Religion doesn't matter to me, I consider myself to be a realist , Romney could be an atheist or whatever as far as I am concerned, I just consider him to be just another smooth talking, arrogant, rich jerk, totally out of touch with America's problems and just looking for more prestige and power. I have sworn to never vote for a republican again but there is something about Huckabee that tells me he is a good man and he is in touch with the problems this country faces. If Hillary Clinton is the democratic nominee I will have no choice but to vote republican again no matter which republican candidate is chosen.

Personally I???m glad that we are aware of some of the presidential candidate???s beliefs (religious or otherwise), most of the time I feel like I have no idea what the candidate believes in or will stand up for. Take for instance H. Clinton???s answers regarding illegal immigrant???s driver???s licenses in NY, could she have waffled any harder. If you???re a candidate tell me exactly what you stand for and believe in so I know what I???m buying into exactly. So what if we don???t agree on everything, I have Senators and Representatives that I can elect to keep the President in check on specific issues, but let me pick the candidate based on authenticity. The president is an executive position, he/she is charged with leading the country not representing what the polls want.

Simply put the Captain of a ship decides where to go, he/she doesn???t ask the crew, they lead based on many factors and I for one want to know where this captain wants to go before I board the vessel.

Want a real discussion? Let's start with NOT closing our borders, but OPENING our borders! Let's encourage people to come here (other than tourists), make contributions, raise and educate families, produce products, services, ideas to re-generate the American dream machine. Those people who are here now are too set in their ways, too lethargic, too anti-innovation, too "old" and resistant to change, and too mono-lingual. This is the 21st century, the beginning edge of the 21st century; it is time for a re-birth of this nation. Open borders is one way to accomplish that re-ascension of the United States of America.
Of course, you may not really be interested in a genuine debate, after all.. Now, about the "fair tax," why should people who don't pay sales tax on food care? Actually, why should anyone care who doesn't pay the highest rate on the federal income tax? Too small a base to get anything done. Now if you want to eliminate taxes altogether.......well, maybe not. There are a lot of people who are dependent upon taxes for their livelihood, even those who don't pay taxes. Sounds like a no-starter to me. But the book was interesting. And it is certainly worth the debate.

Of course huckabee is surging look at the entire field of candidates... nothing but flip-floppers in Willard Romney and Macain then the total hacks and incompetence of Thompson and Guiliani what dregs to choose from so Huckabee is proclaiming that the surge is ordained by god... good so when he looses all then we can point at him and say god said NO
what this country doesn't need is another evilgelical in the white house or in any part of the government separation of church and state... come on keep your religion out of our politics

Noone really knew Huckabee in the beginning. I heard him speak one time and have been on his bandwagon since. Although, jlb, I would make Ron Paul my close second. Huckabee has a true down to earth, common sense approach to everything. He discusses what is really important and declines to talk about nonsense that should be handled at different levels of government. He doesnt give nonsense answers that politicians usually give just to appease everyone. Huckabee for President! By chance he loses, I would be happy to have Ron Paul.

Unfortunately, second place doesn't matter. Wish it did. Imagine if we got to vote on a graded system. First choice, second, choice, third, etc. Now that would be a true election reform.

The Huckster leads in the Shuckster State? We notice "Huckabee's folksy success on the stump. "He's filling a vacuum," and that's what we usually do with dirt, isn't it? It's called a Dirt Devil. The only thing I believe is true about the man is when he said Jesus was too smart to vote Republican. Can't get "A Face in the Crowd" out of my head when I see this picture of the Huckster. Didn't Dusty Rhodes play guitar?

I think that people need to make an effort to remember that we have a seperation of church and state in this country, and for good reason. I am a christian and believe that religion is important, but it has no place in politics. The leader of our country should be chosen based on their leadership ability, experience, ability to make positive change for our country, and their views and plans for the issues that our country is dealing with right now. OUR PRESIDENT SHOULD NOT BE CHOSEN BASED ON WHAT RELIGION THEY PRACTICE. I do not plan to vote for Romney either, but it has nothing to do with the fact that he is Mormon. I watched the CNN youtube republican debate not long ago and was dismayed to see that one of the questions posed to the candidates was if they believed in the Bible. If you want to ask a candidate about important ethical/value related isssues such as abortion or same-sex marriage that is fine, but it is important that we stick to the specific issues and not to what religion the candidate happens to be. Refusing to vote for a candidate based on his religion is no different than your boss refusing to give you a raise or promotion because you are not the same religion as him/her, and I think everyone would agree that is discrimination. In this country we pride ourselves on the fact that we do not practice religious persecution and discrimination, our founding fathers made sure of that, but that is exactly what we are doing by judging our candidates based on their religion instead of on the issues.

iron walker I agree with you. The only thing I know about Huckabee is that he thinks Romney isn't Christian. Huckabee: Why do you even care about that subject? It has already cost you winning the election. Mark my words Huckabee won't win Republican nomination. He can't even beat Hillary let alone a real candidate.

Sorry Hillary, you would be a good president. Unfortunately your trying to get bak into the whitehouse via a loophole in the law. You and your husband are by definiation a mutually exclusive team. You are not individuals. Constitutionally you should not be allowed to run for president. Perhaps if you had divorced him when he was caught with Monica, things would be different. Oh wait, Monica was just a distraction to keep the news from reporting on what was really going on, sorry I forgot. What did really go on during teh Clinton years. Daily bombing of another soveriegn nation and Consolidation of Corporate America taking the wealth from the many and giving it to the few. That's the Clinton legacy, and we can expect more of that if she returns to the White House. Go ahead and make me believe Bill wears the pants in that family, if you do you undermine your ability to be elected. If you don't you shouldn't be allowed to vote.

No more regimes in America. No more Bushes, no more Clintons, no more Keneedys. Enough is enough already.

Has even the cynical big media been fooled by a Huckster? Only MSNBC among the big national media has reported at any real length, there were lots of other mini-scandals and embarrassments along the way.. Why would NewsWeek want to be a party to electing this guy for? Have they lost all of their credibility to?

Mike Huckabee has gone from an unknown to leading in some early primary polls. There is a reason he has caught on without big money, name recognition, politicalsupport or media support. He has a message that rings true to many of us who want a moral, smart, decent president. AND you Ron Paul people are sounding more and more shrill as Hucabee climbs in the polls. You need to check out Neville Chamberlain who was prime minister of England on the late 1930's to see why some of us are wouldn't touch Ron Paul with a ten foot pole. I also think some very left wing folks are taking advantage of Paul's stance on foreign policy. That's not conservatism, it is isolationism and it will get us all killed.

I will not be so bold as to speak for all of my fellow RP brothers but I will state that the rise of MH has addressed many of RP's concerns. Tax code is the issue folks! BTW, isolationism and protectionism are quite different. Defend your liberty. www.teaparty07.com

As A Christian, I have to say I am sick of people talking about values, most just want an excuse to practice the do as I say not as I do! What would Jesus do? I think he would vote for Ron Paul! Jesus was loving and kind, when the woman caught in adultry was brougt before him he did not condem her when he died on the cross he said " Father forgive them for they no not what they do!"

I am happy to see that there are still some good American Citizens out tere who know integrity when they see it. Mike Huckabee will be a great president, and I feel that our nation is ready for a good positive change in leadership. The polls continue to tell the story, and Newsweek continues to do an excellent job.

Huckabee will be our best choice for president. I believe America is ready for a good president. That is why Mike Huckabee is likely to be our next president. I am not surprised that the polls are starting to reveal tthe heart of Americans who still believe in honesty and integrity. I am happy that NewsWeek continues to do an excellent job reporting the news, and the polls continue to show how things really are.

Lets face it folks, all us Ron Paul supporters must be nuts and wackos because we believe in something called the CONSTITUTION! You KNOW that piece of paper our founding fathers wrote that that everyone in Washington uses for toilet paper. As far as newsweek and the other news media outlets go they are all owned by some big bussinesses and therefore have their own agendas, and liberty is not one of them.
