    Congratulations Miss Utah Spc. Stevens.
We males in the military always, all ways whatch out for our female commrad in arms and they do for us as well. That is a very incorrect statisic grandpa corey; I am deeply sorry if your child or grandchild had that experience. It will not happen on my watch if I have any way to prevent it. As a Command Sergeant Major I have had many Females in my units, outstanding Soldiers! There have been a few issues that I have had to deal with. There are a few men and women that don't get it yet. As for the femininity I appreciate women who are and act that way. I'm not too impressed by a women who thinks she has to act manly in a mans world. The US Army today is not just a mans world! I will be in Las Vegas to cheere you on, "All The Way" You GO Girl!!
I appluade All Soldiers for their contribution.

To the Poster Isis Skye: I ask a simple question, when you decide to frolic around a pool on a hot/muggy summers day don't YOU wear a swimsuit? I'm sure(when you do)the thought that your "parading" for the joy of all men does'nt even come to your mind, let alone feeling like a "cow at the 4H club". The Miss America pageant has come under fire a few times over the last 20(plus)years(and rightfully so)but as one who remembers during the late 60's/early 70's when the womans rights movement attempted to have ALL pageants BANNED I feel your opinion is as excessive as theirs were then and hold no merit. Whats "disgusting, frustrating and demeaning" is when people like YOU feel its within their rights to persuade others to adhere to YOUR opinions of what woman should look like, say or do in society. There are others in the world that happen to share your thoughts/views towards woman who reject those views and their called The Taliban. Maybe you would prefer to have the Miss America contestants treated in such a manner as the Taliban and no doubt to your delite but in THIS country we prefer to allow others to choose what paths they undertake regardless of their sexual gender. As for your desires to boycott companies or not watch the Miss America Pageants thats your "right" as a free American to watch what you please and not use whatever products you choose or not. Just keep those freedoms in mind while you make such choices and fully understand that in some parts of the world you as a woman would'nt be "allowed" to make such a simple decision and you have people like Sgt Jill Stevens/Miss Utah to thank for them. I'm positive that if you had the opportunity to share discussions with someone as Jill Stevens your attitude may slightly sway along with a less hardened heart.

Being a former female soldier myself in the U.S. Army, I am very proud of this young lady. She is a great example of what we would like to see more of in our world as it is today. She has spirit, a caring heart, true concern for the betterment of our world and spunk. I wish her all the best. You've got it in the bag and no one can touch you as far as I am
concerned. Good luck in not only the pageant but in life. You are a great example to many young girls and women and should be commended. SPC K. Liles

I spent 22 years on active duty in the Air Force and retired as an E7 Master Sergeant. In all that time, plus the three years with Lockheed afterwards, I never received anything but respect from my co-workers and supervisors, male and female. Where grandpa cory gets his distorted view of sexual role repression in the military is way beyond my understanding.

Nevermind the rampant sexism in the military. 1 in 3 female recruits will be raped while serving their country, by another countryman. Sexism is deeply embedded in military culture. Military life demands unquestioning obedience to superior officers who are overwhelmingly men, which reinforces time and time again the inferior place of women. Male soldiers are exposed to and become part of a way of life that constantly sexualizes and devalues women. It is an extreme, concentrated expression of the sexism underlying capitalist society generally.

For most women in the military, the torrent of sexual harassment starts in the academy. Female cadets are often treated with open hostility, enduring unwelcome sexual advances and repeated incidents of hazing. Some hazings are extreme and even life-threatening, including reports of women having their clothes set on fire.

It is a bout time people lake Jill can be a positive role model for young women. My daughtor is a Navy Petty Officer, presently deployed on the Harry S Truman (CVN 79) in the Med. headed for the Gulf. Like Jill, she is an articulate, sensitive smart young women who see it their duty to defend our country. We are all pulling for you. We all should be very proud of women like this.

I attended a year with Jill and she is amazing! It was her last year at SUU and she was working on implementing her platform! She was starting a SERT/CERT club to promote emergency preparedness. She is a down to earth person and greats you like an old friend at least that has been my experience. She isn't worried about what people think about her, but what memory she leaves with that individual person! If Jill can do this then anyone can. She is right about the pageant girls not being shallow, most of the pageant girls I have met are intelligent and worth getting to know. If Jill became Miss America I think it would change many people???s outlook on the pageant. It isn???t just a bunch of selfish and obsessed girls, most are pretty decent! You should get to know them personally before you judge them!

As a military wife, I think this is Amazing!!! I have the utmost respect and support for Jill and hope that she takes the crown. NO ONE deserves it more than someone who has fought to keep our country FREE!!!! Thank you for all that you do!! GO JILL!!!!
