I concur with the comments posted below. The word is "Attention" and it would be more appropriate to display a picture of Sgt. Jill Stevens with her current rank. Come on, Newsweek. You can do better than that.

    Congratulations, Sgt. Jill Stevens!

P.S. There is a better article posted in Soldier magazine.

About time someone else knows that it's NOT called "Ten-Hut"!! Thank you Soilderx20. Kind of funny that everyone in the military, hounds civilians for using "Ten-Hut". HAHAHA. Good story though.

Comment: I know Jill Stevens from the Aviation Unit in Utah. She is a wonderful person who really cares about others. She has a big heart and a kind nature about her. I am very proud of her. She will be awesome at the pageant. Watch out for GI Jill. I know that she will go far in life with the good morals she has as well as the kind nature about her. She doesn't need luck. Oh, by the way she runs a mean marathon too.

Great role model for all the young women out there contemplating where to go next after high school and college. I have great respect and admiration for all who serve in the military, especially the women!!

As a former WAC during Vietnam (I was never in combat), and as a proud mom of a soldier currently serving in Iraq, i am very proud of Jill! She sounds like a great representative for the military AND for young woman everywhere. You go, girl!

I too will actually turn on the pageant and be pulling for Ms. Stevens! As the daughter of a Viet Nam vet, I know how combat can affect your life, and I am so happy this has not dampened her spirit or her style! All I can say is, "You GO GIRL!"

Comment: I know Jill, and she is a fantastic soldier as well as a fantastic person. No one could represent Utah better than her. She has a good heart and a terrific smile. She is full of energy and cares about others especially those who don't have anything. She gives them a caring person. Oh, by the way she runs a mean marathon. You don't need luck Jill. Your just great

What is "Ten Hut?" We're not talking about football, here. It's "Attention." While I was in the Army, I heard many Drill Sergeants get on the trainees about that...not to mention the Cadre in PLDC.

Could you not have found a picture of her when she was actualy weaing Sergeant rank? It's just a little distracting to see her called a Sergeant while she's wearing SPC rank.

Aside from that, congrats to her. The only time I ever intended to watch the Miss America pageant was when a friend of my wife's was in it (Miss North Carolina, at the time), but I never got around to it. I'll likely not watch this year either. Still, however, I wish her the best.

I attended Southern Utah University with Jill Stevens and served with her as a Presidential Ambassador on campus. She is an amazing person and I am so happy for her success and the tremendous things she is doing! It goes to show the great power of one person. I applaud her in every way.

Interesting story. The uniformed experience Jill lives in will shape her views and approaches to life for a long time. A very good change from the standard material we often see on thiese young woman. It isInteresting to see the Army finaly supporting a personal effort. National Guard status may be part of the reson for that. Best wishes to her.

Go all the way, Jill! There are many beautiful women in the military service and I myself have often heard "what are you doing in the miltary when you should be a model?" I have served in Iraq and Afghanistan and admire your courage to represent the woman that you are once the uniform is replace by an evening gown.

By-the-way, it's not Ten Hut. Please refer to Headquarters Department of the Army: FM 3-21.5 Drill and Ceremonies....

What a wonderful role model for all the women out there! It's so refreshing to see a woman who is both intelligent and beautiful in the spotlight!

Good Story. Maybe the American people will see that there is more to Soldiers than what they see in the movies and read in the paper or even see on CNN(liberals). Good luck, from a fellow Soldier...

As a former female veteran, I applaud the treatment and support for Jill Stevens. The military has sure come a long way from 1978-1979 when we had to be 'just another guy'. For those of us women who love our country and are proud to serve, I for one salute her!

She's SO COOL! The story sounded familiar, and sure enough, she was at my college last year! I might actually pay attention to the Miss America pagent this year. Best of luck!
