RE: "Ron Paul Upset in Iowa"

Is Upset a verb or a noun?

  • Posted By: USMC1980 @ 12/08/2007 8:53:28 AM

My opinion of the intelligence of Iowans is rapidly diminishing, They know that Hillary Clinton is be far the most electable, and has the best chance of winning the White House...but they would rather support an inexperienced candidate, who is nice, but probably won't win the election....explain how this is a good way to elect a nominee. Iowans are apparently so self centered that they are going to help sabotage the person with the best chance of giving Dems back the WH, which indicates to me that they care far more about themselves then they do our country or our party. Thankfully, it won't matter much, becuase the SMART voters in NH, and SC, will ensure Hillary wins the nomination. Thank God we don't have to rely on Iowa to choose our president.

      To USMC1980
I don't know what part of the U.S. you're in but I can assume you're not in Iowa. I don't live in Iowa myself however I take offence to your comment. I'm sure that 75% of the Iowan folks have sat down with or shook hands with almost every nominee and made a objected decission of who they like.

Now you may not have a chane to sit down or shake the hand of you nominee and that's ok, but think of this, you have insulted the folks in Iowa that support HRC. So who are you calling stupid? Stupid!

Excluding Ron Paul from the story is inexcusable; he captured a substantial 8% of votes. End the censorship of Ron Paul.

  • Posted By: heart4wisdom @ 12/08/2007 9:56:02 AM

Newsweek....I am disgusted that purposely left Ron Paul's polling numbers out of the story. He is ahead of McCain and Thompson. The polls do not reflect all the independents, and crossover democrats, new voters and old Republicans that are fed up with Bush and all those that even resemble him...i.e. Huckabee.

We all will see where the TRUTH lies come January.....as for you Newsweek your headline will read "Where did the polls miss it?? Ron Paul Upset in Iowa".........

I am confused about Mike Huckabee???? He states that he is a Christian and is pro-life on the abortion issue. However, he supports the death penalty. Thou shall not kill means what exactly?? Save the unborn and murder the condemned??

  • Posted By: swanie @ 12/08/2007 9:45:00 AM

i saw Huckabee say on TV that the reason he is ahead is because Jesus and God are making it happen. And he believes the Earth was created in 6 day about 6,000 or so years ago.

Yea, sure, this religious bigot will win the Presidency. About the same time that pigs fly, but it won't happen in 6 days!

  • Posted By: gaelicheather @ 12/08/2007 9:31:44 AM

Why would your article not mention Ron Paul, who is at 8% in your new poll, above John McCain, who does rate mention? That does not merit any attention?

  • Posted By: bigc @ 12/08/2007 9:27:46 AM

HuckaBEE is flying and lifting the spirits of thjose folks like me who felt the other candidates were simply notnpresidential material,. Perhaps the big money boys will discover who makes the "honey" that is givi ng ordinary people the hopefulness that we expierienced under that former shining star Ronald Reagan.

  • Posted By: arizonajohnson @ 12/08/2007 9:26:01 AM

Huckabee will win Iowa if he can successfully distract everyone from his poor record by keeping the evangelicals focused on religious bigotry. Huckabee will continue to run his "The Christian Candidate" theme and Trust Huckabee will continue to push-poll the anti-mormon theme. The state papers will continue the anti-mormon stuff in the papers. The DuMond case, unethical handling of funds and assets as governor, and his non-conservative record will all be ignored. Once he's the nominee, the MSM and the Democratic candidate will pounce on him and Huckabee will lose worse than Dole ever dreamed of loosing. And the inner-mountain West, which always votes Republican, will swing Democrat because all the Mormons will be voting Democrat having been alienated by the bigot evangelicals.

Prior to a couple weeks ago I didn't know who Mike Huckabee was. However after watching the debate Mike seemed like the only credible candidate in the group. He answered directly without waffling. He seems to know where he's going and that's important if you ever plan on getting anywhere. He was'nt involved in mud slinging, radical behavior or people pleasing, Just common sense. I hope I have the opportunity to cast a vote his way

Here's some coverage of this article and poll (from www.lewrockwell.com/blog) that gives us a fuller story:

Paul Beats McCain in Iowa; MSNBC/Newsweek Censors Own Poll
Posted by Eric A. Garris at December 7, 2007 04:50 PM

The new MSNBC/Newsweek poll on Iowa puts Ron Paul at 8% of likely GOP caucus-goers, 2 points above McCain.

But both MSNBC and Newsweek, who commissioned the poll, have omitted Ron Paul from the analyses.

Newsweek's article on the poll analyzes it with regard to the top candidates, including McCain, but omits any mention of Ron Paul, who beats McCain in their own numbers.

Chris Matthews, who was the first to announce the results on MSNBC, displayed a chart:

    Huckabee: 39%
    Romney: 17%
    Thompson: 10%
    Giuliani: 9%
    McCain: 6%

and then proceeded to talk about those five candidates, never mentioning Ron Paul's 8%.

If Ron wins in Iowa, I wonder if they will leave his total off the results?

I watched the first republican debate and didn't even know who this Huckabee guy was, but I liked him a lot. I have grown to like him more the more I see and hear him. I think Huckabee is a straight shooter and a great candidate for the GOP. Glad he is doing so well and that many people seen and felt the same way I did.

I watched the first republican debate. I had no idea who this Huckabee guy was, but I liked him immediately. I have grown to like him more the more I see and hear his take on things. I believe Huckabee to be a straight shooter and a great candidate for the GOP.

Just a reminder to those who think Huckabee is their choice. He is a member of the CFR , will keep our troops in battle around the globe, believes in giving American rights to illegal aliens, and he believes in open borders. So if keeping the USA as our country is important to you------ better take a closer look and do your homework. Ron Paul is the ONLY choice is you want to live in the America founded by the creators of our constitution.

of course Huckabee is surging... look at the competition
Romney the king of kings when it comes to flip floppers
MaCain another flip flopper who can't remember what his position was yesterday
Guiliani total incopetence not to mention the scandals... people forget he was hated as mayor on 9/10 and has used 9/11 to make a fortune for himself
Thompson the great hope that wasn't... does this guy have a clue on anything
the list continues with more scandal, incompetence and divisive politics
So the great Huckabee has said his surge is ordained by his god... great just what we need another evilgelical in the white house
separation of church and state .... come on people make them keep their religion out of our politics

    • Posted By: THKB4UACT @ 12/08/2007 8:19:00 AM

If the worst thing you can say about any presidential candidate is that he believed in GOD, I would have to say this sounds like a very good deal!

  • Posted By: LAGuy @ 12/08/2007 1:13:34 AM

RON PAUL'S BOLD SURGE IN IOWA (OK MAYBE IT WASN'T QUITE A SURGE BUT ANYWAY...) IS BEING COVERED UP BY NESWEEK AND THE GOVERNMENT. ASTUTE OBSERVERS ARE SAYING PAUL IS REALLY WINNING IN IOWA, NEW HAMPSHIRE AND SOUTH CAROLINA, AND IS MORE THAN 10 POINTS AHEAD IN CALIFORNIA!!! WAKE UP PEOPLE AND RECOGNIZE THAT PAUL IS OUR NEW POLITICAL MESSIAH!!! LOOK AT ALL THE POSTINGS ON HERE BY THE SAME PEOPLE OVER AND OVER AGAIN SAYING EXACTLY THE SAME COOKIE CUTTER THING AND YOU WILL REALIZE THE STRENGTH OF OUR MOVEMENT. IF YOU ARE AN OLD PERSON WHO DEPENDS ON SOCIAL SECURITY, YOU ARE NOT WELCOME. HUNGRY CHILDREN WHO RELY ON PROGRAMS TO FEED THEIR GRUNGY LITTLE STARVING MOUTHS ARE ALSO NOT WELCOME. WOMEN WHO BELIEVE THAT THE GOVERNMENT HAS NO PLACE IN DECIDING YOUR REPRODUCTIVE RIGHTS, YOU CAN JUST GO AWAY. NO ONE CAN STOP US NOW. ARGHHHHHH!!! (OR WHATEVER IT WAS THAT DEAN SAID ON HIS WAY TO INSURMOUNTABLE VICTORY)

    • Posted By: wolfgane @ 12/08/2007 8:09:28 AM

What are you rambling about?! Ron Paul wants the states to take over these programs. what might be good in Texas might not be good for Florida. We need to stop all of this one size fits all mentality. Thats why our founding fathers gave most of the rights to the states and not the federal government!

  • Posted By: rbachone @ 12/08/2007 8:09:12 AM

yeah and folks said the same thing about the great king george... there was something aout him... was it all the lies? was it his arogance? was it his cowardice? Was it because he was rich and out of touch? or was it his ignorance?.... look were he brought us... not sying the dems are much better ... .we need to outlaw lobbyists and take the country back from the corporations before we are all destroyed...
it shouldn't matter what religion a candidate has but since king george let the right wingnuts totally hijack the gop I cannot find myself voting republican for ANY position

  • Posted By: lottoj @ 12/08/2007 12:27:20 AM

To the one or two geniuses who keep creating new profiles and posting the same message over and over again about Ron Paul, you can stop now. You are not fooling anybody. There is no broad support for him. It's pathetic that you even need to do that. If he's as great as you think he is, he shouldn't need you pretending you're ten different people.

    • Posted By: justsyknow @ 12/08/2007 12:52:58 AM

      dear lottoj,

we will see how much "no broad support for him" there is on Dec. 16.

      sincerely,
      justsyknow
