What's hapenning in Mexico is the result of lack of order and educacion. I'm Mexican and it relly saddens me the level of vilolence and lawleesness of this situation. Do not get me wrong, there's also so many people working very hard to improve their lives and the people surrounding them. However like we all know, it is a lot easier to destroy than it is building a secure and functional environment. I think the Mexican government needs to develop programs that focus more on education and civil responsabilities from early age. When kids are raised in environments that do'nt enforce rules they will grow up acustomed to low levels of acountability. The Mexican media, like everywhere else, will always be ready to propagate this type of news. Thus creating a atmosphere where every body will express their point of view as valid regardless of the source.

In no way shape or form is it the US fault was happens in your country. We have to police to world and police ourselves becuase other countries dont have the resources or the intelligence to do it themselves. Let me remind you that the middle east was killing innocent women and children, Saddam killed over 100,000 innocent Kurds. But I gues that isnt enough to stop someone like that. Do some research before you open your uneducated mouth. America is the protector of the world, anyone that thinks different are non-us citizens. If anyone has to blame another country its the us vs mexico. I blame Mexico for alot of problems we are facing in the US. Do me a favor and tell your family to pack their bags and move out of the US.

Are these violent drama queens taking over everywhere?

Who ever said those assassins who shoot up schools and shopping malls are sane? And what is your point -- that the killings in Mexico should not be criticized? I'm OK with that, if that's what you want.

Ultimately, the U.S. has to end its war on drug, and Mexico has to stop disarming its law-abiding citizens -- who obviously cannot depend upon Mexico's police for protection. (That's not a criticism; we Americans cannot depend upon our police to do the entire job, either.)

    Just a Post Script:
My boyfriend, a very intelligent individual living in Mexico, also commented on something. Although we sit here and criticize the crazy killings and violence in Mexico, he wonders how "such sane" people in the U. S. can go into a public place, beit a school filled with inocent children, a mall with happy shoppers, or a peaceful, religious community, and begin shooting. I can't seem to find the reasoning behind this either.

veryupset, ni le hagas casos. Individuals such as Damon44 are what make the rest of the world hate the U. S. Very disturbing that his specie continues to plague this country of ours (yes, OURS since I am a native of the U. S. AND have the luxury of having Mexican blood flowing through my veins).

As for the Mexican musiciians, very sad the negative attention it is receiving; exactly NOT what Mexico needs! Even more disturbing is that just like CamilaLopez posted, they are people and these people have spouses, children, and parents. May God give them strength to carry on. I don't listen to this type of music, but it doesn't matter. A human being is a human being.

Hmm...it just seems that anytime Mexico is in the news, there has to be negative comments from others. Take Carlos Slim...I'll leave it at that :) When others speak poorly of you, it is primarily due to envy/jealousy.

    Que Dios los bendiga.

    Damon 44.

Your comments are vile and racist. A person who writes like this is a complete disgrace to American society. Shame on you.

    Damon44,

Your comments are vile , racist and extremely cruel. YOUR thoughts are a disgrace to American society.

Very Upset, ni le hagas caso. Individuals like Damon44 are what make the rest of the world despise the U. S. We are not like Damon (and I say "we" because I also am a native of this country but have the luxury of carrying the Mexican blood in my veins).

Anyway, there is more to this story, but as Camila Lopez posted, these are people who have a spouses, children, parents. I don't listen to that type of music, but yes, I am upset that this type of negative attention is once again, plaguing such a beautiful country.

    Paz!

I would like to know what U.S police are doing to curb/ eliminate the flow of illegal weapons into Mexico and other countries.

Close the borders both directions to law breakers and this will stop. Law breakers kill people, not guns.

      • Posted By: Anon101 @ 12/09/2007 4:23:25 AM

Well yeah, "killing" a gun is a bit loony in the first place. A gun is an inanimate object.

Who cares about hip hop artists? Sing about drugs, gangs and violence; and who do you think will show up at your shows???

  • Posted By: SAxlerod @ 12/08/2007 7:19:32 PM

This trend of murdering is now on both sides of the border. Musicians are supposed to be free to create music. Yes, many do create songs that have to do with their surroundings as in Hip Hop. But murdering them? On the flipside, Newsweek, you should also do a story on murdered hip hop artists cut down before and during their prime. Here's a reference for you, go to this link: http://www.myspace.com/SAxlerod and view the music video tribute.

    Sincerely,
