It is pitiful to witness the state of journalism in the United States at such a critical time in our history. The major media companies must have very limited budgets for skilled journalists who actually research their work or journalists are pressured into heavily slanting their work based on corporate or government agendas. Mainstream media fell almost completely in lockstep with the Bush administrations??? propaganda prior to the invasion of Iraq and this article is another example of a lazy journalist either ignoring easily accessible facts or being pressured into writing an article that is more fiction than fact. I'm going with lazy.

I agree with the rest of the Americans below. This is a ridiculously biased and incorrect article, and has just turned me off to ever looking at Newsweek again. Any money I'd have spent on a Newsweek subscription will be sent to Ron Paul's campaign instead!
Everyone join me December 16th and donate the price of a Newsweek subscription to Ron Paul! Never underestimate the power of the people!

Apparently the allotted integrity for Gretel C. Kovach, went directly to Dr. Ron Paul instead.

Apparently the allotted integrity that was supposed to go to Gretel C. Kovach went directly to Dr. Ron Paul instead.

This is the kind of irresponsible journalism that I would expect from Fox News, not from Newsweek. Maybe you should call yourselves "Newsweak"?

There must be a 1000+ comments here, and not ONE positive review. All of you have renewed my faith in our US citizens! Kovach, at first I gave you the benefit of the doubt and thought you ignorant. But the facts are plain and obvious, which leaves you to be an agent for a hidden agenda. Accuse Dr. Paul of conspiracy theory, when in reality you are the shill for a hidden organization with a nefarious agenda. ...This is all so Orwellian. Yes, the MSM controls the information, but that has changed with the Internet. You can forget "Who controls the past controls the future. Who controls the present controls the past." Americans are waking up, and you shills for the New World Order are put on notice, this is a rEVOLution! To the rest of you loyal Americans, I love you! Remember, if we don't stop this machine NOW, dead in it's tracks, our future is one of Fascism. "If you want a picture of the future, imagine a boot stamping on a human face ???for ever." TeaParty07[dot]com .....rEVOLution!

You should be fired for either being totally ignorant and disinforming the American people, or for knowingly pursuing the military-industrial complex globalization agenda. You call yourself a journalist? Do you have a conscience?

The only conspiracy here is the conspiracy of the the mainstream media to suppress legitimate debate about real issues. Ron Paul is the only honest politician in the race so of course you find it necessary to ridicule him. You have reduced your report to the level of the "Weekly World News" I am almost expecting your next story to be Ron Paul is having a summit with the Martians.

Newsweek what the heck are you doing? Im starting to buy this whole 'conspiracy' theory with the main stream media and Ron Paul, what is your problem? Your jobs as journalists is to give us, the customers, objective information it is not your job to try and pick and choose candidates as its becoming more and more clear that you guys are trying to do so.. and that brings me to the question as to what is the mainstream media's motive for acting like this?

I had no previous exposure to this story, but Gretel's fabrication is a sham. The story above outright misrepresents quotes from multiple sources. The highway is real, and it's no secret or conspiracy. For a response that provides actual information, read my response at www (dot) gekpad (dot) wordpress (dot) com.

If there were ever an effort to throw your credentials and legitimacy of this magazine in the trash, this piece was it. So for that I congratulate you! Your doing bang up job killing your own magazine, keep it up! I'm going to give Ron Paul more money in the meantime...

Why don't you have a look at the Canadian government's website. Or look up the law that passed in Texas, making the highway legal. It's postponed until 2009 because we got upset about it, but it's still in motion. You wouldn't do that though would you? No need to be a responsible journalist. I could hear you guys laughing when I wrote journalist, we all know you just sell products. And sadly Ron Paul isn't one of those products. Go *** yourselves.

Kovach should not be allowed to write for you.
    This is irresponsible journalism.

  • Posted By: brelena @ 12/07/2007 10:12:17 PM

    Shame on you!!!!
Ron Paul has more integrity in his small fingernail than you have in your collective selves!!!!
