oldrod wake up, do you really think that George W. was elected president based on what he knew? If one looks at Oprah's track record, for the last 10 - 15 years she ONLY does what she believes in and not the color of one's skin. Obama clearly is a far superior candidate than Hilary. As much as people like Bill, Hilary does not even come close to Bill. She speaks out of both sides of her mouth, and only makes decisions based upon popular public opinion.

Please supply facts. How is Obama a far superior canidate than Hillary. Please outline his accomplishments so I will understand.

Is this your best idea of an excuse you can throw out there to muddy the waters about Obama? Sorry It aint working. Nobody's outshining Obama. He is more than worthy of Americas vote with or without oprah.

If the Pope endorsed Obama I would not vote for him. Not because he is African-American but because he is the wrong African-American. Ultra Liberal and Anti Military to the Core. Give me Condi or Powell and then we have a viable candidate. Whoever the candidate is, his or her views make the difrerence for me. This is not the time to put a left leaning politician in the presidency. We need a strong leader with Military and diplomatic experience. Our country is at war and I have two sons in uniform. Obama and Clinton are not for me, my family, nor my country.

She only believes in Obama because he is black (or half black for that matter). Obama isn't 'seasoned' enough to act as President of the United States. I just hope most Americans choose the right candidate without looking at their skin color or sex.

OPra would not have indorsed anyone if she didnt truly believe in them and futhmore, Ronald Regan, Gerorge Bush, and a lot of others didnt have experience to run this country

      • Posted By: Coollady @ 12/10/2007 11:55:58 AM

Yes, and LOOK WHAT HAPPENED!!! WHAT A DISASTER ALL OF THOSE PRESIDENTS WERE! (lala4, you need to learn how to spell!)

The presidency isn't a book to be sold.

Excuse me! I'm just a little confused right now. Tell me again, what makes a white candidate better than a black one or a male better than a female? I belive that it was just that kind of thinking that got this country into the mess that it is in now. Perhaps change will bring change. The candidates skin color or gender should mean absolutely NOTHING. It is the person that is most committed to issues that affect each and everyone of us that should matter but I guess, that is only in a perfect world (a world where THE candidate instead of A candidate is selected). It appears to me that the the real issues often take a back seat to little things such as racism, sexism, money and power. Just when I tried to belive that things were REALLY getting better !

Obama next President because Winnfrey recommends him. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!

  • Posted By: angelica915 @ 12/10/2007 10:48:20 AM

the only reason Oprah is backing Obama is because he is black. If she seriously thinks that he will change anything for the blacks in this country, I have some swamp land to sell her.

Her is just as phony as she is.

    • Posted By: Tony C. @ 12/10/2007 10:57:48 AM

Angelica, you go girl. Oprah wants a black man or woman in the Oval office at any cost, even if not qualifed. Race before experience and qualifications! Thinks she's the Demal version of Martin Luther King. NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She's a little backwoods newscaster who got very, very, VERY lucky!

      • Posted By: Coollady @ 12/10/2007 11:14:56 AM

Tony C., I think you hit the nail right on the head.

        • Posted By: TeamO66 @ 12/10/2007 11:51:52 AM

Coollady, I think you and Tony C. represent all that is WRONG with the UNITED States of America!!!

      • Posted By: RDMaryland @ 12/10/2007 11:25:23 AM

Careful Tony C. your hood is showing.

    • Posted By: fafolod @ 12/10/2007 11:22:08 AM

And you are supporting Clinton, Edwards, or any of the Republicans because you are white. This is flawed logic at its best. Would it make you feel better if Oprah was white?

  • Posted By: Sun dog @ 12/10/2007 11:51:22 AM

You've got to be kidding me. Thousands of people didn't fill these events to hear Oprah give a 20 minute political speech. They came because it was about Barack Obama. She amped it up and increased the size of the crowds but Obama has been outdrawing all of the candidates in the race and electrifying listeners for months. There is a reason he caught up in the polls in the early states and it isn't Oprah Winfrey. He caught up in the polls before these events on his own message and the energy he draws to his campaign. The fact that he draws Oprah as well is to his credit. And it's to her credit that she recognized Obama for the opportunity he represents for the country. It's so typical that people would latch onto something like this endorsement to try to diminish the man.

  • Posted By: dotmike @ 12/10/2007 11:51:05 AM

She drove the point home. She made the case authentically that Barack Obama was "the one" to lead this country. I think whether she upstaged him or not, the very thing the campaign had hoped for is accomplished.

  • Posted By: cpridgencamp @ 12/10/2007 11:39:29 AM

Come on, Oprah, you were talking down to the people of South Carolina. In other words you did not enunciate your words like you would on your TV show. Why doesn't anyone call you out on it..

    • Posted By: nap101010 @ 12/10/2007 11:50:29 AM

Exactly! Check out my comments from a few minutes ago. Obama used a double negative as well as slang in the same sentence! That is demeaning to everyone!

  • Posted By: MD_Dennis @ 12/10/2007 11:50:29 AM

MD Dennis, I'm sorry but Obama will not become president for several resons. Obama is weak on the important at hand issues, he's not experienced enough in both domestic and foreign problems, Our Country is not ready for a black president.
Oprah feels that its time to support a black want-a-be president with no real background.
    Keep on dreaming OOOPRAH.
On a more personal note: The networks must have felt sorry for you, Because you are one borring entertainer
If you want to call yourself a entertainer.

It is pathetic when a talking head like Oprah Winfrey has to tell women voters, especially Black women voeters how to VOTE! Just goes to show that so many people in this country are unable to THINK FOR THEMSELVES. I watched on several news programs this weekend how a number of differnt black women said that they were on the fence between casting their vote for the first woman president in history or for the first black president i history, but now that they had seen and heard Oprah they decided that if Obama was good enough for her then he was good enough for them. Pretty pathetic wouldn't you say?

Forget that Obama can't speak for himself, stand on his own record or experience, but has to have Oprah Winfrey come out and tell the blacks of America whom to vote for, and like good little puppet soldiers they fall into line and are ready to cast a vote for the candidate of HER choice.

Well, if Mr. Obama should win, which is doubtful, the one good thing to come out of having the first black man or woman to occupy the Oval office is that finally people like Al Shaprton, Jesse Jackson, and the rest of the black commuinity will at last be forced to shut the hell up and stop using the excuse "it's because we're black." I am all for a woman, black, etc. to be president as long as they are COMPETENT and QUALIFIED. Mr. Obama, however, is not.

    • Posted By: fafolod @ 12/10/2007 11:49:52 AM

But Clinton is? Why? Because she was First lady? I mean she wasn't even that special if Bill was cheating on her. So there were many first ladies. Hillary Clinton knows how to set up a table for a state ball. Does that qualified her to be president?

  • Posted By: Tony C. @ 12/10/2007 11:03:14 AM

Oprah tried to sell Obama like a new car or piece of real estate. Hopefully not too many were in the market for buying, just there to window shop Miss O!

    • Posted By: TeamO66 @ 12/10/2007 11:48:14 AM

Hopefully no one's buying your fear and ignorance!!!

  • Posted By: JGaines90 @ 12/10/2007 11:47:42 AM

john1969 Obama is not the first Black man to run for president. Learn the facts

  • Posted By: hochbob @ 12/10/2007 11:04:51 AM

There is no place in our society for celebrities with a political agenda, unless they themselves are the candidates. I've lost a lot of respect for Miss Winfrey.

    • Posted By: TeamO66 @ 12/10/2007 11:47:20 AM

      She doesn't need your respect!!!

  • Posted By: ryanx469 @ 12/10/2007 11:47:10 AM

Oh, and Michael Vick was guilty of what he did. Animal rights activists react very strongly in such cases, regardless of race. 23 months is hardly excessive.

  • Posted By: JGaines90 @ 12/10/2007 9:51:55 AM

It's rediculous to me all of the people trying to knock Obama on his experience, both Republican and Democrat. When are we going to get into our heads in this country that your political pedigree means nothing, especially when you repeatedly don't have the judgement to make the right decissions. If you educate yourself on Barack Obama you will find that Barack has experience serving the people and not the corporate interests that are abound National Politics. Hillary Clinton has the experience of 1 additional term in the senate and 8 years of being first lady (which nobody knows exactly what relevence that actually has). In this relatively SHORT period of time she has become an expert in appeasing corporate lobbyists and have made them the central component of her candidacy (just look at where her money comes from). Don't even get me started on the Republicans. The only republican who actually is a republican right now is Ron Paul. If you are a real republican you need to bury these NeoCons who are ruining your party's concept of small government.

    • Posted By: kjb79 @ 12/10/2007 11:46:59 AM

I think you severely underestimate the duties of a first lady.

He is the one. Sure seems to rattle a lot of cages that this man has so many supporters who believe in his integrity and trust him to do whats right for our country. I have been a supporter for some time and i am proud that Oprah stands up for this fine man. Seems to be a lot of fear that the people of this country will choose who they want as president and the pundits are losing their control of the message. Baracks supporters are inspired by what can be and know we can have a part in making it happen. No one else comes close to generating this enthusiasm. Last night in Manchester our very popular governor spoke, and two of our newly elected democratic congress folks were there and i can only imagine but surely they must have been some inspired to see 8500 people so enthused about this democratic candidate. So thank you Oprah, and by the way Barack was not outshone they all complimented ea ch other it is after all about getting Obama elected. We are fired up. Patty in NH.
