You sir are a pathetic excuse for a American the author Michael Hirsh is nothing more than a tree hugging incoherent, uneducated anti-American liberal, and people like him will be the cause of this great nation's demise.

Michael Hirsch has a college degree. He's not uneducated. You haven't heard him speak and the article is typed well. How can you call him incoherent. Is Michael Hirsch playing a bigger role in Americas demise than George Bush. You sound...how can I say this nicely. You don't sound like an educated person yourself.

    All YOUR CRITICISM IS WELL FOUNDED NOW WHAT IS YOUR SOLUTION. HOW DO WE GET RID OF THIS PROBLEM. HOW DO WE END GRIDLOCK; HOW DO WE ESTABLISH PEACE IN THE MIDDLE EAST. IGNORING THE PROBLEM IS NOT A VIABLE SOLUTION;
WHICH CANDIDATE CAN HANDLE THIS SITUATION BEST AND WHY? Provide PROOF; WHO HAS THE BEST SOLUTION??
WITHOUT RUSSIA IRAN WOULD HAVE NOTHING. Why can't the pubic see that the real threat are the break-away republics of Russia(most notably the 5 Muslim States in Central Asia and the Ukraine)crime families in Eastern Europe and the technological advancement of China. Iran, Pakistan, India, all countries in Africa have no means of deploying a successful nuclear attack. Let's take care of the nuclear, chemical and biological weapons that already exist not on those that do NOT EXIST. Once a new regime takes form they have to seperate church and state in a moderate fashion. We have to do this right, we cannot afford to go into Iran blind we have to do it intelligently through conduits of success. The fact are THAT RUSSIA AND CHINA ARE THE KEYS TO KEEPING THAT SIDE OF THE WORLD TAME. AfriCA is an enigma in that it there is no solution to their problems; I guess the global community is just hoping more die than live in Africa; and that the 1st world can continue their research projects. We really need to pick the best candidate. Be honest.

The facts remain facts: Our reason for invading Iraq was to remove Saddam Hussein because he was hiding WMD's. None were found. Our economy is going to hell as we continue to fund this war.

Iran made it clear from the outset that 1) they did not want a war AND 2)they were not producing WMD's. We never had the proof, like Iraq, that Iran has any such weapons despite all the claims. Now I read this, and I am astonished that anyone can actually support this administration any longer. Bush's strongest supporters will remain the ones with no fear of being drafted to fight in another illegal conflict overseas.

Our countries fervor over 9/11 led us on a terrorist hunt in the wrong country.

Are some of you people related to Bush? Has bush been such a great president that you actually would get offended over an article that is supposedly bashing bush? I think people who come to the defense of Bush sometimes just need to accept the fact that if you voted for him, then you have made a mistake. Until we have hard evidence that Iran is building a bomb. Dubya should just shut his mouth. We have so much else going on. Iran is ran by a extremist government but what are we? The point of the article is that our reputation has taken another hit once again. World leaders are losing respect for us. November 2008 can't get here soon enough. The next administration will have their hands full and I just hope the next president has a little more common sense. It is such a great trait to have yet overlooked. Just because you tell lies repeatedly won't make them come true.

"another war would be not only foolish but probably an impeachable offense"??? Are you kidding me? am I on Earth? What happend to the first war? all the lies? all the innocent deaths.. 4 years on??? That is not impeachable? 1 man has literally destroyed the framework of life, business, security and peace on this planet. But the best part, no other country, including mine, has the balls to hold George Bush responsible and accountable for his catostrophic decisions. STAND UP people... throw him out now! God help us all!

America was touted at one time as the " world's Police" . In light of the blunders in Iraq, afghanistan, and iran, one wonders, who should be the " Internal Affairs"? Absolute power corrupts absolutely..

Enough speculation. Enough invented drama for all the borring lives and slow news days. Enough negativism.

are related to george bush tudodo. newclear is spelled nuclear. Please tell me that was on purpose. But besides that. I'm not really surprised. another blunder from the bush administration. November 2008 can't get her soon enough. The next president will have their hands full for the next few years.

It is amazing to me how the press once again dramatizes news. It is a nightly soap opera all its own. They never report it right the first time all you here is we have an update on our top story. And they only want to report what "they want you to know" on all newscasts. It doesnt matter who first reports the news as that party is 99% wrong. Soldiers from Iraq will tell you what is reported is a small portion on what is truly going on over there. The fact is ever since President Bush has been elected all the press has done is twist, distort, and pick holes in all he has tried to do. Now mind you that doesnt mean I agree with all his policies at all. I am calling it as I see it. The only thing I wish was given a greater importance is capturing Osama Bin Laden. If that were to happen this hate which Iran has for the US and Israel which IS the meat of this issue would take a huge blow. The issue that isnt being reported is Muslims want the world in their religion and those that oppose get killed. That is fact. We have thousand of events to prove this. It is not a war of oil but a war about religion. This is why our oil prices have gone up because the Muslims own it. Since Canada has almost equal wealth in oil I dont understand why we dont fix our relationsips with them and trade leaving the Saudi alone. It is time to stop being so "nice" and stand up if we dont our economy will be gone regardless which party has (They are both the same in my eyes wanting your vote to do what they want ) the White House or Congress. It is time we vote for people that have backbone that answer your questions upfront not like Hillary who can't answer anything without checking with 10 people first. Come on America be yourselves vote for people with integrity not one who stood by her husband that was impeached, a person who said he "use" to be a Muslim, a man who is a Morman but won't impose he beliefs on the nation, and rash economist who says we can save billions on cutting programs already to the bone. Forget the media and their opinions. Yours and mine are equal in value. It is time for America to stand on its own feet declare independance from bias media coverage.

America was previouly touted as the " world's Police". Now, in light of things as they are( Iran, Afghanistan, iraq etc) the question is Who should be the " world's Internal Affairs".....Absolute power corrupts absolutely.

Without newsweek, how could we have the fair and balanced reporting that FOX claims...And to the comment earlier - not only 80 - 90 % of writters vote democratic - but in an astonishing correlation 80 - 90% of educated people do too. The reason the south is so red and the reason elections are republican biased - electoral college or not.

your american president is an idiot its time americans come to terms with it, he's making the US look bad

What is painful is the double standard clearly paraded. If Israel can boast of a newclear capability then why not any country in the middle east? They say if anybody wants peace, one should prepare for war. Iran should be allowed to acquire newclear capability just as is the case with israel pure and simple.

    In response to Peanut:
So you think, no doubt that the president was playing on the ???safe side??? in Iraq too???just in case some ill-founded rumors about WMDs happened to be true? Or in case Osama Bin Laden happened to turn up there some time in the future? I call being on the safe side saving up money for retirement or sending Christmas packages early to make sure they get there on time. I don???t think the concept can stretch far enough to include the unwarranted death of thousands of American soldiers who continue to die in Iraq for no particular reason???not to mention the hundreds of thousands of Iraqi soldiers and worse, civilians who have lost their lives just to be on the safe side. I can???t see how this sort of purposeless killing can be considered Godly. It certainly does not fit with my understanding of Christianity???that we have the responsibility to follow the example of Jesus Christ, to honor human life, to love our neighbors, to be merciful, to offer succor to those who suffer, not to be the cause of suffering ourselves.

In any case, Bush may indeed, be a Godly man as you say, maybe even a good one. But sadly, the qualities of goodness and Godliness alone don???t lead to sound foreign???or even domestic--policy. Other qualities, such as intelligence and single-minded dedication to good policy over good politics might do better.

Why am I not surprised another media joker makes trash comments about the President. They have brainwashed the public on what they call facts where it is a bunch of dramatic overtures to boost their clout among their own peers. Point is Iran is runned by an unstable mental lunatic that hates Israel and anyone that isnt Islam. To me he cant be trusted nor can he be ignored from the comments he has made imposing the will of his religion upon anyone that opposes. I guess the media once again is showing its ignorance on this matter. I still say IF Osama Bin Laden is captured dead or alive it would send a huge shock wave to the world. To me he is behind all the boldness or these suicide bombers, Iran's bodacious moves to make a nuclear bomb, Russia's new cold war with the West and the growing oil prices as they try to bring the US down with a bad economy which no one even tries to report because that is what their mission is. I think the press is way overrated with bias reports, and hatred towads the President since he was elected. This is not to say the President doesnt have his faults but compounding it with horrid reporting of assumptions and far fetched truths gives me little hope of the "real" news that is going on.
