Forget War With Iran

It is interesting that this politcial move comes on the heels of Iran's leaders meeting with the Vatican. See Time articl "Iran's Secret Weapon: The Pope"

It seems that President Bush's excuse to attack Iran because of its nuclear program is weakened. However a more serious issue faces the US in the form of its weakening US dollar, its "weapon of mass destruction". If Iran and OPEC decide to value oil against euros or gold, which is being mulled about lately, that could spell disaster to the US dollar further weakening it. An attack on Iran to save the dollar while using the Iranian nuclear program as an excuse (just like what happened under Saddam Hussein) seems problematic at this time. Ironically, the US dollar might in itself be the Trojan Horse to the US economy in the near future.

Wasn't that the focus when the war started? As things progressed new threats showed themselves.

First in 2003 Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was not in power, second we were already dealing with the homicidal loonatic next door to them, if Iran really did back off then it was out of fear, nothing more. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is a socialpath and, like Hitler, makes his intentions very clear. Does history need to repeat? He is a terrorist, if he gets nuclear tech he will make a bomb and use it. We lost 4 planes and two towers full of people, is it going to take the loss of a city for people to smarten up?

I would like to know what else the President should have done when America was attacked? If he would have done nothing, then the people complaining about what he has done would be complaining about his lack of action. It is the media and political drama that keep things from getting done. Yes, money should go towards Americans that live in poverty, but what about education, technology, and research? Getting through the war should be the number one priority because another attack will only weaken what is left of America.

I do not see Hillary Clinton as a looser when she alignment ed with hardliners on Iran looks . Her support was based on politically manupulated intelligent informations to support the administration spartan position. Now that it became clear of the incorrect intelligencce, I do not see why it willbe wrong for Mrs Clinton to change her support . Decisions are made based on the available information at the time, when new information become available, it will be foolish not to rething and adjust once decision.....

I think this is not a good idea for the American people to accepting to going to another war with Iranians. While they already have with war Iraqi. Au! It will be nice for American people to be treating the world nicely as that they are supper power over everybody on the world. Why do they jealous with some of the nations. This is a shame to all the congress in the house of the United States. Please tell them. We do not want to be having another war with any one. The war in Iraq is enough for American people to for. It is now become a serious case to put blame on entire nation of United States.

President Bush is a WAR president..his intentions to the American public is to make us focus on Iran and not whats going on in Iraq. He raped the country of Iraq. When no WMD were not found he should have never sent our troops over to be slaughtered. Hell mr. President...it does not take a rocket science to see through your game plans. I just pray America can continue to read between the lines of this tyrant! He needs to look in his own backyard and put all the war money towards the poverty stricken americans, but no, that would be to humane and no drama for the Bush Administration.

Working in the intelligence world, and now having read this article make me hate the media and journalists more and more. The NIE has not changed their intelligence reports, they have just become more accurate by our close proximity to them in Iraq. They are still a threat, all we have learned since the 2005 report is that they know we're serious, and intelligence points to them halting their progress towards Nukes. Iran is scared, and they take our threats seriously. I think the latest NIE report shows the progress that the Bush Administration and the US military have made in Iraq and the Middle East. STOP blowing these stories out of proportion to make a headline, you are the real threat to national security.

Pres Bush your wrong about who to listen to. Pray to the Lord for the right answer and if you believe with all your heart the answer will be know when you look at all the facts,

Comments like eddiewhere are the kind of comments I like to see when I view the boards here. Very well said and very right. Your not a pro-war person that just says to invade. It does matter how we invade. An invasion like eddiewhere's idea (which isn't really an invasion) is what needs to happen. Not something like the invasion of Iraq.

WITHOUT RUSSIA IRAN WOULD HAVE NOTHING. Why can't the pubic see that the real threat are the break-away republics of Russia(most notably the 5 Muslim States in Central Asia and the Ukraine)crime families in Eastern Europe and the technological advancement of China. Iran, Pakistan, India, all countries in Africa have no means of deploying a successful nuclear attack. Let's take care of the nuclear, chemical and biological weapons that already exist not on those that do not exist. I really do not want to mention Iraq, but we are taking are eye of the real threat again.
