Why do people have such a difficult time believing a Republican could think for themselves and chose to support Barack Obama (Iowa here). If Obama does not get the nomination for president, I wll re~evaluate my choices. I AM SO VOTING FOR OBAMA. Mine is not a VOTE AGAINST ANOTHER CANDIDATE.. Want my demographics to fit into your polling system? On Jan 3 I caucused for Obama. 44 yr old white female (registered Republican 25 yrs) Licensed REALTOR, married, college, household income100K, That's for Frank Luntz. I totally love that guy!!!! I told him Dec 25 I am voting for the person who can get SOMETHING done!

About Hillary: If you are considering her anyway, but are torn between her and someone else, vote for her BECAUSE she is a woman. Ladies it is OUR time, if we miss this chance, it may take a decade or two before we have another serious woman contender who can be elected President. It will forever boost the belief in ALL young girls and women to think: Yes I REALLY can be President too!

Sure. That's certainly more important than a few dead Iranians... But I agree that it's either her or Obama. But I feel that she has to speak out more strongly about the most grave tragedies that are occuring today. In sub-Saharan Africa, but to a lesser extent in other developing countries. I don't understand why white Americans get so exited about weapons. It must be sexual, it certainly doesn't have a cerebral reason.

Regarding the Edwards campaign, and why it's spiraling downward like a ride at Six Flags: it's the STAFFERS, stupid. They are young, inexperienced, and indecisive. They are trying to corral the young vote, but Barack is seeing to it it doesn't happen. Barack understands that those 17 right now can caucus as long as they turn 18 by November. His audiences are full of youngsters 17-21. His own youth is so appealing.

The Edwards staffers and foot soldiers are actually abandoning their posts and crossing over to Barack. Why? Because they're young. Not very many graybeards in the Edwards staff, therefore, very little wisdom.

The Edwards staff has tried unsuccessfully to line up coffee cluthes and houseparties- they're falling flat. The older women adore Hillary up there- where are the men in her campaign? Back on the farm. They'll watch and see what happens. So firsthand, here's how it will shake out up here:

    1. Obama- Oprah, youth, young AND middle age women.

    2. Hillary- there's a lot of widows up here.

    3. Edwards- they're sick of him after 3 years.

I am of Chinese ancestry, but I am an American through and through. Women posters here say vote Hillary because we need a woman president. Black posters say vote Obama because we need a black president. You people make me sick. My cats say vote Garfield because we need a fat cat as president. Oh, I forgot that we have one already.

I am actually neither black nor American.

Most of the problems of the world today affecting blacks, a black American president is in my opinion what the world needs.

If we base the election too much on personality, there is the risk that this will turn into a mud-slinging campaign. While the perceived coldness in Hillary Clinton's personality does ward me off, I am more attracted to Barack's stance of a truly united US. His unique stance on bridging differences - with Republicans, that is - would mark a new beginning in American policy every where. It makes me hopeful for a future without armed action.

It could really come down to personality. While the attacks on each other canidate may do no good, it has the potential to undermine the personality each one is potraying.

In any case, I would suggest that Obama and Clinton is a well functioning machine that is capable to destroying the Republican force.

Lets see what happens, an interesting race

Comment: I think Hillary made some good points. Most notably, when she mentioned that herself(Hillary Clinton), Bill Richardson, Dodd and Biden have been making decisions that affect this country for a long time. She's good at it. Another tremendous point she made is that you cannot learn to be President through a book, you need experience in the "trenches".It's like becoming a General without ever serving in the army. We need to give Richardson some credit, he is very intelligent and is a solutions oriented person, he is able to bring factions together and provide solutions. He has proven that in New Mexico and he was a star member in the Clinton administration. I also like his persona, he's cool, gentlemen like. He would make a great Vice President. Another facinating point that was mentioned was bloodlines. Bloodlines are very important in American Society. It detemines which fraternity you belong too. This is why the rise of Bill Clinton was so impressive, he did not come from the "traditional fraternity". Look at Kerry, Gore, Bush, Kennedy these are all people who come from powerful fraternities. Clinton was able to play his way in; Amazing I do not think that has ever been done. Unfrotunately, the heirarchy of fraternities is a secret world and therefore is subject to a lot of conspiracy theories some have merit some do not. We will never know because the information that way we have access too is limited. A big reason Bush became President was he was able to "milk" these fraternities for unprecendented amounts of money. If you do not come from a fraternity it is difficult to compete; you end up being like Guilliani and end up "selling" your soul for money. What choice do you have. No money, no penetration, no access to the Presidency.

Considering the article's following arguments made in the first paragraph: " the too long and too-petty race for the White House , is that it's all about personalities, not enought about issues" and "if the contest for the Democratic nomination were really a contest of who has the best ideas for the country" then, John Edwards, would easily be handed not only the nomination but the presidency itself. Instead, every four years, voters choose personality over issues, thus resulting in the election and reelection of an idiot people would like to "have a beer with."

Everything is a joke or funny punchline to Huckabee. He has not said one straightforward meaningful thing yet. In all his debates, he has not answered a single question. He has just laughed off the question. While I appreciate a sense of humor, I want a straight, serious answer out of Huckabee concerning what he will do about terrorism, immigration policy, education or gas prices. This funny guy act is amusing, but wearing thin.
