkling of our importance to keep their guns trained on each other.
