Gretel, I hope your career as a fake journalist is completely ruined by the lies you've written in this article. In case you didn't know, President Kennedy declared that journalism is the only profession protected by the Constitution (Amendment 1). That is how important truthful journalism is. You are a disgrace and a shill. You're phony and this article is reprehensible. Retract your lies, save some face, and retire from journalism.

So, the road is being built afterall. But if you call it a superhighway, then its a conspiracy. I got it now.

Either way, I guess we need this big 'road' to move goods made by Mexicans with U.S. raw materials, back to the U.S. to be purchased by U.S. consumers. Or is that a conspiracy too. NAFTA = Lets outsource U.S. jobs to Mexico and minimize any duty or tax consequences to U.S. companies wanting to bring those goods back to the states.

Ok, so now Newsweek can take the fact that it has umpteen thousand people reading their garbage, (because we all just registered to comment) and use it as a selling point when looking for potential advertisers.

I wish I had a subscription 'cuz I would cancel it immediately. Whatever happened to objective journalism?

America is headed down the tubes. The time of God's judgement the 7 year tribulation the time of Jacob's trouble has almost arrived. The Christian Rapture will put the whole country in shock. Martial law will be declared. The economic disaster that will follow will follow will be worse than the stock market collapse back in the earlly 1900's. They are trying to pull the wool over the whole country's eyes. This highway will also serve some very sinister purposes. Keep your Bible handy for the coming days for you will need it and it will soon be outlawed. The things that people said were impossible in Revelation before are now very easy to do. China is coming up as the next superpower on the block. The Middle East is becoming a hot spot with Isaiah 17 and Ezekial 38 and 39 looming on the horizon. Many I'm sure will laugh at what I say for now, but you won't be laughing for long!

LIke I said above....it it wasn't for the bloggers we wouldn't get any real news. Isn't Newsweek the magazine that didn't print the Lewinski story, thereby giving Drudge his big break? Bloggers brought Dan Rather down....I could go on, but when is the last time the media actually uncovered a story? All they do is read press releases and interview politicians who write books.

"this big 'road' to move goods made by Mexicans with U.S. raw materials," It's more than that they want to ship goods from China/ the far east to avoid American ports/fees and American labor cost too.
Newsweek needs to tell the truth and stop pandering to the coalition of retailers/ other anti American groups. .

This article is obviously a cheap hit piece, not only on Ron Paul, but on average Americans who, unlike this reporter and Newsweek, have actually done extensive research on the very real plan to integrate the U.S., Mexico and Canada into a cozy ???North American Community??? very much like the European Union (EU).

As Newsweek has essentially unlimited investigative resources at their disposal, the only logical conclusion one can reach is that this article, which lacks the kind of supporting information that is so easily obtained, is intended to be disinformation. Shame on you Newsweek! Glad that I too have dropped my subscription.

Had Ms. Kovach actually done her homework, she might have been able to inform readers that in addition to U.S. House Concurrent Resolution 40, now with 43 Congressional cosponsors, 20 state legislatures are sufficiently concerned about the impending ???NAFTA/NASCO Superhighway??? and a potential ???North American Union??? that they have crafted and/or passed resolutions denouncing these creations, urging the U.S. not to enter into such arrangements. I guess thousands of state legislators have also given themselves over to this conspiracy theory.

Had she taken the time to investigate, she might also have discovered the extensive Freedom of Information Act documents and the plethora of policy papers by many influential think tanks (including the Council on Foreign Relations, which her boss, Mr. Zaccaria, holds membership in, by the way) and academic institutions and testimony given directly to Congress pushing "integration" of the three countries of North America into a single entity with a common external security perimeter, a common external tariff, the free flow of people between countries, and its own parliament and court system which would supersede those of individual countries, similar to the EU.

With even a casual perusal of the NASCO or ???CorridorWatch??? web sites, she could have examined for herself the extensive maps and plans for the super-highway system which will run from Mexico all the way to Alaska, and with additional arteries criss-crossing the U.S.

The evidence for a developing continental Super Corridor and an EU-like configuration for North America is abundant and in plain view should any person, much less a reporter or so-called "news magazine, WANT to investigate.

This reporter and Newsweek have sacrificed all credibility by deliberately ignoring the truth, and worse, attempting to discredit someone who dares to speak it.

This author has not even slightly proven Paul to be wrong. And Paul distinctly said there is no "conspiracy" -as in something secret or hidden - it's just a clash of ideologies - with all of these things easily discovered if one does their own searching. The road is real and the Amero is real. It's just that no one is advertising this stuff to the masses. Gee - I wonder why?

    • Posted By: tempnewsweeker @ 12/08/2007 10:47:45 AM

Thank you. I have not heard anything about this, but the facts in the article seemed to lend credibility to the fact that "something" was being planned, yet the author concluded otherwise. I am glad to know I am not the only American who can still add 2 + 2 and get 4. If it were not for bloggers, we would not get any real news.

  • Posted By: tempnewsweeker @ 12/08/2007 10:43:30 AM

I am very confused. I read the article, and it seems that ut is true. 3 countries are converging trade and security policies, and the government is confiscating private land to turn it over to international corporate interests. Yet your article concludes it is a myth. HUH?

Gretel, Ron Paul does not want Americans to be scared. That is best left up to the Bush administration. What Congressman Paul does want is for Americans to be informed. Gretel, you don't deserve to call yourself a journalist. You have lowered your profession another notch with weak reporting based on weak research. That is of course if you did any research or were you just told what to write by your corporate sell-out bosses. Also, consider my subscription cancelled. For you to flat out lie about the only person in Congress that seems to care about the welfare of the entire country, not just special interests or demographics, is really low.

ONE BIG QUESTION, WHO WOULD BUILD AN INFRASTRUCTURE OF THIS SCALE ONLY TO HAVE IT END AT THE TEXAS BORDER WITH EITHER NM, AK, LA, OR OK? THE FIRST RULE IN THESE MATTERS IS FOLLOW THE MONEY. WHO BENIFITS, AND WHO HAS THE POWER TO GET A PIECE OF SPIN LIKE THIS IN A NATIONAL PUBLICATION?

  • Posted By: David in Lexington @ 12/08/2007 10:35:46 AM

One of the unheralded and most far reaching effects of the Ron Paul candidacy is the number of people that are realizing that all of the traditional players in the news business are hopelessly corrupted. Whether Paul wins or loses millions of Americans will never trust Big Media again, and as those number continue to grow exponentially we will all see your readerships continue to collapse. Enjoy the ride.

  • Posted By: PHILM82 @ 12/08/2007 10:23:09 AM

One BIG QUESTION? If it is not true, who, or why would anyone build an infrastructure of that size and have it end at the Texas border with either Oklahoma, Arkansas. Louisiana, or, New Mexico? This sounds like General Motors is running the show. I say apply rule number one.....FOLLOW THE MONEY. WHY IS THIS HAPPENING, WHO BENIFITS, AND WHO HAS THE POWER/RESOURCES TO COVER IT UP, OR IN THIS CASE START THE SPIN CYCLE?

I plan on very reading another Newsweek magazine unless Gretel does a follow up peice and tells the truth.

Thanks to all the Ron Paul people for being Real Americans. Ron Paul has a chance to take back our government for us. He may not win the republican nomination, if not, he should run as an independant, since his support is from all parties and is growing everyday.

  • Posted By: Matthewlb @ 12/08/2007 9:20:37 AM

Ron Paul is gaining lots of support from all over America, not the mention the rest of the world who are starting to find out about him.

We the People have been lied to long enough. We are waking up and anyone who really looks into things, knows that we are in serious trouble right now. Nafta didn't do what they said it would. Cafta won't either.

Wonder if Gretel ever heard of the EU? The American constitution does not support an AU (American Union) so unless we the people vote to change our constitution, then we must educate ourselves about what some people have planned for us.

Go Ron Paul and all of you who support him. Thanks for being True Americans.

Apparently, Newsweek did not want to confuse its readers with the facts, as the evidence for the NAFTA/NASCO and CanaMex Superhighways is abundant and easily retrievable via the computer keyboard.
I'd say Americans are much more well-informed than you imagined. The cat is out of the bag, the train has left the station, the horse has broken out of the gate. Newsweek, there's nothing you can do about it. Deliberate disinformation is only helping to spread the word of the globalist agenda which includes the destruction of the United States under our Constitution.

American friends, please take a close look at this agenda from the North American Forum held in Banff, Canada in Sept 2006 put on by the governments of the US, Mexico and Canada. This will tell you most of what you need to know about the plan for North America, and how the elites are trying to sell this to us.

    http://sosusa.us/pdfs/NorthAmericanForum_Schultz_06_POLADBoltonNotesBanff.pdf

I for one am not interested in being considered HUMAN CAPITAL, and will never think of myself as a NORTH AMERICAN.

It???s really sad to see a long established American publication, like Newsweek ,selling out by spinning propaganda for the likes of the C.F.R., multinational corporations and international bankers. This isn???t journalism! It???s a calculated hit piece against Ron Paul and the anti-N.A.U. movement. FYI, anyone who has even a passing knowledge of how that growing tyranny, the European Union, was set up can see that the U.S. Mexico and Canada are now being merged by stealth, and in the same way that the E.U. was formed. Either Gretel C. Kovach just forgot to do her research before writing this piece of disinformation, or else she???s actually a New World Order fascist with no journalistic credibility and no loyalty to her own country.

I'm posting this message for somebody that emailed and asked me to post it for them. They tried for 2 hours to post it but kept getting error messages.

Jerome Corsi is a top investigative reporter for World Net Daily. He backs up his stories with facts. Ron Paul is a Presidential candidate with integrity. He speaks the truth and is America's last hope. Gretel C. Kovach I am unfamiliar with, but a quick google search pulled up this link, which is her 9/9/07 article in The New York Times about opening the entire United States to Mexican truckers. Sounds like she's in favor of it.

    http://www.nytimes.com/2007/09/09/us/09truck.html

Plain to see now, isn't it? Gretel obviously knows Ron Paul and Jerome Corsi speak the truth. She's just on the other side of the fence folks. Gretel C. Kovach is a defender of Mexico. She's a globalist. Jerome Corsi and Dr. Paul are defenders of America. They are patriots.

I personally hope all Ron Paul supporters cancel their Newsweek subscriptions if Gretel C. Kovach does not issue an apology.
