Have'nt we as Black people been down this road before? Hillary runs to a few black churches, quotes a spiritual, and takes your votes for granted. And not one person holds her accountable. Black people, stop being duped by opportunist White politicians with no substance.

I feel that your comment about white politicians is racist. I Also feel your comment about Hillary does not make sense. Hillary running to black churches and quoting a spiritual does not constitute crime. What wlll she be held accountable for? For visiting black churches and quoting a spiritual? I am an African American and I vote on the issues, not on Operah popularity and certainly not for black man just because I am a black person. I am not voting for Obama period.

I agree, Hillary's fake and does take your vote for granted. That being said, please remember that YOU do not have to vote Democrat, just because you're black.

    • Posted By: LaGirl @ 12/10/2007 12:24:56 PM

      She did and they came.

Is Opra a RACIST? The fact that she has never thrown her support behind any other Presidential candidate prior to this makes me wonder if its the color of Obamas skin is the reason she is doing this for the first time. I mean is Obamas political view so much different that any other Presidential candidate either past ot present that is is worthy of Opras mighty celeb support and influence over every housewife in America? or I am missing something
    here?

  • Posted By: student @ 12/09/2007 9:22:37 PM

How can Obama stop the racial divide if the only reason Oprah is voting for his is because he is black.

    • Posted By: mjkelly @ 12/10/2007 12:22:36 PM

Remember, OBAMA IS NOT ONLY BLACK!!!! HE WAS RAISED BY A WHITE MOTHER!!!!! He can relate to more people in this country than any other candidate. He's extremely intelligent and honest. Read he bio. Oprah is endorsing him like many others, because he can be trusted to fight for the people of America, and not Healtcare CEOs who are paying HRC to represent their interest.

Student, I recall hearing, while I was in the classroom, 'let's put on our listening ears.' Did you leave yours at home, or did you just miss the speech?

Obviously you didn't go to or watch any of the events this weekend. It's too bad as a nation we can't seem to get folks to move beyond race and simply judge people on their own merits. I suppose you must think that everyone who is endorsing Clinton is doing so because she's a woman. These kinds of statements really diminish the intelligence of folks who publicly endorse any candidate.

I saw an article where Obama would not cover his heart for the National Anthem. What was the reason for Obama not to cover his heart for the National Anthem of the country? It definetly takes patroitism to be the President of the United States of America.

I am greatly concerned that many are perhaps choosing whom to vote for to lead our great Nation based on which "celebrity" endorses or stands on stage in front of thousands. I would like to feel that we as individuals can still make our own decisions based on facts not "star status". If this is not the case then we as a Nation truly need help.

Why is oprah just now getting into politics because a man is black. I think she has really hurt her credibility if she ever had any. Money does not create charactor. She is displaying a blatant exhibition of hipocracy supporting the wrong candidate because of his color. It would be a GREAT mistake for america to put a man raised in a muslem background into our presidential office.

  • Posted By: speakout @ 12/10/2007 12:18:01 PM

Hillary will be the same president that her husband was. The first black president. You've got 2 be kidding me! Nothing but a scam artist that took Black votes for granted. Hillary will be more of the same. More lies, more scams, and more deception. Oh, and before I forget,no substance.

I have absolutely no problem with ANYONE, a celebrity included, supporting a presidential candidate. The problem I have is people voting for a candidate because of that endorsement and not because of what the candidate's actual political platform is. This election to too significant to be influenced by a celebrity standing on stage supporting him or her, the color of their skin, their gender or if they are republican or democrat; it's about what they stand for. What are they going to do for us as Americans? The candidate's actual political platform is what we should be focusing on. After all is said and done, they will be the ones running the country, the people that endorsed them will not be the ones making the decisions about war, taxes, etc. We will not be judged around the world by these "celebrities", but by our president and the decisions he or she makes on behalf of our country. That being said, do we really care what Oprah or any other celebrity thinks or says? I truly hope not!

  • Posted By: redinwast @ 12/10/2007 12:13:54 PM

Obama? I'd never vote for him in the first place. The sad fact is that I will never give Oprah another second of my time, no matter what good she does in the world. She should have used better judgement in endorsing any candidate.

  • Posted By: LadyDi @ 12/10/2007 12:03:14 PM

My skin color is white but I voted for a black Mayor twice. The first time was a big mistake. Milton Street seemed to have all the qualifications while running for office. Then elected he then referred to all the black community as brothers and sisters. Dirty politics started..
I think the only reason Oprah is endorsing Ohama is because he is black . She'll try to pursuade black voters not because he's the best candidate but because he's black. The media talks about whites being racist. My belief is that Oprah is very racist. I always enjoyed her show , but my feelings have changed. I guess I won't be voting for Mr. Obama.

    • Posted By: TeamO66 @ 12/10/2007 12:13:34 PM

      LadyDi,
Your comments suggest you have always had issues with race...it's part of your subconscious. To call Oprah a racist is kinda bizarre, really!!!

It is pathetic when a talking head like Oprah Winfrey has to tell women voters, especially Black women voeters how to VOTE! Just goes to show that so many people in this country are unable to THINK FOR THEMSELVES. I watched on several news programs this weekend how a number of differnt black women said that they were on the fence between casting their vote for the first woman president in history or for the first black president i history, but now that they had seen and heard Oprah they decided that if Obama was good enough for her then he was good enough for them. Pretty pathetic wouldn't you say?

Forget that Obama can't speak for himself, stand on his own record or experience, but has to have Oprah Winfrey come out and tell the blacks of America whom to vote for, and like good little puppet soldiers they fall into line and are ready to cast a vote for the candidate of HER choice.

Well, if Mr. Obama should win, which is doubtful, the one good thing to come out of having the first black man or woman to occupy the Oval office is that finally people like Al Shaprton, Jesse Jackson, and the rest of the black commuinity will at last be forced to shut the hell up and stop using the excuse "it's because we're black." I am all for a woman, black, etc. to be president as long as they are COMPETENT and QUALIFIED. Mr. Obama, however, is not.

    • Posted By: TeamO66 @ 12/10/2007 12:08:34 PM

Phony C. (and Foollady) YOU think anyone on here thinks you have enough intelligence to guage who's COMPETENT AND QUALIFIED? In addition to being a frightened, ignorant hate-monger...you are also a misogynist as evidenced by your reference to both Michelle Obama and Oprah as bi**hes!!! I guess they're nappy headed h*es too, right? People of your ilk are really in the minority and will be left behind when this country begins to truly unite under the LEADERSHIP OF BARACK OBAMA...

If OSammy wins the nomination. I'm voting WHITE

  • Posted By: tgblue @ 12/10/2007 12:06:19 PM

Reading these comments is somewhat depressing, at least those of you who are so single-minded, idiotic, racist, or just down right not very intelligent - I am sorry for you - but I can still have hope for our country! Obama has inspired me and it has nothing to do with his color, gender or who is endorsing him. Yes Hillary and the others certainley have more experience in the "ways of Washington," the corrupt, self-serving ways of Washington that is. I for one am ready for a change and Obama is just that.!

  • Posted By: FUWEI @ 12/10/2007 12:06:18 PM

Hooray for OBAMA, he has relinquised his quest to become the first black American male to become President, and instead advocates that in his words. "QUOTE" WHY NOT THE FIRST BLACK AMERICAN WOMAN??
OPRAH, has said that if she would be elected she would give every black American a new refrigerator
HOORAY for OBAMA and HOORAY HOORAY FOR OPRAH, THE NEW PRESIDENTIAL NOMINEE for BLACK AMERICA Ha! Ha! Ha! GET REAL FOLKS

  • Posted By: raymab @ 12/10/2007 12:05:27 PM

Since it was the day that George Washington was asked to step up to be the Leader of the people of this country, he had persons of celebrity status of our nation to speak for him...it is what has ALWAYS been done. every presidential election that has happened had it's SHINING STARS and HEROES to speak out about their choice. Why is it that so many people take exception to this celebrity supporting mr. Obama? if she had chosen another candidate would we have applauded her? Sure... I , too, voted republican last time...I am no star...but the Republican party was glad to have my "no star" status.......but I learned a lesson, and I won 't be sideblinded again. so come on, America, get over it. Celebrities are people , too

The only good thing about the Oprah endorsement is that a significant woman in America is not endorsing the woman candidate for President. This should tick Hillary off! Hopefully, Oprah will have some influence on all the silly white women in America who dote on her!

    • Posted By: SthrnGuy76 @ 12/10/2007 12:02:40 PM

silly little white women - see right there is the problem. Why does it have to be silly white women, and not silly women. Racial card is sooooo over played.
