I must be a conspiracy theorist too, then! I don't think Oswald did it all by himself. I don't think Monica just accidentally saved that navy blue dress for memories of the good old days on the carpet in the Oval Office. When you read that Kansas City will be the first main inland port where all containers can be searched for little inconsequential things like dirty bombs, the NAFTA Superhighway becomes VERY real. How did you get this job? Maybe you've been "on the carpet" in the Newsweek Office?

More Newsweek falsespeak and fearmongering employing deliberate decepticonian tactics to smear the only truly honest candidate in the 2008 election, Ron Paul. One need only read J. Corsi's in depth investigative article on the NAFTA Superhighway at WorldNetDaily.com to conclude, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that Newsweek is either shallow in its journalism or just flat out prejudicial. If a picture is worth a thousand words http://www.infratrans.gov.ab.ca/2760.htm then Newsweek owes its readers and Ron Paul a retraction and apologies for even momentarily misrepresenting the facts on this subject.

Not only do you insult millions of Americans who have done research on this, particularly the ones in Texas who will have their homes and farms stolen by eminent domain, but you aim the entire force of your yellow journalism hit piece at Ron Paul. Unlike you, I actually watched the Values Voter Debate a couple of months ago, that Romney, Giuliani, McCain and Thompson skipped, but Paul, Huckabee, Hunter, Tancredo and Keyes did attend. Every one of them took multiple questions on the NAU and NAFTA Super Highway then and all took it seriously. The so-called frontrunners from yestermonth may have gotten a "bye" from snubbing the Family Values crowd, but me-thinks the media's new darling Huckabee has some 'splainin to do.

The North American Union is plenty real enough. 18 states have introduced legislation to oppose it. CNBC carried a news program where this was discussed by an economics expert. Before you attempt to write an article on a topic you need to do your research, unless this article is just a thinly veiled attempt to attack those that oppose this global agenda, or a dishonest way of attacking Ron Paul, or both. People are a lot more informed than you think. Passing lies to trash good people will only come back on you.

Gretel Kovach - you must be a hit man for the ilk trying to pull this off.

The facts were right in front of you. Either Getel Kovach an idiot or she is helping the enemy spread disinformation. She surely is not a reporter of the truth. Gretel = YOU'RE FIRED.

This article is obviously a cheap hit piece, not only on Ron Paul, but on average Americans who, unlike this reporter and Newsweek, have actually done extensive research on the very real plan to integrate the U.S., Mexico and Canada into a cozy ???North American Community??? very much like the European Union (EU).

As Newsweek has essentially unlimited investigative resources at their disposal, the only logical conclusion one can reach is that this article, which lacks the kind of supporting information that is so easily obtained, is intended to be disinformation. Shame on you Newsweek! Glad that I too have dropped my subscription.

Had Ms. Kovach actually done her homework, she might have been able to inform readers that in addition to U.S. House Concurrent Resolution 40, now with 43 Congressional cosponsors, 20 state legislatures are sufficiently concerned about the impending ???NAFTA/NASCO Superhighway??? and a potential ???North American Union??? that they have crafted and/or passed resolutions denouncing these creations, urging the U.S. not to enter into such arrangements. I guess thousands of state legislators have also given themselves over to this conspiracy theory.

Had she taken the time to investigate, she might also have discovered the extensive Freedom of Information Act documents and the plethora of policy papers by many influential think tanks (including the Council on Foreign Relations, which her boss, Mr. Zaccaria, holds membership in, by the way) and academic institutions and testimony given directly to Congress pushing "integration" of the three countries of North America into a single entity with a common external security perimeter, a common external tariff, the free flow of people between countries, and its own parliament and court system which would supersede those of individual countries, similar to the EU.

With even a casual perusal of the NASCO or ???CorridorWatch??? web sites, she could have examined for herself the extensive maps and plans for the super-highway system which will run from Mexico all the way to Alaska, and with additional arteries criss-crossing the U.S.

The evidence for a developing continental Super Corridor and an EU-like configuration for North America is abundant and in plain view should any person, much less a reporter or so-called "news magazine, WANT to investigate.

This reporter and Newsweek have sacrificed all credibility by deliberately ignoring the truth, and worse, attempting to discredit someone who dares to speak it.

    Ms. Kovach,
You are a liar or the most mentally challenged reporter I have read lately, or both. I have read AP articles from 2000 detailing the NAU. You are the fiction, you do not exist. . 2+2=4 explative explative

Can You Believe I Almost Feel Sorry For People Like Gretel C. Kovach, To Be So Ignorant, It Really Is A Sad Reality To Know There Are Diseased People Like Her Out There...YES IGNORANCE IS A DISEASE...!

This is such an outrageous case of bad fact checking or political bias, take your pick. Did subscribers just stumble upon an ala "The New Republic" type scandal in the making. Any remember the movie about it "Shattered_Glass".

btw - I suppose legislatures in Alberta are part of this made up conspiracy /sarcasm

It appears Ms. Kovach didn't take or failed miserably at Journalism 101. Her research of this subject demonstrates patent sophomoric irresonsibility and a complete lack of journalistic integrity. I was among approx. 55 people that sat in a public hearing room on the third floor of the Oklahoma State Capitol this past April. Fourteen (14) Okalhoma State Senators and Representatives were in attendance too. These state legislators specifically invited NASCO executive director Ms. Tiffan Melvin and her director of communications - Francisco Condi to drive from Dallas, TX for the day to speak with them and interested members of the public such as myself. The Subject at hand: The State of Oklahoma DOT's seat on the executive committee of NASCO paid for my Okalhoma Tax dollars since 1994 totalling over $ 425,000.00 with NOTHING to show for it as well as Ms. Melvin's patronizing 35 minute presentation telling everyone in attendance why Oklahoma's support of a NASCO super corridor highway would be in the best interest of the Oklahoma State Govt. and it's private / commerical citizens. Mr. Condi followed with an equally arrogant - condescending 4 minute run on sentence about the benefits of NASCO. Both acted as if their special trip from their Dallas high rise NASCO office was of some substance and self importance. All the while asking the very people who invited them to speak to give up State Constituion Amendment 11 so the State of Oklahoma could be sued by ANY entity - private or govt. / domestic or foreign if NASCO were to be held liable for legal infractions once the NASCO Super Corridor was under construction in Oklahoma.

Like a previous commentor, it's no wonder I cancelled my subscription to this magazine over twenty years ago. It's writers like Ms. Kovach and her managing editors that lack sound journalisitic technique. And this brazen, biased article about Congressman Paul and his genuine, factually supported list of concerns about NASCO is a prime example of my utter lack of respect for this magazine and it's writers such as G. Kovach.
May I suggest you sharpen your skills Ms. Kovach or consider tendering your resignation and change your field of alleged expertise. - CinOKCity

    Goodbye NewsWeek.

We got a free subscription for some work we did at a local public radio station but it will end after reading this.

You have no place in this country and We the People are tired of your corporate agenda.

Gee, Newsweek. If we're not supposed to believe people talking about the NAU/UNA, why do you end up putting up links where we can read about it? Conspiracy Theory my ass.

Its articles like this that make me realize that Dr. Paul has a real chance to win this thing. I mean why else would a so-called leading News magazine be attacking him with these blatant lies? His progress has got them running scared. RON PAUL FOR PRESIDENT 2008.

Corridors of the Future - Phase I

The International Mid-Continent Trade and Transportation Corridor, represented by North America???s SuperCorridor Coalition, Inc. Wow! How can you write a piece like this without doing any research? Go to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trans-Texas_Corridor if you think the superhighway is a myth.
