Well, wether or not he believes in "Fairly" Tales or not is completely irrelevant to what should be one's primary focus. That last comment sounds like a high school student or a fresh college student who has let their impressionable minds be manipulated through liberal media. Let's focus on real issues and not do character attacks shall we?

Anyone supporting Huckabee has to be completely out of their mind. This guy is a CREATIONIST! Are we seriously considering once again putting the free world under the command of a guy who believes in Fairly Tales? We've had four years of that already. Haven't you had enough of this nonsense yet?

Mike Huckabee is my next president! I am a registered Democrat and I plan on changing that, before my states primary because of Mike Huckabee. He is hands down the best person for the job. Note: Why do those of you, that consider yourself liberal and proclaim a holistic view, react so narrow and closed-minded when it comes to Mike Huckabee? Are you perfect? When was the last time you stepped up to lead others?

I suggest the media should give some more attention to Gov. Huckabee's 8-years as Governor? It always amuses me the way Americans expend much energy and time or show much concern over issues of little impact and then they pay too little attention or show very little interest or concern over issues that have much impact on their lives.

  • Posted By: bhughmurray @ 12/20/2007 11:12:51 PM

I am beginning to think Gov. Huckabee is quite duplicitous. He states "I don't think it's appropriate for me to talk about somebody else's,..Our church is very different in that we don't ever focus on that." Yet he knows full well that the Baptist openly preach against the Mormon Church by teaching half truths about the Mormons. A recent web article on "The Slate" http://www.slate.com/id/2180391 by Neil J. Young reviews that for nearly the past 40 years, the Southern Baptist Convention has devoted considerable effort to teaching its members about the dangers of Mormonism.

hoopes: You say Huckabee is "one dimensional" because "if he isn't talking about his religion (or throwing in some quip from the Bible) then he is taking shot at the religious beliefs of Romney." Did you take a look at the questions being asked by this interviewer? Who brought them up? Did you take a look at the questions being asked by the reporter in the NYT article? He kept pressing Huckabee for a response to Romney and Mormonism. Huckabee is forced to answer questions that are asked repeatedly, and he is accused of "always talking about his religion" or "attacking Romney." This guy can't catch a break.

Awesome. This candidates' faith makes him MORE tolerant - not less. Got my vote.

Mitt Romney, Mike Huckabee and Rudy Giuliani are both BAD for Republicans -- or anyone else for that matter.

At the end of the 18th Century, America proclaimed its independence from the tax slavery of Britain, and codified our soverignty, self-rule and liberty, as citizens, in the Constitution and Bill of Rights. In 1913, the wealthy elite conspired with politicians to persuade an elitist president (a former president of Princeton University) to buy into a scheme to again make us slaves by signing the Federal Reserve and the Income Tax acts. The Fed would print money, at interest, and the income tax would ultimately be the vehicle to ensure its payment. It would be the bankers who would pat themselves on the back.

President Wilson would later say (3:42 into Russo film at http://snipurl.com/freedom2fascism ), "I am a most unhappy man. I have unwittingly ruined my country. A great industrial nation is now controlled by a system of credit. We are no longer a government of free opinion, no longer a government by conviction and the vote of the majority, but a government by the opinion and duress of a small group of dominant men."

And today many Americans are caught up in that "system of credit," much to bankers' delight, instead of working longer and harder hours. Why? Because of the increased tax bite that's taken from their paychecks.

Will Huckabee???s FairTax movement succeed in changing this "tax slave/victim psychology?" Do we, as individuals, have the ability to influence Congress to relinquish the power they've usurped from We, The People, freeholders engaged in free-enterprise?

Simply put, "If it's to be, the FairTax effort requires you and me." We must compel enactment of the FairTax, and its salient provision to pay for government the way America's working men and women are paid - when, and because, something is sold. In the present political environment, we can accomplish our quest by:

    ??? Becoming a recurring-donor member of FairTax.org ( http://snipr.com/becomeamember ),
??? Informing, and influencing, our family and friends on - and off - the Web.
??? Setting up an automatic, recurring donation to the only viable presidential candidates who **ardently** support the FairTax: Mike Huckabee (R - http://snipr.com/fthuckabeeonirs ). You can do so via credit card, or even set them up as a Payee under your bank or credit union Bill Pay service, as follows:

    Huckabee for President, Inc.

Or, simply donate at: http://snipr.com/dollars4huck and sign up to become a Huckabee Ranger - then put your personalized fundraising link in your email signature.

Let us bind together, with **decisive** action, to ensure April 15th just another pretty Spring day.

Mike Huckabee was regarded by fellow Republican governors as a compulsive tax increaser and spender. He increased the Arkansas tax burden by 47 percent, boosting the levies on gasoline and cigarettes. The Arkansas Leader.com editorialized that Mike Huckabee raised more taxes in 10 years in office than Bill Clinton did in his 12 years.

The Arkansas Ethics Commission held proceedings 20 times on the former governor. During his tenure, Huckabee accepted 314 gifts valued overall at more than $150,000, according to documents filed with the Arkansas secretary of state's office. (He accepted 187 gifts in his first three years as governor but was not required to report their value.)

Two months after taking office, Huckabee stunned the state by saying he questioned rapist Wayne DuMond's guilt and that it was his intention to free the rapist, DuMond murdered a women in Illinois after Huckabee set him free

Huckabee battled conservatives within his own party who were pushing for stricter state-level immigration measures, such as:.
    - proof of legal status when applying for state services that aren???t federally mandated
    - proof of citizenship when registering to vote
    - Huckabee failed in his effort to make children of illegal immigrants eligible for state-funded scholarships and in-state tuition to Arkansas colleges.
In a1992 :U.S. Senate race, Huck advocated quarantining AIDS patients, and cutting AIDS research.
Does Huckabee subscribe to his spiritual advisor Timothy LaHay???s views of the Rapture, United Nations, and a Palestinian state???? Huck???s use of the ???Christian Leader??? title and his attempt to denigrate Mitt Romney???s religion is a thinly-veiled attempt to impose a religious test in violation of Article Six of the Constitution.

Mike fails on so many levels as a true conservative.

The Huckster was the keynote speaker at an anti-Mormon conference in Salt Lake City. And he knows nothing about Mormons? And the "Christian Leader" doesn't want to release his sermons?

    The moniker "Huckster" is well-earned.

I think it is interesting that everyone is bringing up his "shot" at mormons but no one is really looking into that fact that it is true. Mormons do believe that Jesus and Satan are brothers and that God chose Jesus' plan over Satan's and Satan got mad and rebelled. It is basic Mormon doctrine.

    • Posted By: Travis6000 @ 12/13/2007 2:23:17 AM

      JSilly,

You're right that Mormon's (including myself) do - in a way - believe that. The point is that Huckabee knows mormon doctrine - and this doctrine in particular - will turn evangelical voters against Mitt on the basis of his religious beliefs rather than his political views or his competence. The "Jesus and Satan are brothers" line is a standard anti-mormon line. You will probably never hear it from a Mormon pulpit, but you will invariably find it in an anti-mormon tract. Its a fair question to ask in a religioius setting, but it is not a fair political tactic and I don't think its a healthy one for democracy.

Just to be clear on the religious doctrine, I believe that we are ALL children (lowercase) of God, and that as a fallen angel Lucifer was created as a spirit son (lowercase) of God. Also, although we are spirit children of God in the sense that we were created by him spiritually, we also become Sons and Daughters of God in a whole new sense when we are born again and adopted (through Jesus). I also believe Jesus is a spirit son of God, but Jesus (unlike anyone else) is also THE literal Son of God in the flesh, One with God, and a member of the Godhead. Jesus is God.

I think Huckabee has a very engaging manner about him. But, I think he is self-desctructing. George Bush is really "Huckabee LIGHT" in my opinion. That's not good at all. And I don't believe Huckabee has virtually any tolerance at all for other religious beliefs.

I've never voted Democrat for president, NEVER. But if it came down to Huckabee and Obama, I'd vote Obama. If it's Huckabee vs. Clinton (what a horrible scenario that would be) I may just not vote.
