Comment: I live about 30 - 40 miles away from Parkersburg, IA. Politics and global warming aside this is a tradegy that will take the residents of Parkersburg a long time to recover from. We are all saddened by the sudden loss. On this Memorial Day, let's take time to pray for those families devestated by the storms that took too many lives.

Comment: The tornadoes in Arkansas are not "Acts of God" - like the recent tornadoes in other states, the floods in Missouri, and the drought in California, they are by-products of global warming. I know a lot of folks will deny this, but insurance companies are not fools. You can expect massive rate increases through the central part of America. If we do not act decisvely on global warming, what we're seeing now will seem like a tea party in
Alice in Wonderland five or ten years down the road.

Let's see how our "leaders" are showing leadership. Hillary Clinton, John McCain, and George Bush are proposing various forms gas tax holidays., first for the summer, so Mom, Pop, and the kids can hop into the SUV and see the NASCAR races, then for the fall, because it's hunting season. This will not fight global warming. All three of these "leaders" are acting like irresponsible 5 year olds. This is not leadership, is cheap political pandering.

Like the Grinch who stole Christmas, or like Daddy telling his son to eat his vegetables or he'll never get another chocolate cookie for as long as he lives, Obama is providing the public with straight talk that would put John McCain to shame. If you check out a recent article by Jonathan Alder, you'll see all the reasons Obama is taking a stand. He's showing courage and strength. He's the only presidential candidate that is acting like an adult. The big question is - are there enough adults in Indiana and North Carolina to vote for him.

Comment: There have been tornadoes, flooding, drought, hurricanes and everything else for millions of years on this planet. But that doesn't make a bit of difference to people like you, who use these tragedys to fuel your own political agenda. It is pathetic.

And you want to talk about political pandering? What about all the rhetoric removed from Obamas website about how the surge in Iraq wasn't working, now that everyone is saying that it is? And now he is saying we need to send 10,000 more troops to Afghanistan. Is that the type of political pandering you are talking about? Or how about getting all our troops out of Iraq 16 months after he is elected...now he is going back on that, citing 'troop safety' and 'I???m going to continue to gather information to find out whether those conditions still hold.' Don't you think he should have gathered the information before he made baseless promises to the American people? I guess that is the type of 'Straight talk' you are referring too.

Obama is no better than any of the other weasels on 'The Hill'. It is to bad people like yourself can not see passed your own drunk love for the guy to see that.

Comment: want to make it political? bash the bitter people with faith? you liberal? Just take a look at the worst affected areas and democratic delegate map. Start praying. Or pretend that you don't see these things. Don't drag the gas tax holiday into this. BTW , next time don't drive around the time looking for the gas station which gives you 10 cents a gallon less. YOu don't care for the small change anyway.
