On second thought, I just read TheAUricle's posting a few messages ago where he threatens the violent overthrow of the government if Paul loses. My God, you people really are crazy. Do you guys really support that? Please tell me he is just a crazy guy and not indicative of your cause.

We Liberals love Ron Paul but we're having to support Huckabee at this point. We want the weakest Republican candidate possible, which obviously would be Paul and Tancredo, but neither has a chance so Huckabee is next on the unwinnable list. Anyway, you Pail supporters keep raising money and do everything you can do to screw up the nomination. We Democrats love you guys and wish you all well.

Hillarious. A few days ago, every artilce blog linked to RealClearPolitics on the topic of Romney and Huckabee was filled with evangelical bigots ripping mormons; referring them to a cult. But once the media started accrediting Huckabee's success on religious bigotry, these evangelical bigots disappear. Why? Are they ashamed of themselves? Not likely. Its mostly likely because they realize how un-American and ignorant they look and they don't want to hurt their bigot crooked eyed corrupt candidate. Go check out the Tennessee Huckabee sight. An anti-mormon statement was the main feature Saturday morning. Huckabee can only redeem himself if he openly addresses this obvious problem. He needs to shame any of his supporters if they speak ill of another religion or harbor religious bigotry. If he doesn't, then he is ratifying the behavior. If he wins, then the bigots win. I for one will vote for the Democrat before I join with bigots and support Huckabee.

I would be curious (and I don't expect an answer as there isn't one) but why did you mention McCain at 6% but not Ron Paul at 8% as your own poll found? Why should I take anything Newsweek, MSNBC, NBC, or any of its affiliates have to say seriously if you can't even report the news fairly. Simply pitiful.

I think the sense that Ron Paul has so much support is a bit of a distortion. For example, look through the posts on this blog about Paul. All of them seem to have been posted by you using different logins within a few minutes of each other, and all say virtually the same thing.

Unfortunately, someone with 10 seperate personalities only gets one vote.

Gee, theold 'Spambot' argument... Th only ones who still believe THAT one are theKool-Aid drinking sheeple that would believe the sky was orange if were in a White House press release, or else someone who still thinks the 'intermenet tubes' can be gamed and foil a multibilllion-dollar company's firewall and security software.

Ron Pau's support is real,. It shows up a massive crowds on the campaign trail, in dollar and individual campaign contributions, in straw poll after straw poll (even the ones Romney tries to buy off!), in meet-up groups that translate internet support into real boots on the ground and in opinion page after opinion page in localnewspapers around the country. Nobody is buying your wolf tickets anymore, so try selling them to people wth no criticalthinking skills.

The poll numbers show Ron Paul ahead of John McCain and in a statistical tie with Fred Thompson and Rudy Giuliani, yet your article fails to even MENTION HIS NAME, let alone point out that Dr. Paul's support in even these biased, directed polls has DOUbled over just the last month. The continued marginalization and ignoring of the Ron Paul campaign only serves to reinforce the strong and growing opinion that NEWSWEEK, like much of the media, has a bias against any candidate that is not in lockstep with the party leadership and the big-money interests that ar threatened by Ron Paul's policies, which would cut into their obscenely lucrative government defense contracts and lobbyist-fed corporate-welfare gravy train.

At least Newseek used to try and hide their bias against Ron Paul- now it appears they just don't care if it is so obvious that they lose credibility with their subscribers and the American public.

you just keep ignoring Ron Paul's existence--and when you get to them pearly gates you can explain yourselves to Saint Peter--when you rob Paul you end up paying Peter!!!

djoness I was making fun of the millions of postings by the Paul loonies crying about him being left out. Their robotic messages are all over these postings.

If you will notice "OTHER" is Ron Paul and they know this. When you answer "other" they then remove you or your telephone number so they can narrow the field to just the five candidates "they" have chosen to poll. This is outrageous and has to be seen or heard around the world.

The ''surge' is a TOTAL media creation. THE EMPEROR HAS NO CLOTHES, NO MONEY, and NO SUPPORT!

What I can't believe is that ANYONE is buying this crap anymore. Can you people not see that WE ARE ALL being manipulated for someone elses benefit?

The major media is nothing more than a PROPAGANDA MACHINE

I'm no young kid. I'm 56 and I thought I knew how all this worked. WRONG!
Our Gov''t is corrupt from the inside out and MUST be changed soon, HOPEFULLY by legal, peaceful means.
      The alternative ain't pretty, folks.

Ron Paul is THE ONLY PRESIDENTAL CANDIDATE, who is untouched by corruption, big business, or special interest lobbyists. For Christ's Sake, he's even TURNED DOWN his LUCRATIVE CONGRESSIONAL PENSION to save THE PEOPLE money!

I'm PROUD to stand with the YOUTH OF AMERICA, who have taken off the blinders, and are unafraid to face and deal with the TRUTH. I'll tell you this. They are FEARLESS, TIRELESS, and MOTIVATED! Calling them 'loonies' 'tin-foil hatters' and other derogatory names, just makes them (and ME) MORE DETERMINED

The major media is playing a dangerous game by trying to bury Ron Paul. He's way BIGGER than any of them, (and some here) will admit.
Aren't you folks CURIOUS as to WHY this great 'Cinderella' story is being slammed or ignored?

WAKE UP AMERICA!.....go ahead, TAKE THE RED PILL.

This issue isn't Mormonism. The issue is Romney's record. Go to massresistance.org to read a 20plus page report of newspaper quotes, etc.. on Romney's record. Romney says alot of things that sound so good, but his record is completely the opposite. Just his record on judges alone, appointing only 9 GOP, 13 independents, and 14 Democrats to the bench,(including 2 same-sex marriage activists) should disqualify him . If we want liberal activist Democratic judges, Clinton, Obama, or Edwards can do that for us.

There is a lot of negative talk about Mike Huckabee; about his "raising taxes" and being friendly to illegal immigrants, and his propensity to commute prison sentences.
Why would someone with these "liberal" qualities, then, be such a rising Republican star? Someone who may just win the nomination?
Well, I believe it is because he doesn't necessarily run from these positions. He embraces them, and takes accountability for them.
He did raise sales taxes, but cut income taxes. (And his Fair Tax proposal is extremely popular)
He does believe in benevolence for illegals, but does know how important it is to limit their entry.
He does deserve scrutiny for being soft on criminals, especially Dumond, who went on to kill again.

He is on the rise because he takes the party in a softer direction. He has a hard line on his beliefs, but is, indeed, a true "compassionate conservative".

Implementing his fair tax is vital to the financial well being of this country. He would also greatly reduce health care costs by moving health care to a more preventative role. He would maintain a strong military stand, while having a bit more of an open mind toward diplomacy and other non-agressive solutions in the middle east. Much like Barak Obama, he is anti-Washington. If you look at the 16% approval of Congress, this is what the electorate wants.

Keep it up Huck! Stay true, and God Bless America.

He wants to teach creationism in our schools!

    • Posted By: musicnut79 @ 12/07/2007 11:59:33 PM

He has said time and time again that he wanted to have creationism and evolution . Do some research before you make a false remark!

      • Posted By: rajkumar @ 12/08/2007 12:49:18 AM

why creationism? No other country teaches that in Science classes. He is using religion to get into power.
Religion is regarded by the common people as true, by the wise as false, and by the rulers as useful. which category do you belong to?

        • Posted By: musicnut79 @ 12/08/2007 7:03:09 PM

Isn't evolution just as religious as creationism? The system of evolution is, in its definition, a belief system. So what is so wrong with being taught both views, and letting the students decide what is right or wrong?

  • Posted By: 10Tuck14 @ 12/08/2007 1:59:51 AM

All of these prejudices and premonitions about a republican's religion, as if his church were on the election plate and not himself is absurd! If it's Romney's religion people have a problem with, get over it! All his faith has done is build his character, and people should be looking at who he is, not his religion, to see what kind of president he would be! Is Romney honest in his dealings, does he carry the experienced resume, understanding, solutions, and dedication that it takes to confront the more important, ever prominent problems that our country continually faces? Huckabee hasn???t risen in polls by anything intelligent or noteworthy, he???s merely riding off the glory wave of anti-mormon, prejudiced, or ignorant groups who wage religious wars, believing themselves more Christian for calling someone else less so.

Huckabee is a very good politician and a great speaker. I'm close to adding him to my A list for a ossible vote. But there is one thing I cannot get past. Maybe one of his supporters here can help me with this... How can a Baptist minister be pro-war? At his site he states that "withrawing from Iraq would create horrific humanitarian consequences for the Iraqis." What about the 800,000+ Iraqi civilians we've killed so far? Wouldn't he consider that horrific? Or is there some way a minister can rationalize that and condone, no "promise" more of the same for an undifined number of years going forward.

Ever since I first heard the Huckster speak, I knew it was him all the way. While others were exploiting their money or name recognition, he was trudging uphill, systematically making believers of all that heard him along the way. Now that he is at the top, no mad slinging will faze him, because in him, the evangelicals, the voting core of the GOP, have found their long sought after candidate.

    ******************************
As Huckabee justly gets much needed airtime from the media that had written him off as a tier 3 candidate, he reaches all the corners of the nation and not even under rated leftwing liberal blogs passing themselves off as mainstream news media, who are bend on discrediting him will slow his momentum. The Huckster is on a roll and will firmly secure the Oval office for the GOP if all goes well according to script; if billary wins the nomination. However, an Obama-Biden ticket might give him a run for his money.

How come canidate Alan Keyes is always left out of the debates? Is it because Keyes is an Afro-american? Or is it because Keyes is the only true conservative running for Pres,? Or is because Keyes speaks the truth and the liberal news media can't handel the truth?
