There exist an influential force for evil & wicked which happens to be strong.
However! There is another force that is superior, better, and stronger.

"Let the physical powers and spirit of true love reign and conquer all."

I highly recommend to anyone, to pay a vist to these three websites.
    "They are:- www.poetry4charity.webs.com www.wix.com/givehelp/donate www.4wisdom.synthasite.com

Please! Spread the good word in what you have read & heard. All for love."

moreover, WHY would someone TRY to shoot themself in the BACK of the HEAD...with a 34 1/2 inch RIFLE? The media has NO RIGHT spinning webs about things where people were hurt, much less anything else. This is about media presence in governmental relations. We all know that gun control is tops on the Democratic list of "things to do". The media has NOTHING if they don't have government support. Therefore, they horse-trade. SENSATIONAL STORIES for guaranteed information. This "Mad-psycho-deranged-camouflage vest wearing, military hair cut having, savage, crazed gunman" (I can't think of any more catch phrases.) DID hurt people. Yet, 93 million LEGAL guns to LEGAL owners have harmed NOTHING. The media ALWAYS makes it about the GUN, and not the SICK JERK behind the trigger. Taking away guns is NOT the answer. Taking care of the sick, deranged, lunatic, savage....well, you get my point. Hopefully.

"93 million LEGAL guns to LEGAL owners have harmed NOTHING" ????? Just in my normal life where I don't watch much local or national new I can think of...oh, about 10 stories where some kid accidentally shot his sister, some kid accidentally shot his best friend, some kid accidentally shot himself, some man shot his nephew (thinking he was a robber)--all with LEGAL guns. Now those are just stories from Omaha in the last decade. Innocent people die ALL of the time from LEGAL guns. Guns are supposed to kill, right? Funny how all of those LEGAL owners just don't seem to be able to control THEIR OWN guns. Huh.

You are a foolish person...First those would be accidental shootings...Different from getting a gun and walking to a public place and cutting innocents down...I suppose the gun accidentaly jumped into the kids hand at Omaha, and accidentaly fired..the kid was only trying to stop the evil gun from firing. Thats just plain stupid to bring a point up about accidental shooting. I can think of several stories where someone used a knife to take down jets, a rock to beat someones head in...a rope to strangle with. no guns involved. Your theory isnt relavant to this story...He killed purposly and with intent plain and simple..p.s. the gun wasnt LEGALLY obtained by him.

As with some others, I wonder how many comments are stricken from being published because of comments critical to the media or the establishment or the Politically Correct way of thinking.

side with those who: 1. decrey the media attention to the criminals, making them (anti-) heros, and spreading the news of how to commit such a crime. If they want to have some heros, why not concentrate on those who ctch or kill such folks, or on the families who are rebuilding their lives after. 2. Hold that the guns are not the problem. It is the mentailty behind the guns, and that is where the preventative work needs to be done. 3. Reward those who capture or in necessity, kill those who attack socienty. Play them up, and reward them generously. They risk their lives to save others. They should be the media's heros, celebrted in picture and print. 4. Consider carefully the use of psyco-active drugs in schools as an easy method to supress disturbances, and what will happen when they are no longer administered when the child is out of school, having learned little in the drugged state about real life and solving problems and controlling emotions.

And one item NOT on the list is the spiritual aspects, since it is not politically correct in this country to believe in them and in the powers of good spiritual training. Yet we know, to our dismay, what BAD spiritual training, and waht the lack of any, leads to. Throw mud as you will, but look at what has happened as the good Spiritual training is wiped out in our country; and the things our ancestors found valuable are poo-poohed by modern leaders; we certainly have NOT improved, far as I can tell. In fact, we have gone from the ethics of Washington and Lincoln to those of Clinton and Bush!

I think we need to do serious thinking, and comparisons. And some changes of course and fixing of general problems. I am, however, minded of a cartoon, showing a bunch of tough guy, sprouting guns from every place, and a comment made to a visitor, tht it was a very peceful place, who would dare start a fight!! And I am minded of a Walt Kelly Pogo cartoon book, called "We have met the enemy, and He is Us". Too bad it is out of print.

rollin2sublime...No-one is ever ..... "just born bad"!.....Everyone is a product of their environment.
Apparently a nerve was struck..... Which part of my post most closely describes you....????
Or do you think you're immune? Better stock up on Humble Pie and Ritalin if that's the case!

    • Posted By: nawawimohamad @ 12/15/2007 11:32:24 PM

To 2SHEA. When you say that ......"Everyone is a product of their environment.", do you mean to say that the American environment is bad? If so, than everybody is responsible, which I don't think so, America is a free country and the majority are law abiding citizens. It is one's own choice unless one is forced to do so. Blame it on the killer. Those senseless killing spree are just part of the sacrifce (if not the ultimate) the people have to accept. You cannot have "freedom " (or the constitutional right) for free and cannot be taken for granted. There is a price for everything. This is the reality.

I am amazed to read about this Hawkins and how his friends are saying there were no signs of him capable of doing this and yet they said he threatened his Stepmother, he was drinking, doing drugs, had a felony, these are not typical teenage things. Also, a neighbor complained and the police did nothing!!! Their house was not in the district that the police dealt with. The foster Mother didn't seem to be to bright to see that he had a weapon and did nothing about it. She obviously doesn't have knowledge of guns to realize that it could be used since she thought it was an old weapon. I think the whole thing is pathetic. As far as the news being involved making him famous, all I could say is that he isn't here anymore to see that so I don''t really feel that this could have been his motivation. I think he was thinking from a very immature manner and who knows if he had drugs in him or alcohol which could really distort ones thinking. I definitely feel bad that there are children out there in this country that are being treated so badly and really need help. I am sure that he is not the only one out there with this troubled past and how many more are out there is a good question. Also, I would question how he ever purchased this weapon. I believe after Virginia Tech there was all kinds of legislation to prevent unstable people from purchasing weapons. Obviously they can still get their hands on them if they really want a weapon. No, I don't really believe that the media was the motivation for this.

  • Posted By: nawawimohamad @ 12/09/2007 10:45:54 PM

Yes, blame the killer. It is the person himself/herself who decides whether to pull the trigger or not, no one forced them to do it, it is their own choice.

  • Posted By: rollin2sublime @ 12/09/2007 8:50:22 PM

I don't believe guns, media, or parents create bad people. Sometimes people are just born bad. Stop blaming everyone one else and blame the killer!

Anti gun viewpoints are propagated by elitists with an agenda to strip us of our Constitutional rights. Mainstream media very seldom publishes stories of firearms being used by LAW ABIDING citizens to FIGHT crime. It's a mental struggle for "journalists" controlled by the corporate MSM to include anything positive about the lawful use of a so-called "assault" weapon. When a group of determined criminals are coming after you with murderous intent, a high capacity magazine in your military style rifle could save your life. Sean Taylor was probably wishing he had ANY kind of firearm in his hands when those thugs broke into his home. The outcome would have been a lot different. He didn't die until the next day from loss of blood due to a bullet wound in his leg that damaged a femoral artery. He still had time to fight back before he lost consciousness. Now, society is straddled with the burden of supporting their worthless carcasses in prison for the next several years.

I think Newsweek should stop blocking posts here which are critical of mass media. The truth is the media has more blood on its hands than the article's subject. By only reporting biased, anti-gun viewpoints, they help to keep people defenseless.

Change the way you report these killings and you will change our world.
Don't glamourize "cuckoos'" name or photo.
License law-abiding citizens and you will in someways change the "cuckoos'"
    mind about a shooting frenzy.

Robert Hawkins was a result of the misconception that Ritalin can cure "social problems". Schools are DEMANDING that parents with "overactive" children place them on psychotropic drugs for anything that the "system" can conceivably dream up. If an otherwise normal child exhibits behavior that doesn't conform to the "guidelines" set forth by the establishment, the parents are FORCED to comply under threat of fines or incarceration. The Federal Government is dumbing down and poisoning our children and until the parents take a stand and refuse to comply with the bureaucrats in Washington that insist on vaccinations containing toxic levels of brain killing mercury and mind numbing drugs like Ritalin and Paxel, the children are going to act just like Robert Hawkins did. This problem was never heard of until Big Pharma lobbied for "mandatory" school vaccinations and drugs willingly administered by lazy parents. Put the blame where it belongs. The monsters in our midst are the ones WE created through our own negligence, stupidity and irresponsible behavior.

An interesting note is on the same weekend that the tragedy in Omaha occurred, in Colorado Springs, one woman who was armed killed a home invader, a store owner who was armed killed an armed robber, and a woman being severely beaten killed her attacker because SHE was armed, My point is that Colorado Springs for over 6 years has issued concealed carry permits to LAW ABIDING CITIZENS, and as a result, more of the vermin who prey on the weak have been sent to their maker instead of victims who did not have the means to defend themselves. There are, have been, and always will be aberrations of the human species who decide to act out some terrible fantasy, and to say that we need to disarm the very people who will be victims is sheer lunacy. I know one truth, and that is had I or any others who are licensed to carry a firearm been in that Omaha mall things might have turned out differently--and before I hear the BS about how I might have been more of a problem, I'm ex-military, been in 3 wars, and the last thing I'm afraid of is some teen-age jerk with a semi-auto rifle!

Unfortuntely our culture no longer seems to differentiate between famous and infamous. I understand that the media needs to broadcast a news story, but these killers should not be referred to by name, nor should their photos be published unless they are at large and the police need help to find them. We should keep them as anonymous as possible.

I don't need to hear a sad history to know that someone who commits such an act is in great emotional pain, but I feel little other than anger for someone who decided that killing people was a good way to become famous.

I'm proud of Omaha for going back to Westroads today. (I live in Omaha.) We will mourn with the families who lost loved ones and pray for them and our city, but we will not live our lives in fear.

Unfortunately, these incidents will only increase until we treat the root of the problems. I think we have to instill real hope for young people. Active positive role models and the glorification of people who are engaged in positive activities. We also need to emphasize our awareness of mental illness. Not to mention teach teachers and communities to become more visible and active in the lives of young people. Increased visibility and interaction are ways to create networks of social interaction. When we are aware, active and glorify positive activities we will see a new generation. Too many generations have declared themselves lost or blank, may the next generation be the aware generation.

Over and over and over again. Until we disarm this country and change the mind set that permits and justifies assault rifles and ingnores the reality on the ground thousands more will die in this country every year. It is a crime committed by the NRA with the complicity of the Administration and Congress who know how the "game" is played. Maybe it is time to repeal the Second Amendment.

    • Posted By: Rickie @ 12/08/2007 6:49:20 PM

Right, we should disarm the country because that would stop criminals from killing people, get a grip. You may have never noticed but criminals by definition BREAK LAWS! So in reality what "disarming the country" would do is give armed(because they break laws) violent criminals unfettered access to prey on the disarmed LAWFUL populace. Call me crazy but that doesn't sound like a winning outcome...for the good guys anyway.

What "crime" exactly is it that the NRA is guilty of? Yes, unfortunately thousands of people die with firearms every year, virtually all as a result of criminal activity. Does that make the NRA guilty of a crime? Since many many more thousands of people die every year in automobile accidents does that mean that Chevrolet, Ford, Honda, etc are all guilty of some crime? Is the American Medical Association guilty of some crime for all the accidental deaths within the medical industry?

We need to move you to Isreal!

    • Posted By: collegediver @ 12/08/2007 11:31:27 AM

If you look into history and read reports on places that do not ban guns, but encourage concealed weapons, the research will show that criminals are less likely to start a shooting frenzy. If you disarm all of the people in the country, what defense will there be? Butter knives?

Why is it my views, critical of the media, won't post here? This is the second night I've tried. Are we running a filter???

The news media should stop making news out of these insane actions
