While I appreciate the opportunity to learn more about Mike Hukabee and his views on various topics, it strikes me as odd that Newsweek would devote a large portion of the article to exploring all the potential "dark questions" in Huckabee's past. Yes, there may be a time and place to discuss these at some level but to devote the bulk of the material in the article, which from initial appearances was to introduce the man and summarize his views and thoughts on issues, seems misleading and somewhat biased from a journalistic standpoint. Please consider a more balanced approach towards writing about candidates in the future.

William Putnam "Bill" Bundy
Raised in Boston, Massachusetts he came from a family long involved in politics. His father, Harvey Hollister Bundy, was a diplomat who helped implement the Marshall Plan. Bill was raised in a highly accomplished, highly intellectual family. After attending the Groton School and Yale University (where he was one of the first presidents of the Yale Political Union), he entered Harvard Law School but left to join the Army Signal Corps during World War II. During this time he worked at Bletchley Park in Britain as part of the top secret ULTRA operation to break Nazi codes.
During the 1950s he worked as an analyst for the Central Intelligence Agency. During the Kennedy years he worked for the Secretary of the Navy and during much of the LBJ era was an Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific affairs. After resigning from the executive branch in 1969 he taught at MIT and then edited the influential journal of the Council on Foreign Relations (of which he was a member), Foreign Affairs, from 1972 to 1984, after declining the offer of the Council's chairman, David Rockefeller, to be the Council's president.
His brother, McGeorge Bundy, was also an integral part of the both the Kennedy and Johnson administrations. Bill was married to Mary Acheson, the daughter of Truman's Secretary of State Dean Acheson. Bill and Mary had three children, Michael, Christopher, and Carol.
Bill was somewhat to the left of his brother politically, and was a spirited opponent of Joseph McCarthy. He was also considered one of the administration's more dovish members on Vietnam.

I noticed you criticized Benson for supporting the JOHN BIRCH SOCIETY. BUT you never criticized him. Benson doctrine is what the MAJORITY of Mormons live by. I would like to see you go to your church and criticize Benson. As mentioned I back my statements up with facts. There are many reasons Mormons will not come forth even though they know of the corruption in the Mormon church. One is due to their belief in Mormon scripture which they associate with the Mormon church. The leadership has usurped power and authority over this scripture. Thus, the members of the Mormon church think that God expects them to support their misguided leaders. This is much the - rationalization that many Americans make about our government. They all know of the corruption, but rationalize that it is unpatriotic to talk against the government or ungrateful to complain when they enjoy superficial prosperity."

So does Huckabee think that God wants him to be president? Why else would he believe there's been "divine intervention". Anyone else frightened by the prospect of another president who thinks he's on a mission from God? That's more frightening than the prospect of a Mormon, who you can disagree with doctrinally, but all the Mormons I've known have been very circumspect about their religion, and almost seem overly cautious about not offending other's beliefs.
