The rest of the country is pretty middle-of-the-road despite what Karl Rove tried to engineer and I don't think Huckabee's "surge" is going to take him all the way to the White House. He is too far right for most folks. What he does have that Romney totally lacks is "authenticity." He is really who he claims to be. The guy is a gifted politician (and that's not a bad thing to be if you're trying to get the job of POTUS) and seems like a decent enough guy. Romney's desperation and Giuliani's corruption are catching up to them and may account of Huck's success. I wouldn't vote for any of 'em.

Yep, LightingRod, you bout got that right. Except that ones "religion" kinda gives some indacation of his/her mental state. Most of these so called Christians are just that, "so called".

  • Posted By: LightningRod @ 12/08/2007 2:21:21 AM

Anyone so stupid as to base their vote on the basis of a candidate's religion are only showing what morons they are and they should be neutered and prevented from voting. There are plenty of really important issues that need to be dealt with and one's religion is no qualifier for how they would handle the problems. Grow up folks!!!

  • Posted By: LightningRod @ 12/08/2007 2:16:53 AM

All this issue over religion is bogun. What is wrong with people who base their decision on who will run this country on the basis of religious affiliation? There are too many issues facing us and which require someone of ability regardless of their religion. People expressing concern over religion are showing what morons they are. The idea of these idiots even voting is the scary issue for me.

RON PAUL'S BOLD SURGE IN IOWA (OK MAYBE IT WASN'T QUITE A SURGE BUT ANYWAY...) IS BEING COVERED UP BY NEWSWEEK AND THE GOVERNMENT. ASTUTE OBSERVERS ARE SAYING PAUL IS REALLY WINNING IN IOWA, NEW HAMPSHIRE AND SOUTH CAROLINA, AND IS MORE THAN 70 POINTS AHEAD IN CALIFORNIA!!! WAKE UP PEOPLE AND RECOGNIZE THAT PAUL IS OUR NEW POLITICAL MESSIAH!!! LOOK AT ALL THE POSTINGS ON HERE BY THE SAME PEOPLE OVER AND OVER AGAIN SAYING EXACTLY THE SAME COOKIE CUTTER THING AND YOU WILL REALIZE THE STRENGTH OF OUR MOVEMENT. IF YOU AN OLD PERSON WHO DEPENDS ON SOCIAL SECURITY, YOU ARE NOT WELCOME. HUNGRY CHILDREN WHO RELY ON PROGRAMS TO FEED THEIR GRUNGY LITTLE STARVING MOUTHS ARE ALSO NOT WELCOME. WOMEN WHO BELIEVE THAT THE GOVERNMENT HAS NO PLACE IN DECIDING YOUR REPRODUCTIVE RIGHTS, YOU CAN JUST TAKE YOUR SLUTTY LITTLE BODIES AND GO AWAY. NO ONE CAN STOP US KNOW. ARGHHHHHH!!! (OR WHATEVER IT WAS THAT DEAN SAID ON HIS WAY TO INSURMOUNTABLE VICTORY)

You know, if you stop using all capital letters, I would be more likely to finish reading your post. That said, let's have some real debate about the issues rather than trying to paint supporters of a particular candidate under one general description. You seem upset that so many people would support this man. Let's talk about it, not scream at each other.

With the exception of Ron Paul (who is crazy in other scary ways) they (the Repugs) are all a bunch of dangerous, neo-fascist idiots. Going to lose the presidency, and suffer staggering defeats in the House and Senate. After the so called "Christians" voted in george bush, they deserve such a loss.

I'm curious as to what you consider Ron Paul's crazy platforms. I'm not trying to start a personal argument, I would just like to engage in reasoned debate about the issues. So my question is, where do you disagree with Dr, Paul?

All of these prejudices and premonitions about a republican's religion, as if his church were on the election plate and not himself is absurd! If it's Romney's religion people have a problem with, get over it! All his faith has done is build his character, and people should be looking at who he is, not his religion, to see what kind of president he would be! Is Romney honest in his dealings, does he carry the experienced resume, understanding, solutions, and dedication that it takes to confront the more important, ever prominent problems that our country continually faces? Huckabee hasn???t risen in polls by anything intelligent or noteworthy, he???s merely riding off the glory wave of anti-mormon, prejudiced, or ignorant groups who wage religious wars, believing themselves more Christian for calling someone else less so.

I also cannot believe the lack of balance in the media coverage of Ron Paul. Perhaps the greatest poll is the consistent state of denial in the mainstream media outlets with their consistent state of denial regarding Pauls' fundraising success and quickly growing base of supporters..AND the base of supporters crosses party lines, race and gender..Hes # 1 on the college campuses, in the military and among a large crossection of Americans are getting "FED up" with business as usual in this country's govt and media..Better rethink the polling data ..it may just come back and bite you in the rear emergency exit door!

Sorry about the double post (although I guess now it's a triple post).

  • Posted By: ewercr @ 12/08/2007 1:24:14 AM

Ron Paul's omission from the analysis of this poll is pitiful. The fact that a man who was once considered a "fringe" candidate now beats McCain, a political celebrity of sorts, in the Iowa polls is certainly worthy of mention. In addition, Ron Paul leads the entire field of Republican nominees this quarter at 10.7 million raised so far. Also, to those of you who claim that there is simply one person making multiple accounts to post in favor of Paul, you are sorely mistaken. Ron Paul has a large following of those who read the news with a critical eye.
