FUNNY HOW THIS RON PAUL GUY ALWAYS HAS THE RIGHT ANSWERS EVEN WHEN HE IS BEING ATTACKED AND TRIED TO BE MADE OUT TO BE A QUACK NO MATTER HOW LOGICAL HIS ANSWERS ARE.

Howard comes off like a dick in these interviews. Ive never heard of him so maybe its just his body language. He has this "are you really serious?" look and tone about him that could only lead me to believe that he has never done independent research on the topics he was asking about. He also manages to stop him in the middle of his answers for more "are you really serious?" type questions a total of 8 times Survey says: douche nozzle Howard and Newsweek: 0 Ron Paul: 8

Howard Fineman and Newsweek: 0 Ron Paul: 8

the following (previous) comment is SO worthy of repeating, and I concur:

"Comment: I am a 9 year Army veteran and I can tell you that Iraq has to do with only 2 things, controlling the hundreds of billions of barrels of oil under it's sands, and increasing the American Global Empire and Feeding the Greed of the Corporatocracy. Read "Confessions of an Ecomomic Hitman" by John Perkins. Educate yourself before you comment out of ignorance and a misguided sense of patriotism. A true Patriot is not afraid to question and defy a wrongful, corrupt government. How do you think we freed ourselves from England?"

These loaded questions are so tactless and crass. This is not journalism. He is trying to set Dr. Paul up and he's not taking the bait. Then Fineman has the gall to edit in comments about how Dr Paul was critical of Huckabee and Romney. He was not at all critical, he gave balanced, well thought out answers to these booby trap questions. Same thing with the Israel question. Fineman tried to bait RP into saying Israel is not entitled to a home in Palestine. HAH! RP is too smart to take the bait and calmly says in so many words, "it's not for me to decide, we should not have our nose in their business" Who can argue with that? Newsweek is not a news organization, they are a propaganda outlet for the Corporatocracy

I forgot to put up this link:

The article that ignores Dr. Paul polling over McCain in MSNBC/Newsweek's OWN POLLS. Sorry as a former journalism student I find this appalling, such this deserve a mention. Dr. Paul was somewhere between 0-1% of the poll a mere 8 months ago and here he is overtaking John McCain, the man everyone thought would be the Republican candidate last year. This is big news, BIG news, and should be given some thought and consideration as to who are the front runners. Not to say I think we should continue to focus only on front running candidates, I think that's how we get these bubbles of support in the first place, McCain, Rudy, Romney, Thompson and now Huckabee. If the news could methodically and adequately cover every candidate rather than making rounds the media coverage wouldn't be as crucial to the race, because everyone would have been reported on by the last couple months before the primaries.

Trouble?! The good Doctor is like a ball floating on a pond. Pundits come by and try to push him down into the pond and he is amazing resistant. The Doctor's comments are smart and true yet he doesn't give the expected answers, he is reasonable without being arrogant because he is using logical reasoning and not spin-doctory. Dr. Paul is doing better than he ever was I wouldn't expect a decline for sometime, and hopefully not at all, but it is telling that this organization (Newsweek) hid the results of their own poll for their news reporting (see below for links). McCain made a measly 6% in the polls while Dr. Paul scored an astounding 8% and yet was not mentioned in the line-up. Quit doctoring the books Newsweek, report what you find and we might be able to still call you a news outlet.

which I found linked from here:
Paul Beats McCain in Iowa; MSNBC/Newsweek Censors Own Poll

Also linked is this article, which uses the poll results and expounds on the Huckabee boom but does not mention Dr. Paul mopped the media darling McCain in their own poll. Tune-in it sure seems like these news companies are trying to pick the front runner, now all the focus on Huckabee at the right time and place only points out more their inability to cover small candidates till they are performing a major takeover. You're either incompetent or corrupting your duties Newsweek so which is it?
    Good night and good luck.

I wish there were more Videos of this type. I also wish that Howard Fineman could have these types of substantive interviews with the other candidates. In other words ask them why they think it necessary to KEEP the IRS, or Why should the Fed Gov keep spending money it doesnt have or Why should we be intervening in the affairs of other nations when we are broke and need to borrow from China and Japan to implement our foreign Policy? C'mon Howard show your stuff by being as hard hitting as you are with Dr Paul.

I certainly did not hear Dr. Paul's response(s) in the light described below by vzor. Paul made it clear, as with all 'interventions' that we didn't belong on one side or the other. He simply stated that Israel could take care of itself. The point that I felt was significant was that the area could be shared...and that this possibility has been addressed and remains open for consideration. Bottom line: We do not belong in the position of financing conflict or providing arms to other entities.

    • Posted By: vzor @ 12/09/2007 6:48:25 PM

I have no argument with the bottom line or that fact that he stated it as such. But it is his personal opinion (essentially a statement of where his heart rather than his mind is) that is going to get emphasized. Essentially, the President as leader -- not as a commander in chief -- is expected to say that any genocide is a terrible thing. As a commander-in-chief he should say, "but we are staying out." Maybe it's because pepole are saving up for the 16th, but if you look at the donations graphs, that was the day (when the viddeo got released) that his donations started to drop off significantly. This video is troubl I tell you.

Vote for ron paul he we set us free!! I am a combat veteran. I served two tours of duty in Iraq and lost Two of my closest friends. When they say that it has nothing to do with oil they are full of it some of my missions in Iraq were escorting trucks loaded with pipes to oil areas. I saw more work being done to oil fields than I saw us helping the Iraqis. We could get none of the oil though do to the Irais blowing up the pipes almost every day.

Allan Greenspan has said that the U.S. went to war for oil. So it would seem you are in pretty good company. Thanks for your service to our country and for your candor.

Ron Paul is the only presidential candidate whose positions make sense. It's about time the government got out of our lives. They are killing us with taxes and squandering our money on things we don't need or want. We could save some 3 Billion dollars a week just by getting our troops out of Iraq. I'd like to see a smaller federal governement with drastically reduced taxes and less involvement in the affairs of other nations AND it's own citizens. It's a shame that the media doesn't give Ron Paul the coverage he deserves, but he's got my vote even if I have to write his name in. "It is the duty of a patriot to defend his country from it's government." ~~Author unknown

The income tax act is unconstitutional and was overturned by the US Supreme Court, so people are completely justified in not paying income taxes.

Just so we are clear. I am a supporter of Dr. Paul. I gave him money. I never gave money to anyone before. But! His answers on Israel could sink him. Not because you have to be a Zionist to run for a political office but because of the way HE ANSWERED THESE PARTICULAR QUESTIONS. The only way Israel could stop being a state is through a genocide. Israel's treatment of Palestinians is seen by mainstream (people -- not media and not sheeple) as overly harsh, but necessary for survival. He was asked about his PERSONAL POSITION -- not his policy committment. And he said that Israel was an artifical state. Again, there has to be a clarification. He needs to make a statement that (if he truly believes it) he personally believes that Israel has the RIGHT to defend itself, but he doesn't think US should be doing it for them. As it stands he cast shadow on Israel's right to defend itself. He said that Israel can manage it on their own militarily. But he stated an opinion that is too close to "they have no right to do it.". Now, I know this comment will raise the ire of all the "anti-Zionist" people. But! I don't think that is Dr. Paul's view. Again, the mainstream (people -- not media and not sheeple) views destruction of Israel as an act of genocide. He needs to say that he would prefer that it didn't happen personally, but he wouldn't committ American lives or money to it. If he doesn't, this is the end. He won't be seen as neutral anymore. He'll be seen as taking a side. And a generally unpopular side. Make no mistake this hit piece was effective. I new Dr. Paul was going to skyrocket after the first exchange with Giuliani. I knew it would strike a nerve. And I can see that this will, too.

How typical for an interviewer to inject his opinion into an interview. Where have our journalists gone??? Fox news is not alone in their propaganda campaign on the American people. This is a perfect example of the new "Rupert Murdock"method of "reporting news." Shame on you Newsweek!

This is what America is about. As a young student I have studied about of the candidates running for this 2008 election, many of them seems to be unsure what they really want to change. Ron Paul is the only one that seems to make sense, plus he emphasize the same views he had in his 1988 election.
