a black person would never win anthing political unless someone was behind them and the only person who would support a black person is another black person. Since Oprah is in aposition to put him out there and guide people to vote in his favor then so what. It mush be white people only making comments here. Oprah lashed out on Rappers and their music (specifically Ludricus) and people complained shes against black people. People should do their research. You just mad Oprah is successful and black, and since she is her voice can be hurd and that bothers people like U that have no say. Good Job Oprah if it was not for you her wouldnt have a chance and we would have this War mungle family comtrolling and killing all of us. It's WAY deeper then racism here people, get educated then come make comments.

I'd like to ask the question..How has Hillary Clinton been tested, gained experience? As Bill Clinton's wife? Because she sat next to him at the dinner table? What is her experience negotiating with foreign countries? She visited them; was she Secretary of State? Please outline all this experience she's supposed to have.

Everyone is entitle to their own opinion. Nothing anyone does will satisfy everyone. When it is time to vote - it is up to you as to who you want to support for regardless of race, sex or religious. We need a change in this country because if it continues to proceed down the same path, we all will be in for a rude awaking. As far as the comments about Oprah - she has the right to support whoever she choses - just like you have the same rights. When Nov rolls around - her name will not be on the ballot. So, try to keep things in prospective - listen to the candidates and what they have to say. They will be the ones we vote for, not their endorsers.

Oprah is popular because of her ability to "be herself" with people. For something as serious as a person running for the highest office of the land, she was "playing" spokesman ~ not even a good Hollywood version. This was a time when she should have been "Oprah" not someone hoping for the Academy Award and we probably would have listened to what Obama was all about. I still don't know what the man stands for. Being of African descent, i will not vote for someone because he is of my culture. Show me something!

JGainesgo: Bull, she is out to get the black vote away from Hillary. Get the facts! ALl the polls show that Hillary has the black female vote in far greater numbers than Obama. That was her main purpose in, as she put it, "stepping out of her pew.

    • Posted By: LaGirl @ 12/10/2007 12:52:58 PM

Tony C you have really crossed the ignorant line. Who said that Hillary owned the BFV? Oh yeah political pundits. And stepping out of her pew; means to step out of a comfort zone and actually activate yourself toward a change. But you wouldn't know that because your so blind to bigotry and hate. I pray that at least once in your life before you leave this earth that you allow yourself that opportunity to experience life without hate in your heart. PEACE!!

Just because Hilary spent 8 years in the white house as First Lady, this does not mean she has eight years of experience to be president. I do not understand why the media does not pick up on this fact. Just because she knows the layout of the white house does not mean she will be a good president. One more thing, did we not have enough of "experience" with having George Bush and Cheney in the white house for eight years? Where did all that experience get us? I think it is time for a fresh start, fresh ideas and a new face. Vote Obama.

    • Posted By: yeaney544 @ 12/10/2007 12:52:57 PM

Comment: Do not foget that there are other presidential candidates who are doing well in the polls also, not jutst Hillary. You need to pay attention to them too.

rjstaggs...you're kind of an idiot. Hilary spending 8 years in the White House speaks VOLUMES to me because she's married to the smartest man that's ever been president, in my opinion. Bill Clinton did more for this country than anybody else did. He was a GREAT president! (And who cares what he did with Monica...I don't. One had nothing to do with the other.) Both Bill AND Hilary are very intelligent people that I want running this country, not some shmoo like Obama who really doesn't know anything about anything.

And just for the record, I don't want Obama to be president not because he's black. I don't care if he's purple. He doesn't belong in the White House yet. He needs a lot more experience first. THEN he might be a good presidential candidate. Just not now.

  • Posted By: Nene @ 12/10/2007 12:52:52 PM

I will not vote for either Hillary or Obama because I don't believe in the things they stand for. But when was Hillary The President of the USA? She has no more experience at being President than any other candidate. As a religious person you should not have to ask a person what they believe in you should be able to tell by their life, their family and in the candidates case their record in congress. If you can not see their faith in the way they act than their religious affiliation is unimportant.

well. i just think it is terrible that a obama needs to rely on oprah star power to get him into the white house... wake up america...... This is a presidential race ,,,, This should be about his qualifications... He hasnt' been doing very well ... and know he is doing better in the race because oprah supports him.....wake up.......

  • Posted By: electric @ 12/10/2007 12:49:13 PM

I could not or would not support anyone who will not put his hand over his heart and say The Pledge Of Allegiance. Nor do I like Oprah. Shame on her.

  • Posted By: newsworthy @ 12/10/2007 12:47:37 PM

0PRAH MAY HAVE USED HER STAR POWER , TO BOAST OBAMA . BUT WE MUST NOT LOOSE FOCUS. WE ARE VOTING FOR PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES. NOT A CAR OR A PRODUCT. THE MOST UNFAIR QUESTION FOR ANY CANDIDATE TO HAVE TO ANSWER, WHAT ARE THEY GOING THERE FIRST NINETY DAYS IN OFFICE? BECAUSE OF THE WAY, THIS COUNTRY HAS BEEN IN RUINS THESE LAST TWO TERMS. IT"S HARD TO CHOOSE WHAT TO DO FIRST. THANKS N. CUNNINHGAM

As I looked at the coverage of Obama and Oprah, I felt a sense that his wife did not have a pleasing gesture to the fact that Oprah is on the campaign trail. I think Obama needs to be careful how is shoulder Oprah over his wife doing this race. I think he may have made a mistake in given Oprah so much power in his election. To be honest people came to see Oprah not so much Obama

Classic internet forum argument. Are the words or passion of anything posted here going to make a difference? Take that frustration with the opposing view point on this board and direct it toward the real problem.
Most candidates won't help the PEOPLE of this country. Most of them are pinned by corporate entities. Big business with no brain, no heart, lots of money and lots of greed. The money and greed aren't changing the social or international problems we are faced with. Not to mention, we're broke. GE is not! (just the first example that comes to mind, it could be 1000 others.) This government is supposed to serve flesh and blood, not entities formed on paper with the work of lawyers.
The candidates merely say what they think a block of voters wants to hear, so how can Hilary's experience (or any other candidate for that matter) really be a reason to vote for her? Plenty of votes for experience over the last 50 years have got us into real trouble. Who cares whether Oprah has racist motives or not? Even if it mattered, none of us could be 100% sure of her true motives. What we need is some facts about the level of control our presidential AND congressional candidates are going to be controlled by big business. The people need to take back control of the country. Go ahead and feel sad, defeated and helpless. Having those feelings are counterintuitive, but the are the door we must pass through as a country to muster the resources to beat this beast. Now, off I go to work for one of them. Lament. But a solution can and will be had. We could speed things up with a mother-load of votes for some "under-the-radar" presidential and congressional candidates.

All of the points that you made are reasons to vote Obama. Take your passionate apathy and intellegence and look at what Obama stands for. Look at the potential that could be had by having a president like Obama in the White House. Take that and STAND FOR SOMETHING.

      • Posted By: yankeedant @ 12/10/2007 12:44:31 PM

Please supply facts. Please outline what accomplishments Obama has done that would make me want to vote for him.

    • Posted By: grief @ 12/10/2007 11:52:09 AM

By the way, I did not post any of the information above in support of another candidate...I have voted Republican my entire life, I'm currently VERY undecided. As you can see from my opinion of things, if it doesn't matter to me which party anymore as much as it matters how much evidence there is that the candidate will be motivated primarily to serve people first, far ahead of their service to a C-Corporation. That's all.

Out of all the comments below that I was able to even comprehend... I agree with Redfoxx27... I honestly cannot believe that we still ahve to deal with people who can only hear the "racial card" when someone other than a white person speaks... Personally I am a hispanic and voted for Clinton and think that Hillary would do great in office but Barack brings many thing to the table and one thing he brings is HONESTY... Something I cannot say about Hillary..A woman who refuses to verbally apologize to voters for her voting on this war regardless of the evidence that was presented to her at the time of her decission... Joe Biden did not vote what is her excuse... I pray that the people who comment here can find substantial things to disagree on or comment on other than race, your quality of information is so distorted and you are what is wrong with this country :(

This blog is so stupid. I can't believe I wasted my time reading such idiotic and ignorant posts. Some of you sound so stupid. We need to be praying for our troops over in Iraq fighting a senseless war.

  • Posted By: Leetutt @ 12/10/2007 12:11:18 PM

I agree with allwise - Obama is the most influental person running for president. The polls don't reflect the true support Obama has especially in the 18-25 yr age group. Being 25 myself - I know that all my friends both democrat and republican have decided to vote democratic in the primary to make sure Obama is elected to run for the democratic party. So please don't belive any of this nonsense bull$h*t that the media is feeding you. Vote Obama and free America from the "polotics of today"

    • Posted By: Italioni @ 12/10/2007 12:42:49 PM

Vote Obama in to "free American"???!?!!! Are you ignorant? He is already taking away the National Anth. by not giving respect on NATIONAL TELEVISION!!! If he does this in full view of everyone AND Oprah...what will he do behind closed doors? He is a muslim and should not even be allowed to run.

  • Posted By: Coollady @ 12/10/2007 10:59:55 AM

I am a big Oprah Winfrey fan, but she needs to stay out of the political arena because she's not smarter or dumber about that than the average person. So, as far as I'm concerned, Oprah needs to stick to things she understands, like doing her talk show and overseeing her magazine. Oprah, PLEASE STAY OUT OF POLITICS! IT IS NOT FOR YOU!!! You lost credibility with me because you are endorsing a black guy because you are black, not because he's the best candidate! Sometimes you don't think before you react (i.e., the James Frey incident - you clearly overreacted to that situation, and you are doing the same with this, too.) Oprah, you need to take your rightful place and go back to Chicago where you belong.

    • Posted By: fafolod @ 12/10/2007 11:04:02 AM

So, one who is black is not allowed to endorse blacks. Similarly, whites are not allowed to endorse whites. Where are we at now? Nowhere. Flawed logic.

      • Posted By: getreal54 @ 12/10/2007 11:28:54 AM

This is for Coollady..................your comments are very racist.......Oprah can endorse whoever she pleases because it's a free country. White people endorse white candidates all the time.....does that make them racist? Your comments are so ignorant and rediculous and they have absolutely no merit at all. Lots of white celeberties endorse white candidates and I don't see you calling them out. You should stop giving out advice or commenting on this board because you only make yourself look stupid.

getreal54...YOU NEED TO GET REAL!!! You're a complete idiot! Read more of my posts, you freak!

      • Posted By: Coollady @ 12/10/2007 11:34:15 AM

fafolod...I wouldn't have expected Oprah to endorse anybody else besides another black person. That's o.k. in and of itself, but I don't think Oprah is really "thinking" very well. Even if you don't know a single thing about politics, but you know about how Oprah thinks because you've watched her for the past 20 years, you'd know that Oprah is average intelligence. She certainly has a right to her opinions about who she wants to see as President, but she's got more "feeling" into her endorsement of Obama than she does actual "intelligence". Sorry, but that's how I feel about it.

      • Posted By: samyway @ 12/10/2007 11:31:23 AM

I believe Miss Winfrey should be on the stage, hers in Chicago, and as far as endorsing Obama it is pretty obvious that it is because of the color of his and her skin. Don't take it any further than that. When people start throwing in comments like the previous it is clear that they have an issue with the color of someones skin.

I have a problem reading bigoted statements like you folks have posted here. Neither Obama or Oprah are racists. They simply want equality among the races. But that's not even their campaign. Oprah supports Obama simply because she feels as if he's the right candidate. He's not, but Oprah believes he is. Regardless, if you plan on making ignorant comments, at least be coherent.

  • Posted By: sherbug @ 12/10/2007 12:40:40 PM

No Oprah is not a racist, she has always voted for a white candidate. This will be her first time voting for a black man. That doesn't sound racist to me.
