Comment: I see !!! The u.s. of a. did the right thing (disclosed that iran discontinued its nuke program; for fear that the information would be leaked anyway. Makes me soooo dam proud. Brings a patriotic tear to me eye, I tell ya.

Then, we are told that the embargo of $$$, medical supplies, food and so on (euphemistically called sanctions) was the main reason that iran stopped its program. Excuse me if I am a tad skeptical, but bull butter !!!! When (and if) the true is EVER told, iran stopped its program because it wasn't feasible for THEM, at that time.

And to compound the injustices of that soveriegn nation by the good ole u.s. of a. -- provocative 'demands' about 'full disclosure' and continued inflammatory rhetoric streams from the white house. Nor, does the administration have the 'confidence' needed to begin talks with that nation.

As the man said: decadence is when the masses accept futility and absurdity as the norm. I'd say we've reached that point. Bill S. Missouri

Comment: You know, maybe Iran does not have to make it's own nukes. Seems they are pretty tight with Russia. The sudden end to an aggressive nuclear development program? Hummm. Hypothetically speaking, if the US had knowledge of a nuclear transaction would we publically declare it only to be scoffed at by the those who seek igorance. Maybe Iran knows what its talking about when they say Isreal will be wiped off the face of the map. Don't let the news of "no evidence" vindicate Iran. Judge with your ears and eyes. Why is Syria suddenly going so hush hush. Look at story about MySpace being shut down. Could it be they are worried abourt loose lips?

Untill crist cam Israel was doing the same to them. The diffrence is Israel stoped the arabs dident. The middle east attacked israel with the entent to kill everyone. That backfired. Let the murderers be glad to have there lifes. God was right in telling the israels to kill them all. This was Israels fault 2500 years ago.The peace acord will be signed it is ritten in the bible.

Comment: Now I'm no scholar, but this is overly simplistic even to me. If I recollect, Isreal was conquered in like the 700s BCE by the Assyrians, then the region fell to Babylon, then Persia. Then the Greek empire had ago, and then like a whole bunch of powers right after Alexander's death. Did I miss anyone major? Finally the Romans - who I wouldn't call "Arab," but who did thoroughly crush Jewish resistance on a couple of occasions and renamed the place Palastine in annoyance, getting rid of the names Judea and Jerusalem altogether. And there things would still be if not for freaky Christian zionists like you. Those A-rabs thank you, I'm sure.

Comment: My comments are not meant to scare anyone, there purpose is too provide AWARENESS. We must not be scared but vigilient. We have to pay attention to what going on in the world so we can prevent disasters. Unfortuantely, there are people in this world who only know how to criticize; they cannot offer any solution. Let's take the Israeli/Palestinian conflict. There are factions on both side that never want peace. People on those country have to want peace. There has to be committees made up of common people on both sides and they have to demand their governments work out a pece negotitation. Our allies have to be strong and the world must demand that these two side come to some sort of agreement for the better good. We do not need to get in ZIonism and all this we need solutions. We need to make peace a popular choice, not some complicated plan that divides peopole. One two parties have been fighting for thousands of years then we must accept that peace won't come easy and that both sides must give up something. There is no way one side can get completely what the want. The next President must be able to put pressure on both sides and the international community to solve this problem These problems are all interrelated. My comments are meant to move the argument to a solutions discussion. Every criticism I read today I have read before it is nothing new or enlightening.

Comment: Well eddie, at least we agree about the Patriot Act. The truth is that Americans are now and always have been far more paranoid about our own government than we will ever be about some foreign "terrorists". Do me a fovor and define terrorist, would you?

As for critisizing Israel, well, it's hard not to. I take it you still haven't studied yet have you? We just get lumped in with them because of our blind support for them in their illegal actions. Have you looked up Zionism yet? Ever wonder why the Christian organizations in Palestine support the Arabs and not the Israeli's? I can tell you it's because Israel is doing it to them as well as the Arabs. Basically, if you aren'y Jewish and you live on land they want, well, you get the picture.

We have a lot of guilt in this country about how the Nazi's treated the Jewish people but that doesn't give Israel the right to act like Nazi's themselves. You do know what lebensraum means, don't you. A perfect definition for Israel's actions since their founding.

Comment: "No one can PROTECT US" Too BAD. WHat kind of statement is that, you need to go live in The Middle East you do not belong in this country. It is the terrorist that need protection now. There only option is suicide. Only people who want to committ suicide would be dumb enough to join a terrorist movement. Once again people are scared to with these twisted organizations because they fear America. WE are the good guys but we are not your mother. We cannot spoon feed your people. You have to feed your own people. We can help you get rid of your evil regimes so your people can get decent jobs, buy a pair of shoes and some food. I would donate can goods to these countries but the people getting the donations are the terrorist and selfish regimes. Why are you not criticizning the government of the Middle East why are you criticizing the one country that can help you achieve salvation here own earth. Your people are starving and their you are committing suicide in the Name of God. You need to go to the Middle East and help your people. While you stuff yourself full of American TURKEY, your people are starving. And the only thing you can do is criticize AMerica and Israel. Just like Middle-Eastern governments. I like the point you made about civil liberties. Securtiy measures taken here at home do infact have the potential to threaten our civil liberties. ie. Patriot Act. This is a legitimate concern and an issue I have been monitoring closely. It is very important who we elect ot office. New security laws allow the government to infiltrate dangerous organizations however if this power is abused, civil liberties would be in jeopardy.

Comment: "what about the problems I mentioned face America. You want to Camaflouge the real problem."

What real problems face us? If it's terrorist threats and Iranian defiance, TOO BAD. You can't punish people for crimes they haven't committed, and when it comes to terrorists NOBODY can protect us from people willing to give their life to make a statement. I personally think that demands that we allow intelligence agencies to violate our basic freedoms to "protect us" are fundamentally flawed.

"Any society that would give up a little liberty to gain a little security will deserve neither and lose both." - Benjamin Franklin

"Their people are poor and starving, so they find an enemy like the United States or Israel and use religion to insight anger against us."

Even were this insulting statement true, wouldn't the "good guy" tactic be to address the root cause by providing relief and focusing on aiding their development, rather than blindly strongarming them into submission? The focus would have to be overwhelmingly positive on our end to inspire any trust in our interests there. As it stands, we're overseas for the simple goal of securing the oil resources that constitute the lifeblood of our economy.

"Religion is a tool to control the masses. "

Absolutely agree... I hope you realize the implications when you push your personal beliefs in public forums. You are practically begging people to view your outlook with disdain. I do not appreciate any attempt to use fear of imaginary consequences to cause me to cooperate with corruption.

Comment: This country was founded by pilgrims who came over on the May Flower. They were not Muslim, Buddhist or Hindu. They were Christians. Christianity helped to unite this country. It is not the only thing that this country was founded on however it was a very important entity in uniting the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. IN GOD WE TRUST. I am in the security field. And I am trying to get people to move from criticism to solution. We need to find solutions to problems but we cannot do that if people are in denial. Once again the break-away republics of Russia and the technological advancement of China are potential threats. We need a President who can manage these relationships so we can avoid using force, however some organizations and factions need to be forced. What is your solution. My Teddy name is BARBECUE.

  • Posted By: ghostdog @ 12/06/2007 12:40:48 PM

Comment: Someone is little bit misguided. First, if "In God We Trust" is true then we would need not lie in order to got o war. Second, if this was truly "our country" those who came before with a bible in one hand and a gun in the other would not have murdered, raped, and robbed the people who were already here. Third, again, if the Iranians or any other country want to have a country with the freedoms of the U.S. they have to fight for it, not us. This country can only do so much after that it's up to the people of that nation. We have our own problems with "big brother" watching us.

  • Posted By: eddiewhere @ 12/06/2007 12:24:20 PM

Comment: You go live in the Sudan then come back and tell me what you think. I am not critizing any religion. I am just asserting that people need to understand that we will not continue to have these threats over our shoulder. They have to be dealt with. Force is the last option. WE ARE THE GOOD GUYS; and we will attack if necessary. Christianty is a tolerant religion. America is a very tolerant country we allow people to disrespect our our founding religion in our own country. In America we have free will. We do not want people to be forced to adhere to anything we just want them to love their country like their forefathers before them. I can tell that all you care about is religion, what about the problems I mentioned face America. You want to Camaflouge the real problem. The strategy of Middle East countries is too divert attention from the real problem which is people are sick of being poor. Their people are poor and starving, so they find an enemy like the United States or Israel and use religion to insight anger against us. Religion is a tool to control the masses. Unfortunately, there is no seperation of church and state or mosque and state. So people leave their country come to America and then criticize us and our religion. IN GOD WE TRUST. I hope you can respect that.

Comment: By the way eddiewhere, what is the rest of what you just quoted about the "big stick"? The real expression is "Walk softly, but carry a big stick". Is everyone in the world supposed to fear us and be scared of us? Guess what, the rest of the world aren't cowards any more than we are. By all means, I'll be the first person to kill people who blow up civilians with bombs but are you planning on nuking every country that doesn't like us or disagrees with us or doesn't "toe the line".

Do you do this in your personal life or are you writing us from prison?

  • Posted By: jstepp590 @ 12/06/2007 12:08:01 PM

Comment: The question you need to ask is why doesn't Iran like us? Why did they take hostages after they kicked out the Shah of Iran? How did the Shah of Iran get in power in the first place? Why is it that Arab extremists lump us with Israel in their hate propaganda? Do you think it's a fluke? Do you think that we are blameless shining angels and that our political leaders never do anything wrong in our names and that they always tell us the truth? Do you think that Israel isn???t stealing land and that we are not covering for them while they do it? Do you believe that the U.N. doesn???t rank Israel #4 in human rights abuses and that the rest of the Middle Eastern countries don???t have so much animosity for us because of that? Do you not believe that Israel has the largest lobbying group in Washington and that it???s said that a politician cannot get elected president of this country without their ok? Have you ever looked up the definition of Zionism in the dictionary? How about ethnic cleansing? Don't be naive!

Do you think that Arabs are inhuman monsters bent on world domination and hate us just because we stand in their way? Don't get me wrong; I served my country in the military and love it as much or more than any of you here. It's just that I actually know something about history and while I'm a patriot, as I have already proven the hard way (which is more than most of you can say), I don't allow that patriotism to be manipulated by the powers that be to support their own agendas. When you can answer the questions I posed above you will start to have some idea of what the rest of the world already knows and that Americans are misled by. Have you ever even looked at maps of the Palestinian issue and the Apartheid Wall to determine for yourself what the issues are?

Use your brain and learn something instead of being told what to believe and then you will have some idea what the rest of the world and I are talking about. If you decide not to study the issues and learn from them to make your own decisions then you will always be easily confused and misled. The only difference between some of our leaders and the extremists their purport to fight is a different flavor of the same nuts.

Comment: The people living under fundamentalist regimes must fight for their own rights as the people in the U.S. did. The U.S. was not founded as a Christian nation. The people in power, the forefather's, were for the most part Christians, but they made sure that when they wrote the Bill of Right's that it would ensure a separation of Church and State because they too ran and fought against the Crown which was overwhelmingly run by religious fundamentalists; let us never forget the Crusades for if you was a Jew or any other religion you would have been tortured, had your tongue cut out or even beheaded. So let not Christians be so self-righteous. The U.S., although through lies and deceit caused the war with Iraq, it shook the foundations of the Middle East especially that of Iran, thus if the people feel that they want a regime change and want to get away from fundamentalist rule it is wholly their choice and their move to do what is necessary. It is up to them to sacrifice thier lives for their families, thier future, and their country. Whether right or wrong, our job is done. It is time to reconciliate with other countries and repair the damage caused by this regime, restore credibility with other nations, and together there can be a united effort toward a resolution concerning Iran and its nuclear program.

Comment: "It is important that certain countries understand that they face annihilation if they continue to threaten us"... "We are the good guys."

I hope you can appreciate the conflict in those statements. Good guys don't immediately jump to the most violent means possible.

"It is time people start respecting Christianity, the religion that this country was founded on. Citizens of any other country would not tolerate this blasphemy. They just locked an English lady up for naming her Teddy Muhamed."

Did you REALLY just criticize people for not adhering your religion as blasphemers, than criticize another religious group for religious intolerance? You sound just as dogmatic as any other lunatic zealot. And our country is NOT founded on any religion, other than a belief in freedom from oppressive thought just like this.

This reactionary nonsense makes my head spin. Get some perspective.

Comment: I like that quote. Unfortunately, some people know we have a big stick, but do not respect it. So sometimes you have to use it, if not they will continue with their madness. Iran is just a little part of a much larger problem. China's technological advancement and Russia's volatile break-away republics pose a serious threat to America. I am not trying demonize these people, I am just stating the facts. WE HAVE TO OBSERVE POTENTIAL THREATS AND keep them in check. We need a President who can successfully manage these relationships so we do not have to annihilate anyone. However, some people have to learn the hard way and force is the only thing that will keep them in check. Bin Laden is in check, now it is just a matter of finding him. By brut force we were able to scare Bin Laden and the Taliban organization. People are scared to have anything to do with that organization because they know the result, BARBEQUE.

  • Posted By: eddiewhere @ 12/06/2007 11:15:45 AM

Comment: Once again you have misunderstood my point. YOU ARE BLIND TO THE POTENTIAL THREATS AGAINST AMERICA. We have to elect a candidate that can deal with all the volatile relationships on that side of the world. America will not be caught off guard again and we will continue to confront the evil terrorists and their allies. It is not America killing you, it is you that is killing yourself. Why are you provoking the only SUPERPOWER ON EARTH. WE are not playing with you. It is important that certain countries understand that they face annihilation if they continue to threaten us with nuclear, biological and chemical weapons. Do not tell me this is fabricated. These peoople want to kill us and your solution is to pretend nothing is wrong and just let fundamentalism spread through the region. We are the good guys. We do not want a global Islamic State run by people who think their religion is be for all. I am tired of people criticizing the UNited States the Greatest Country on Earth. It is time people start respecting Christianity, the religion that this country was founded on. Citizens of any other country would not tolerate this blasphemy. They just locked an English lady up for naming her Teddy Muhamed. There is no way any human being would want to live under that kind of regime. Wake up and respect this beautiful country AMERICA.

Comment: I have said it before and will say it again (and again and again I am sure) this country was NOT founded on christianity!! Freedom of religion and no state supported religions form the bedrock that this country was founded on. Most of the Founding Fathers were not christians, certainly not like the christiand of today. A more intolerant lot is hard to find outside of the Middle East but we deal with them every day. Religion has become a litmus test for the Presidency; if a candidate is not a "good christian" then he/she does not stand a chance of being elected in this day and age. I am tired of a mythical being in the sky having so much power in this country!! we are a great nation which has suffered some damage over the past seven years becasue we elected a man who thinks that god talks to him! Let's come back to rationality; if you want to believe that's fine, just keep it away from me!

  • Posted By: jstepp590 @ 12/06/2007 9:13:18 AM

Comment: Yeah! Now if we can get Israel to give up the West bank, all their prisoners, end their Zionist efforts and start treating the Palestinians like human beings maybe we will finally have peace in the middle east.

  • Posted By: tyler214 @ 12/06/2007 9:08:19 AM

Comment: The whole frame of these comments is insane. "Which country should we destroy next, before they can try to destroy us?" This is the attitude of a violent paranoid madman, not a rational being. Our country has the largest military force in the world, bases in over 100 other countries, and yet we are afraid, always afraid. The lives lost on 911 have been avenged 100 times over but in Iraq, which had nothing to do with that attack on our soil. How sad that our once proud country now resembles a lunatic, heavily armed and having killed already, and muttering about who he will kill next in deluded "self-defense".

  • Posted By: pjoe2 @ 12/06/2007 9:02:27 AM

Comment: After all the bluster about the international community meaning Israel and tha U.S. not allowing the Iranians to acquire nuclear weapons, threatening to blast their nuclear sites with bunkerbuster bombs, reminding how the Isralies were able to take out Iraq's nuclear sites, and sending our detroyers to the persian gulf to menace the Iranians, to do nothing would have made our threats to look hollow. But, since people with some sense like defense seratery Gates persuaded the boss that taking on Iran while still bogged down in Iraq and Afganistan would be an unmitigated disaster, they needed a face saving way out of not attacking Iran. Hence the disclosure. Joseph Puthenpurayil, Pittsburgh

The only facts permeating your "FABRICATED CRISIS" is your anti-Zionist, anti-western stances. What's more, your bias and ignorance smacks of Arabism, the worst kind of racism on earth today !!!.Have you ever heard about fee-speech?. This forum is not in your totalitarian Islamic states but in the west. Why stop Zionism?. Comment: Why should we believe the new and not the old NIE???.Remember how Iraqi exile opposition figures like Dr. Ahmad Salabi were able to dupe and mislead US intelligence???. Working on the premise that the new CIA is still the old CIA, it didn't take much imagination for Ahmadinejad to order his scientists to complain loudly about the "shut down" of the nuclear program(planting disinformation) and getting some top General(Ali Asgari) to stage a defection. Classical textbook disinformation campaign executed with shia precision. How Ahmadinejad must be dying of laughter isn't difficult to imagine!!!.
What are the assessement of Isreali, french and British intel?. How much of Iranian nuclear weapon secret did Asagari know? Nothing!!!.Where's Ali Asgari now?.Has he not been spirited back to Teheran to be executed to give more credibility to the lies he spread???.
Like Saddam, Ahmadinejad cannot keep his mouth shut.So why is he claiming victory now and vowing to continue.....continue what???.Do we really believe Iran with the second largest oil reserve in the world, needs to develop nuclear energy???.One must be a moron to believe that!!!.
I say now is give him the surprise of his life; a surprise, lightening air-strikes to take-out once and for all his nuclear capability!!!.The arguments that Iran will counter-attack by disrupting oil supplies and mount terrorist attacks in the West are all redundant because oil prices are at all time high and will continue climbing with or without a strike; and Iran now is terrorising the world both psychologically and physically as shown in Iraq, lebanon and the Gaza. What is new, nothing but the continuation of psychological and economic terror from Islamic Republic of Iran.Unless, we bring into play our greatest advantage, military machine, of which the Hayyatohs are scared to death of; we shall be inviting the envitable----a dirty bomb exploding in our midsts!!!.

Comment: Kindablue your comment are not correct. You need to understand that CHina and Russia are potential threats and if their arsernals which include nuclear, biological, chemical weapons along with plans detailing ttechnological attacks are shared with terrorist organizations then we are in trouuble. That is not demonizing the people ot these countries. It is merely stating the facts that government officials in these countries are exposed to massive corruption. Russia is not a stable country and they are rule by oligarchy. This is not a FABRICATED CRISIS; I guessed you missed the article on the three men last week, all from eastern european descent, who had weapons grade uranium. This Zionist crap has to stop. Communism collapsed in Russia; WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT KINDADUMB. I guessed they bowed down to westernization. You whole argument is KINDADUMB and please read what I say and do not invent. I beleve Teddy Roosevelt's "Speak softly but carry a big stick" could be even more relevant today than it was 100 years ago +/-. If the situation in Iran was so dire because of nukes that Dubya and his Axis of Stupidity (himself, Cheney and Rummy) needed to go to war, why did they pick on a 5th rate dictator in Iraq wher he thought there were WMD rather than taking on Iran or North Korea, where they "knew" there wer WMD? That question seems to be overlooked consistently. You imply that Iran stopped their nuke program in 2003 when we invaded Iraq, but why did we not go right to the roots of the problem and take on the big guys? Dubya and his ilk are no more than petulant schooly yard bullies who pick on those they think they can beat up. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED??!! Yeah, right.

Comment: Eddiewhere: Ukraine is not a "Muslim state;" it's about 90 percent Christian,.

The attempt to demonize Russians, Ukrainians, and other people of the Former Soviet Union comes from the same countries, organizations, and people who want us to bomb Iran -- namely Israel and its suppoters -- regardless of whether or not Iran has nuclear weapons or the ability to produce them. Without these elements this fabricated "crisis" (not to mention the very real one which we have wholly produced in Iraq) would not exist in the first place. These are the trajic facts that, to most Americans, remain obscured. To discover them we will need to make war with another one or more of Israel's -- ahem, excuse me, "our" enemies.

Sounds far-fetched? Conisder that Russia and China are the last countries to have yet to bow down at the alter of Zionist power, and the Russia and its people are the age-old enemies of Israel's primary constiuency -- the Jews.

WITHOUT RUSSIA IRAN WOULD HAVE NOTHING. Why can't the pubic see that the real threat are the break-away republics of Russia(most notably the 5 Muslim States in Central Asia and the Ukraine)crime families in Eastern Europe and the technological advancement of China. Iran, Pakistan, India, all countries in Africa have no means of deploying a successful nuclear attack. Let's take care of the nuclear, chemical and biological weapons that already exist not on those that do NOT EXIST. Once a new regime takes form they have to seperate church and state in a moderate fashion. We have to do this right, we cannot afford to go into Iran blind we have to do it intelligently through conduits of success. The fact are THAT RUSSIA AND CHINA ARE THE KEYS TO KEEPING THAT SIDE OF THE WORLD TAME. AfriCA is an enigma in that it there is not solution to there problems; I guess the global community is just hoping more die than live in Africa; and that the 1st world can continue their research projects. Comment: To scare the *** out of everyone, as it goes nicly with the Bin-Lauden-who tape, this week or last. so you vote for the GOP as they did vote Bush, the second time around, cause a Bin-who tape mysteriously appered, just before the election and he voted Bush, and Bush told of doom, if, and we ate it up, popping in our pants and all! Fear is the mind killer! now we are willing to bleed big time for a thought, and a maybe, and around 2012, if ,so we need to crap our pants now, and launch cause they wish to have 1/850th the American arsonel and 1/95th as strong as Israel, why do we not treat Israel as a threat!!! Because we need to bleed for the largest military in the region-why? FEAR FEAR FEAR eat it up its what they feed on FEAR without it the GOP does not exist!!

Comment: But the majority of Americans are indifferent towards the whole issue, thus it will make no difference whatsoever to the presidential campaign, American presidency and policies towards Iran. The people will still be manipulated and be lied by the president, and they will not give a damn. It will therefore be the same for who ever becomes the next president. He or she can do whatever, tell lies everyday and definitely will get away with it, all with the consent of the majority!

Comment: Many ignorant, few indifferent. I have no emnity to Persians. I went to school with them during the time before the revolution. This madness is a waste and wrong. I believe there will be change, and I hope for the good. I feel a revolution building here. One fo our Presidents warned about trying to fool all the people all the time. This has been done for too long. It is the innocent who suffer the worst.
