Polls don't win elections or determine nominees, but there is no question that Mike Huckabee has gone from an unknown to leading the polls in some early primary states. The reasons are clear, his stance on issues is mainstream and he is a very lkeable guy. He's done this without big money and without political or media support. He is for real because a lot oflks want a moral, smart and decent president.

Where's Ron Paul in your report and why don't you include him?

You know, the more the anti-paul loonies whine about us making a valid point, the more I realize just how scared they are. What's the matter? Scared your perks and tax breaks will be going bye bye? Its time all you dems and repubs got fiscally responsible and stopped spending money WE DONT HAVE. Someone has to make the hard choices. Suck it up Nancy and bite the bullet. If this country is to exist for very much longer, we better start the belt tightening now and stop putting our heads in the sand. Ron Paul is the one who can start us on the road to recovery. All your stupid party whining won't change the financial diaster that's headed our way.
Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. Do something different. Vote Ron Paul for change.

Each major network seems to have it's own special candidate it pays more attention to than others ... CBS/CNN has Hillary, MSNBC has Obama, FOX has Rudy. It's hard for a candidate such as Huckabee to get major exposure. Surprisingly, though, he is still rising in the polls. Apparently, the Internet and word fo mouth has a major influence on Huckabee's surge.

I think Iowa does not want the MSM candidates. Obama also leads in SC . This is going to be real wild. And I think people are just starting to pay attention.

LAGuy - There are only two options. 1) You work for an anti-Paul group or 2) You are misinformed. If it's #1, then you are in big trouble because the Ron Paul R[EVOL]UTION is much bigger than you think. If it's #2, then I encourage you to keep reading and researching and ask yourself who owns Newsweek and who owns them. Ron Paul got 8% in the polls ahead of McCain and within 2 point of Thompson and
    Giuliani.

    Huckabee: 39%
    Romney: 17%
    Thompson: 10%
    Giuliani: 9%
    Ron Paul's 8%.
    McCain: 6%

It is not just this article, I would over look that. It is a very commonplace to 'forget' him in favor of the candidates, whom they 'want' to cover. It is the responsibility of a large news corporation to give all the news. Furthermore, he is polling better than 5% nationwide and, I honestly believe it, he will be getting a lot of news coverage within the next month. A response to the last statement: I am, in fact. 3 other of my friends and I will be joining about 400 other students in Iowa this month to campaign for him (one of the friends is air force ROTC). Also, I do at least one event on my campus a month for it.

Huckabee seams to be a pretty honest and straight forward guy. I'm sure CNN or Newsweek will uncover some questions about his time as Arkansas governor. Then it will be blasted at neausuim by Wolf Blitzer as "Breaking New". As far as not mentioning Ron Paul , thats just sloppy or lazy reporting. Lets face it, the guy who wrote the article didn't do the polling. He just used the numbers given to him. Then he puts his spin on the info, and presto, an article that leads to a paycheck with leaving the office and having to do actual reporting.

The point which you can't seem to understand is that this "omission" doesn't make a hill of beans worth of difference. Paul is a nobody who is polling less than 5% nationally in the Republican polls. You'll also notice there is no mention of all of the other Republican candidates and on the Democrat side, only the top three are mentioned, leaving out Biden, Dodd, and the other munchkins. The purpose of news is to report the important news not every tiny little insignificant detail. The omission of a tiny detail is not some cover-up or a big "lie" as one of your fellow posters have called it. You Paul loonies scan every articel looking for some stupid slight like this and then post dozens of messages. I'd recommend you actually go out and try to get someone to vote for your unknown candidate.

Thank you. I really enjoyed your pettiness. Looking at the straight facts (Crazy Idea, I know?!?!) Ron Paul is doing better than McCain. Yet, he is not included into the article. I don't believe in any large coverup, I believe in fair reporting. Which this is not. It's even more petty than your comments.

I am sorry, I am not a loony. I am a 19-year girl. I don't own a tin-foil hat. Thank you, though, for sounding petty. However, when major news organizations deliberately omit a candidate, thats just plain unfair to the political process. Let all candidates be heard. Even if it is a loony who believes in crazy ideas like 'free trade' and 'no IRS'. Crazy ideas...

LOL. Looks like the Paul Loonies are out in force, posting the same message on here ad nauseum. What's the ir "conspiratorial"complaint this time around -- the articel mentions McCain and not Paul. BOO HOO. Both Paul and McCain are insignificant little specks in this campaign. Now go put that tin foil back under your hats and go find tomorrow's conspiracy -- maybe Paul got a flat tire on his car on the way to an event and it's all a CIA plot. Wow that's a good one.

Newsweek as the source for its own bias:

Ron Paul polled higher than McCain in this poll by 2 points. Why do you mention McCain, but fail to mention Ron Paul when he beat McCain in your own poll?

  • Posted By: aminorex @ 12/07/2007 6:39:36 PM

Liars. You know Ron Paul won the poll, but you omit him from the analysis.

  • Posted By: erox @ 12/07/2007 6:38:23 PM

President Huckabee??? C'mon, let's get serious here!

  • Posted By: ibelieve @ 12/07/2007 6:36:45 PM

    Mike Huckabee is AUTHENTIC!!!

We will be voting for Mike Huckabee!

  • Posted By: AdamT @ 12/07/2007 6:33:28 PM

Ron Paul gets 8% in your poll, yet you FAIL to even mention him, but mention McCain who is BELOW Ron Paul at 6%. Newsweek you are criminal liars full of anti-American bias. This HAS TO STOP!!

  • Posted By: Coincidence Theorist @ 12/07/2007 6:32:32 PM

So God is responsible for Huckabee's support, huh? I wonder, is this the same god who told him to lie about the Wayne Dummond case, then destroy evidence; the same god who told George Bush to bring about the murder of thousands of innocent Iraqis, destroy the Christian faith in Iraq, then lie about it all? Might this god of theirs be the father of all lies? I wonder.

And, why no mention of Ron Paul, despite his out-polling John McCain? Newsweek, your bias is showing.

  • Posted By: elMcbird @ 12/07/2007 6:27:52 PM

They probably didn't even mention Ron Paul's name in the poll, yet he still pulled in at 8%. Then they do a disservice to us all and not even include that in the article. Thanks a lot NewSpeak.
