The only thing we should logically conlude from this is that his(Bush) policy has worked....when you do not back down from a bully(Iran) they have no alternative but to fight or back down.....Iran has rethought its Nuke policy at this time because of Bush....President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad thinks he just has to get through this election and he can continue back to the NUKE business. I find funny how we are so quick to judge Bush anything good or bad...but when it is a leader of another country who is extreme in all policies they are given passes.(This is the same man who believes the Holocaust did not happen...also has stated freely that he wants to kill all JEWS) Also you reference Russia's Vladimir Putin as a man of worth...is this not the same man who was in the KGB and is bringing back a iron fist gov't in Russia.(oh by the way if you live in those coutries and disagree with these two men what do you think happens to you) just ask oh thats right they are dead... What is wrong with America is not our policies but with those who support our enimies.

I take it you must be a racist.....or you must be deaf, dumb and blind.
II think the intelligence agencies realized that we are not playing monopoly and the game was for real. In the recent past they have made supportive statements for the Bush/Cheney mis-administration but realized, for the good of the country, that could/would not continue. Lies do not build anything, lies destroy everything.
fvmaster-good comment;
Paul Lookup-excellent commentary. You are on the solutions path and you provided facts, right or wrong this is how people have to start thinking. HOW CAN WE SOLVE THESE PROBLEMS OR WHAT STEPS CAN WE TAKE TO BEGIN AND AT LEAST TRY AND SOLVE THESE PRoblems. We have to MOVE FORWARD because the powers of divisiveness want us to sit here and argue about the past. We must learn from the past and unite people by providing solutions.
I'm sorry to be blunt, but we have to face the fact that Bush and his cronies are simply irresponsible liars. They've killed tens of thousands of Iraqis, and thousands of Americans, for no truthful reason, and the monumental Bush lie about Katrina was refuted by videotape. Now Iraq. If you believe or respect Bush, you are stupid or ignorant. There are no other logical possibilities.
I am nither stupid or ignorant. If the left wing of this country wanted us out of Iraq they would have gotten us out. Isn't that the reason that there was a big turnover in congress and the senate. All of these promises to get us out of Iraq have come and gone. Why haven't they voted to cut funding, because they know that deep down inside they are doing the right thing. Let's back off the name calling as well, that is no way to solve a problem. Just because I believe one thing and you another an immature name calling session is not in order. As far as Katrina. Are you serious. Let's look at the local and state government and how much they failed these people. Remember, they had the federal funding to fix the levees and they squandered it on casinos and other ridiculous pork projects. The President did what he could.
The writer is blunt, but can not be blamed for name calling. He nor anybody else has called you stupid or ignorant. From whatever side of the political spectrum, one must face realities. A failed war in Iraq, another in Afghanistan, and the US on the verge of a third war with Iran. I am not overly proud of the opposition of the Democrats, but that in itself is no reason for the Bush administration to continue an illegal war in Iraq and threaten to wage war with Iran. Did I hear a plea from you about good old diplomacy? A plea to abolish all nuclear weapons?
I can't help but think back to the first few weeks / months after 9/11. At that time, everyone in America wanted to go into Iraq with full military force as revenge against a dictatorship most every American felt was responsible for this unprovoked attack against civilians merely working to make a living. I thought at the time: "does America have the strenght to go forward with Military action and are we prepared to suffer the consequences of those actions?" Or, with this be another Viet Nam? Did anyone believe we could go forward, as most wanted, and not suffer more casualities, more spending and more debates on what is right or wrong? Should be just up and leave Iraq? Then those valiant military men and women that gave their lives would all be in vain. THAT would be the tragedy! That would be the sin America woild commet. As for Iran, does anyone belive if America turns a blind eye to all those that wish America evil, then all would be forgiven? No, that will not happen. We would only be letting our guard down for another tragedy far worse than 9/11. It is my opinion there will never be peace in America again. Far too many countries wish us ill and would be dancing in the streets (as they did after 9/11) if there was another attack on us. DIctators worse than Sadam Hussain would rise to power and one of those just may decide to use the ultimate weapon of mass destruction against us. And not only would America suffer, the WORLD would suffer. Whether or not I believe in Presedent Bush or not is not the question. He is our President and should be treated with that respect. After all, he cannot possibly read all of the reports which come to his office. He has people to sort out and report on everything to him. My stance is with our military. They deserve our support and thanks for the job they are doing. Their blood is being shed for what "America Wanted After 9/11!!!
I sympathise with your concerns. However, Iraq was not behind 9/11, so why did the US attack it? Why does it stay there? If you say: ?????? military men and women that gave their lives would all be in vain???, is that in itself a reason to stay occupying a foreign country? Nobody blames the military. I agree they deserve our sympathy and support. But they do not make the decisions. It is the politicians who sent them into an illegal war. Politicians who were on the verge of sending the military into yet another war, that with Iran. Have you wondered why so many nations feel uncomfortable about the US? Can you imagine a self-respecting country will accept to be bullied? Will you, by your neighbour? Have you looked at the trade agreements the US pushes through the throats of developing countries? About the 70% rise in the "defence" spending of the US under Bush? The budget surplus of 2.4 percent of GDP which greeted Bush as he took office, having turned into a deficit of 3.6 percent in the space of four years? President Bush deserves our respect, if he tells the truth. But we have every right to hold him to account. Do you seriously believe he was unaware about they key message of ???the report???? Finally, to address your concerns over ???use the ultimate weapon of mass destruction against us???: will the US take the lead to abolish all nuclear weapons from the world? Including its own?
Comment: All of you liberal "turn our country into europe before world war II people"....Wake up and smell your starbucks coffee.... Islamic Facism is real; and will someday turn our children's perfect world into ashes; while you sit around and debate over whether they really mean it....
I would like to know what else the President should have done when America was attacked? If he would have done nothing, then the people complaining about what he has done would be complaining about his lack of action. It is the media and political drama that keep things from getting done. Yes, money should go towards Americans that live in poverty, but what about education, technology, and research? Getting through the war should be the number one priority because another attack will only weaken what is left of America.
You are kidding, right? I mean it's six years later and you are still using that stale played out rhetorical line, " what else could the president have done"? Well let's see, first he could have acted like a mature intelligent leader of the free world and taken advantage of the true world wide "political capital" that he had at that moment. For example by meeting soberly and with NO POLITICAL AGENDA (ie. ok boys, here is our chance to get Iraq, no matter what the evidence shows) with his intelligence bureaus and figured out where Bin Laden was located, find him with our military, ( the finest in the world!) and KILL HIM for what he did to our country on 911. Instead he acted like the immature low IQ individual that he is and cherry picked intelligence to fit a preconceived agenda, namely WAR WITH IRAQ. And now replaying the whole event by threatening war with Iran, again over what turned out to be cooked up fabricated intelligence by his OWN chronies. ( Bolten, Scooter, and the gang) THANK GOD that we now seem to have some men of integrity in the positions of leadership at the CIA, NSA, ETC. who really do put their country before their politics. It will take us decades to re-establish our credibility with the world because of Bush, Chaney. It's very sad!
How could Bin Laden have done all of the destruction by himself? He couldn't have. The organizations that he worked with were in Iraq, which is a relevant reason to send troops there.
Iraq had NOTHING to do with 9/11!! That has been shown time and again! Bin Laden's organization was actually based in Afghanistan and several of the members came from Saudi Arabia where the President's family has friends and business associates. So instead of going after the real enemies he went after Iraq as an ego trip or something of that nature. i am not sure we'll ever kow the real reasons for our going there!
Why is everyone focusing so much on Iran, if the real discussion should be to abolish all nuclear arms? During the Cold War, the bomb did have a function: deterrence. The two powers kept each other in balance. But the world has changed. Anybody can acquire nuclear weapons. A terrorist group could get its hands on the technology, or even on a ready-made bomb. A threat that the atomic scientists of the Manhattan Project, who made the first bomb, already realised way back in 1945. Hence their proposal to ban nuclear weapons altogether, the so-called Lillienthal-Acheson Plan. What they feared then now becomes reality: North Korea is a nuclear power, and India, and a very unstable Pakistan.
Will the US take the lead to abolish all nuclear weapons from the world? Including its own?
Is abolishion an illusion? I don???t think so. If the major nuclear powers US, China and Russia, all permanent members of the UN Security Council, offer a step by step dismantlement of their arsenals in exchange for a moratorium on proliferation, they will surely find allies in the 180 countries which have already signed the Nonproliferation Treaty. With such a united show of good will, how can countries like Iran, Pakistan, India, North Korea and ??? Israel insist on keeping their arsenals?

The USA needs to go in there like the good ol Waffen SS boys and liquidate that dump of a country. Just like Cracow Poland and call it a day.

Here is whaty I say about people who think Bush should be impeached or should be charged for mass murder.
If you want to charge Bush for murder then you must charge every leader that lead his/her nation during war that resulted in a large number of deaths.
LODESTONE will most likly reply to this with 'tool'.
The impeachment-trial procedure is in two steps. The House of Representatives must first pass "articles of impeachment" by a simple majority. (All fifty state legislatures as well as the District of Columbia city council may also pass articles of impeachment against their own executives.) The articles of impeachment constitute the formal allegations. Upon their passage, the defendant has been "impeached."
Next, the Senate tries the accused. In the case of the impeachment of a President, the Chief Justice of the United States presides over the proceedings. Otherwise, the Vice President, in his capacity as President of the Senate, or the President pro tempore of the Senate presides. This may include the impeachment of the Vice President, although legal theories suggest that allowing a person to be the judge in the case where she or he was the defendant wouldn't be permitted. If the Vice President did not preside over an impeachment (of someone other than the President), the duties would fall to the President Pro Tempore.
In order to convict the accused, a two-thirds majority of the senators present is required. Conviction automatically removes the defendant from office. Following conviction, the Senate may vote to further punish the individual by barring them from holding future federal office (either elected or appointed). Despite a conviction by the Senate, the defendant remains liable to criminal prosecution. It is possible to impeach someone even after the accused has vacated their office in order to disqualify the person from future office or from certain emoluments of their prior office (such as a pension). If a two-thirds majority of the senators present does not vote "Guilty" on one or more of the charges, the defendant is acquitted and no punishment is imposed.
Who ever heard of a batch of coconspirators convicting one of their own.
Nice Come Back (non-sarcastically)
When will Americans realize that BUSH is the reincarnation of SATAN, and Cheney is the BLACK ANGEL of death, this is not about a defense of Iran, because the entire world knows that Allah and Mohammed are nothing more than the followers of SATAN I recommend that all Americans be armed with as many guns as it is possible to arm them with. And with a little luch they will all kill themselves and rid the world of all dumb morons. Let us start with SATANIC BUSH AND HIS UNDERLING THE MRECHANT OF DEATH and then the world can take a deep breath and be thankfull to the Lord Almighty for his deliverance.
WOW ... now thats a rather creative and completely vulgar depiction of the Islamic religion ..... good to know good ole racism and bigotry are still around ..... what a *** ... oh and by the way thanks for reminding me why being an American-Arab is such a hard thing to be these days glad I can raise my Half Breed "Satanic" worshipping daughter in such a love filled enviroment ....... hey did you wanna join me for the goat sacrafice tonight ....?

I think this is not a good idea for the American people to accepting to going to another war with Iranians. While they already have with war Iraqi. Au! It will be nice for American people to be treating the world nicely as that they are supper power over everybody on the world. Why do they jealous with some of the nations. This is a shame to all the congress in the house of the United States. Please tell them. We do not want to be having another war with any one. The war in Iraq is enough for American people to for. It is now become a serious case to put blame on entire nation of United States.
We are not at war with Iraq or the majority of Iraqis for that matter. Yes its not 2003 anymore. Its 2007. New mission goals and new reason to be theer.
"New mission goals and a new reason to be there"?? So we can just change the reason our kids are getting killed because the presidents first lie didn't work out so well? Shoot, there really were no WMDs but now we are gonna build a nation, fight terrorism, give people a democracy or some other reason that we will make up as we go along. We have done such good work over there that I think we need ot invade North Korea so we can take out that brutal dictator and give the people a democratically elected government! At least we know for a fact that THEY have WMDs!!
This poor excuse for a commander in chief makes me sick. By far the worst president ever. I can brag that I did not vote for this jerk , for a change I voted democrat
You mean as always. Lost twice didn't you or do you have "He's not really the president" like all your other lib buddies.
I personally would still rather be on the losing side of the election than feel the shame of having voted for the man who currently occupies the White House. The worst President in my lifetime by a large margin.
I just love the way people like wcool777 accuse people of always voting democrat or of being liberals just because they did not vote for Bush. I have always (starting with Ronald Reagan) voted for the candidate I most believe in or who I feel can best lead the country. Just becasue I don't adopt a straight party voting line does not make me a liberal.....or a conservative for that matter. i am just a voter who bothers to educate himself.
The problem with some people today, other than forgot to follow God rules, is that they have short memory. Right after 9-11 we could have gone to war with the Pope if we wanted to. We were hurt and saw evil as it is. These radical regimes WILL NOT REST until the see us down and out. For them we are nothing but the devil that needs to be eradicated. Pure and simple. There is nothing that we can do to change their minds. The only logic thing to do, it is to demonstrate them that we are stronger than them and they will perish if they try to hurt us. God bless Bush to do what we, still the majority, wants.
Ummmm, what majority are you referring to fireball777? Last I checked the majority of Americans are AGAINST what Bush is doing in the world.
fireball777 - what are you doing, still smoking dope?
Is that your only respons? Whoes the one smoking dope now, the one who talks truth or the one who has nothing to say but "are you smoking dope"?
I believe that too many of Americans have forgotten 9/11. It is not just one persons decision to go to war, it is a whole group of people, our federal government, not just one man. WAKE UP AMERICA we all should sit down and give thanks to GOD for our freedom and our lives and that he gives guidance to our officials in office to make the proper decisions. I love you all!
Did anyone here happen to notice that the terror suspects in the 9/11 attack were all Saudi? Not Iraqi. So why didn't we attack Saudi Arabia? Because the are corporate members of the Bush Oil cartel. The goal of the Iraq war was to gain control over the Iraq oil fields. The Saudis are also in on that, as well as the multinational corporations.Even Alan Greenspan admitted finally publically admitted that oil was the reason for invading.. US government intelligence said there were no weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, but there was another agenda in play so "evidence" had to be fabricated. We now know the original intelligence was correct, there were no weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, and many good people, our sons and daughters had to die for us to learn the truth. But that is not enough for the Bush oil cartel, they want to send even more Americans to die to take over the Iranian oil fields too. Fool us once, shame on you. Fool us twice, shame on us.
You must not understand economics then. We NEED oil to surive. Why would we attack an ally that is giving us that oil just becuase the terrorists were from there? Are you saying that every Saudi should be punished for that? You can't honsestly believe Iraq was only about oil fields. The war caused prices to go up. We have not secured more oil for ourselves, so how can the war only be about oil?
How can you say the intel for the 2005 report was at best mixed? Do you have access to this intel? Did you verify this intel? Or is it at best mixed because the new report supports your ideologies? Do you think, maybe Iran has stopped it's quest for nuclear weapons based upon what President Bush has told the world he is prepared to do in the event they have the bomb? But, I guess that would be plain silly. I mean to think a public policy this president has stated would actually affect the actions of another country in a positive way for America. There is no proof that President Bush has intentionally lied to anyone about any of his policies. All presidents and other foreign leaders base their actions and policies on intelligence and reports given by others. These others are supposed to be professional in the conduct of their duties. It wasn't President Bush who first stated Saddam Hussein must be removed from the head of Iraq. That was your beloved President Clinton (who, by the way, made a habit of liing to the American public), and several of his cronies, after reviewing the same information that was later given to President Bush. Oh, guess we forgot about that tidbit of info. Just a quick question of this reporter, have you ever done any article that put a positive light on President Bush, his administration, or even America? And a comment for this reporter, from now on, just report the facts. Don't try to color the story with your opinions on what the story will do to America, the President, foreign entities, or anything else. You simply don't know how any of these bodies will react. You use supposition and conjecture like it's the God's honest truth facts when in reality, you are basically making things up to support your ideology. And I suppose all wars are unnecessary in your opinion. Do I like war? No, I don't. I have a son in the warzone now. And I fear for him. However, I am proud of him, and believe what he is doing is right. And what will your opinion be in 5 years time when Iran sends a nuclear missile at Isreal, Egypt, or any other country and starts WWIII? I know, it will be President Bush's fault.
We need more people like you in this country.
Bravo.
brigrat5831 please comment more often. Very good. I'm hoping someone listens to you and changes. Then maybe someone will see him and change and so on until logical thinking returns to the American mind.
