If there is to be a unified currency, it might better be known as the "gringo".

Had Ms. Kovach done the bare minimum of research, rather than calling the Highway Dept. in Oklahoma.. she would have found out there Really is a NA Superhighway planned. There have been two votes in Texas to retard the process, and several Oklahoma Congressmen are also trying to thwart it.

Ron Paul won't be embarrassed by this article, the Truth can't hurt him.. But the total lack of Journalistic Skills and Integrity are quite embarrassing for Ms. Kovach!

A lot of folks in Texas feel that the goal of a NAFTA superhighway is to move CHEAP Chinese goods from Mexican ports, up through Texas, into various areas of the US and Canada. The ports have already been established in Mexico, and they are simply waiting for the corridors to be established to move the goods. This is an excellent article that explains the current federal administrations goal. It is a policy stronly supported by the governor of Texas, Rick Perry, and the Texas legislature.

By the way, there is a new TTC I-69 being planned now mostly in secret meetings without any public input, which will run from either Laredo or Brownsville, Texas going northeast through possibly Texarkana, all the way through America to Detroit. This new corridor will be a tolled highway, to increase revenue for Texas, and although it is proposed to be smaller than the current TTC-35, it will still displace hundreds of citizens from their homes, ranch land, and farms.

Here are a few more sources you can acquaint yourself with:

As you can see the NAFTA superhighway is a real project and there's nothing outlandish about it, it's just a really big international highway. By itself there???s no real threat posed to anyone, though some might not like the potential implications for immigration. I think the real concern is that this alongside the guest worker programs and other efforts are just part of this larger goal of a North American Union that Vicente Fox envisions.

I strongly suggest you do a little research about a story before you talk about this sort of issue. Here's a few sources for you to look at: http://www.nascocorridor.com/index.html, http://keeptexasmoving.com/index.php/trans-texas_corridor, http://www.la-entrada-al-pacifico.com/, and Vicente Fox's book Revolution of Hope on page 101 mentions he pushed for a North American Union

Oh, and Gretel, tell your buddy that comparing Chuck Norris to George Washington is sad.

  • Posted By: journalism...where? @ 12/03/2007 4:23:08 PM

Hey Gretel, nice job doing your research. Remember when we went to war 4 years ago over WMD's? Wonder where they went? I guess the guy who came up with this NAU 'conspiracy' is hiding them at his house. I thought statements by former presidents were credible. I guess Vincente Fox is a liar.

Not only are you completely wrong, as the comments below mine point out, but there is so much more to Ron Paul then this. Why not cover his in-depth knowledge of monetary policy and that he is the only candidate with a plan to revive our dollar and save us from an economic collapse? Or the fact that he is the only anti-war Republican running? How about his incredible knowledge of foreign policy, or the reading list he gave Rudy Giuliani? All of these are much bigger and interesting stories, but heaven forbid you cover a candidate who isn???t a living political stereotype in a positive light???that might pass as real journalism, and we all know that is long dead. There is a reason less and less Americans are turning to magazines like Newsweek for their information, garbage like this article.

My apologies, as far as the Larry King interview goes, a simple YouTube search can disprove this whole article.

I would have agreed with your article if I hadn't heard President Vicente Fox himself talk about the plans him and President Bush were laying out for the future. This was mentioned in a Larry King interview.

You should rename your magazine NEWSPEAK. People have caught on. They are sick of your lies. People have always hated the truth. All of you are going to have to eat your words concerning Ron Paul.

What a BS article. What arrogance! Not everyone is totally stupid. SPP also shows the damn highway that is currently there yet we are told it doesn't exist. Bush is selling the country to big business like a whore on the street corner. There is an invasion in which our current government is complicit and we are supposed to buy the ramblings of this toilet paper rag article. Why is that anyone with loyalty to the U.S. is negatively titled a protectionist?

  • Posted By: Collie1228 @ 12/03/2007 12:22:53 PM

Your biased article was obviously written in an attempt to dispel any idea that there might be a conspiricy going on in Texas, and all it did was to convince me that there IS something going on here. Maybe it's not a true conspiracy, but there is obviously something going on there. This is actually the first I've heard all this, and I have to say, it sounds like a typical government-corporate joint venture, where the politicians get cash for re-election, the corporate thieves get profit and power, and the taxpayers get the shaft. Thank you Messrs. Corsi, Paul, Dobbs and others for bringing this issue into the light of day.

In Texas, big business is so entertwined with state government officials, that Ron Paul's comments during the CNN debates are absolute FACT! The (mostly Republican) state officials that are pushing this change in Texas include Rick Perry, House Speaker Tom Craddick, and the recently retired Rep. Mike Krusee, chair of the Transportation Committee. These three men have done the most damage anyone could possibly do, in the past five years, for the state of Texas. In order to "not raise taxes" they have imposed more tolled highways...which, by the way, IS a TAX on motorists, than any other state in the nation. A tolled highway can cost an average Texas motorist that commutes on the tollway each day, $2,800 a year in tolls. A one-way commute is about $4.50...you do the math, if you work six days a week. The funny thing is, these highways have already been paid for by taxpayers with the gas tax, and at times, they already exsist as two or three lane roads. Perry, Craddick, Krusee, and TXDOT have stolen Texas public highways, bought , paid for, and maintained for decaades by Texas taxpayers, and sold them off to the highest bidder , often time a foreign corporation, like Cintra of Spain. Cintra, and Maquerie of Austrailia pay these politicians handsomely come campaign time. These corporations also manage to squelch any public outcry against (1) land taken by eminent domain, (2) double tax tolls on freeways that already exsist, and (3) private meetings between big business and government officials. How do they do this? Maquerie has bought up approximately 30 small, local newspapers in towns that exsist along the proposed Trans Texas Corridor! This is not a JOKE...it is for real. The downfall of our Democratic way of life, of "a government for the people, by the people" will be this new policy of government theft of our publicly owned assets, sold off to large corporations who stand to gain huge profits. Americans have a hard time understanding this situation as directly affecting their personal incomes and taxes, and I think Ron Paul did a damn good job explaining it in the CNN YouTube debate.

Well, that article really didn't clear anything up for me. Sounds like there will be a highway that is foreign controlled, built on Texan land that is seized by the Gov't.
With the way of the world and the lust for globalization (by our rulers), a North American Union as the next step is not paranoia, just what we expect from the Govt.

There might not be a "plan" as in there is something solid that people are getting ready to enact tomorrow. It is inescapable, however, that certain individuals and groups with an internationlist ideology want to create some kind of north american union. Just go read the materials on the Council on Foreign Relation's website to see examples of such agendas. Here, I'll even get you started...

    http://www.cfr.org/publication/8173/north_american_community_approach_to_security.html

"The U.S. Congress should also merge the U.S.-Mexican and U.S.-Canadian interparliamentary groups into a single ???North American Parliamentary Group.??? A third institution should be a ???Permanent Tribunal on Trade and Investment.??? NAFTA established ad hoc dispute panels, but it has become difficult to find experts who do not have a conflict of interest to arbitrate conflicts. A permanent court would permit the accumulation of precedent and lay the groundwork for North American business law."

"At the same time, our Task Force recommends that all three governments define and defend a continental perimeter."

A continental border and a super court judging matters of business law for all three (US/Canada/Mexico) nations. That doesn't sound like a north american union at all, no siree. Wake up people.
