Really don't see how his religion matters?! If you don't like what he stands for then don't vote for him but if you do then vote! Simple as. Arguing about whether he is is muslin or not is ridiculous! It is narrowminded of people to lump all muslims in the same category- they are not all terrorists or have contributed to the war that is going on. Come on people!

There is something wrong with this picture. Now that we have a black candidate running for presidency, Oprah decideds to step up and endorce him. Hmmm. Now why didn't she endorce Bill Clinton? Was it because he was white? Thie purely appears like a raical endorcement especially when she mentions MLK's speech on living the dream. Does it really take a high profile celebrity to influence the way we vote in America? If so, that is such a shame! We need to listen to what the candidates themselves have to say and pay attention to their debates. I think celebrity endorcements should be left out of presidential races. If these candidates can't make the presidential race by themselves and speak for themselves, then they shouldn't be president!

Sorry it doesn't work that way.....Ronald Reagan was a famous hollywood actor and recieved 90% of hollywood's vote. Come on people focus focus focus....on the facts not race.....

Remember people Obama is a MUSLIM.......who are we at war against?????? Think about it... is that someone YOU want running the USA? I certainly don't. I don't feel he's someone you can trust. He's a cameoleon - he changes his 'colors' too much. We need someone strong, NOT someone who has to hide behind a skirt.

You are a sick and contaminated xenopbobe. what are you afraid of?
Not only are you ignorant, you are not smart enough to realize that this country and this present government still does a lot of business with the Muslim world. First of Obama, was a Muslim and converted to Christianity. But let's assume he is a Muslim, maybe that's all we need to get a better foreign policy and proper dialog with the Muslim world. Discrimination and ignorance will not get you far.....NEVER!!!!

Wow suzette, its scary to me that there are people in America, with all of our opportunities for researching and discovering the reality of matters, who still blindly accept spam emails and tabloid media as undisputed truth... maybe these links will help:

America is so Hollywood. He must lack confidence if he needs Oprah to lead in for him. The average American knows more about Britney Spears/Lindsay Lohan and Paris Hilton than they do about the people who are making decisions for us behind the scenes. They invite celebrities in the campaign b/c they know normal political speeches bore (most) of us. I am 25 and it scares me to think about who will be our "president" in 10 - 15 or 20 years. People dont watch the small debates leading up to the final showdown. We log on the internet, Google the candidates name and let some CNN or MSNBC report influence our voting. Shame on us and our evolvong love for celebrity companionship.

      SO TRUE!!! Great post!

  • Posted By: BBaker22 @ 12/10/2007 2:10:08 PM

All of you racist people saying that Oprah only endorses black people, you are wrong. She endorses causes that she feels connected to, whether the front man for that person is black, white, gay, or whatever. Oprah does not rub people the wrong way, she is successful because she is classy, articulant, generous, gracious, the list can go on and on. Stop pushing your negative thoughts and insecurities off on Oprah and own up to your own prejudice and closed/ small mindedness!

  • Posted By: mtthw @ 12/10/2007 2:03:15 PM

Ohbama lets give THEM a run for THEIR money?? What kind of racial comment is that? If a white man had made that kind of statement all hell would break lose.

    • Posted By: ElliottMMVII @ 12/10/2007 2:09:36 PM

Racism lives because people want it to. It's sensationalized by the media. People spend money to read/see/hear the media. People like to fight. Racism will be around for a long time. Go into your house, avoid your neighbor, and know that everyone is out to get you.

What would it be like if people actually got smart and broke the cycle? Happy but boring? Or is it better to be sad but excited? Gosh, tough choice.

mod 75 - bombing brown people? Your a jackass. Are you including hispanics, and indians and asians and arabs in your "brown people" group? Could you be more general? Let's be productive here, I'm done with this

    • Posted By: MoMoMan @ 12/10/2007 2:07:47 PM

LOL!!! Brown Bombing!! Thats great! All you folks of color need to relax a little. Not everything is because of your color. Its all about the person as an individual. Stupid is as stupid does regardless of White, Black, Mexican, Indian, Asian, Eskimo, and Mix. I know many bright people and seen many dumb ones of all colors and sizes. Must admitt in AZ it is more the brown though- so damn many of you folks! Thats OK though- plenty of room. RELAX!!!

Comment: Sorry about the "typos" before! I try hard not to be racial and to not let race be a factor in determining whom I think is best qualified for anything. I am concerned about a couple of basic issues that have seemingly been put aside for a while. What about Obama's religious background? Since other candidates have spoken so openly about their personal thoughts on this matter, what about Obama? I'd like to know what road he'd be leading us down with that. And what about his family background. I remember hearing about some controversy with his family history that seems to have been pushed aside. As far as Oprah, she turned me off when she made references to MLK's dream and Obama being "the first time" she felt she could support a candidate (forgive me if it's not the exact quote). Is it her first time voting - ever? I thought Oprah was beyond all that. Unfortunately, we'll never get beyond our past with folks like her. Talk about integrity - sounds more like ignorance! Let's give Obama a little more time and a lot more experience before we put him on such a high pedestal and in the position to be the leader of our country. By the way, I'm sure all of this will qualify for a story on "Entertainment Tonight."

    • Posted By: Mike2k7 @ 12/10/2007 2:04:15 PM

It saddens me to know that we still have people like you, who not only reason like maggots but absolutely are so one track minded, narrowly visioned xenophobes embedded amidst us. If any country on the planet can elect Bush and his cronies to run the country; not once but twice, then I can without a doubt tell you that any of the candidates we have today based on what I have seen and read will do a better job; be it Hilary, Romney or Obama. The problem we have is; the more people we have like you in the society; the more difficult it is for us to elect leaders with integrity who will address the real issues like; health care, education, poverty, homelessness, our sickened and truncated foreign policy to mention a few.
How dare you talk about Obama???s background and religion?????? what do you know about him for a fact???? Enough of the racism, It is time to move on from the shameful and arrogant sicko???s we have running this country.
We are looking for leaders to replace these dumb bullies and irresponsible hoodlums. So it doesn???t matter if the person is a woman, black, handicap or different religious belief???.what matters the most is what they have to offer and what direction they???ll lead us!!!
We owe it to the future of the younger generation to elect people who will serve them and not experiment on them!

Opraha should stick to what she does BEST is...her show! I think it is OPHRA that is "star-struck". She is like having a school-girl crush ...looking up at Obama! The only thing these two have in common is the letter "O"!

  • Posted By: totherepublic.com @ 12/10/2007 2:00:11 PM

scholar I was refering to obama not oprah as rookie

  • Posted By: nanis @ 12/10/2007 12:15:38 PM

Oprah needs to stop playing the racial card!!!!! First of all... if she is so American why is she willing to support a Presidential Candidate who opposes saying EVEN THE NATIONAL ANTHEM ON NATIONAL TELEVISION!!!!???? Do we really want a President who doesn't even support the beliefs that this nation was built on!???!!! Whats more important when choosing a president? THE COLOR OF HIS SKIN OR HIS BELIEFS ON HOW TO PROCURE A PROSPEROUS NATION??? hmmm....there's a thinker!!!!!!!!

    • Posted By: Balance. @ 12/10/2007 12:39:20 PM

it wasn't the national anthem, it was the star spangeled banner get your facts straight! You're too concerned with the color of this mans' skin.

      • Posted By: USNavyVet @ 12/10/2007 1:59:36 PM

For a presidential candidate to eschew respect for the National Anthem and the Nation is indefensible. He spit in the face of the country, the people and the men and women who died for this country. The color of his skin doesn't matter, his political motives do. Voting for Obama is voting for someone who does not believe in our country's stated beliefs, standards and motives.

Whom do you want as president. I think some of these people want our country to be absorbed into the 'world government' That scares me.

      • Posted By: zephyr4242 @ 12/10/2007 1:01:22 PM

Excuse me...... What country are YOU from. OUR national anthem IS the Star Spangled Banner.

  • Posted By: suzettecohn @ 12/10/2007 12:55:07 PM

I cannot imagine voting for a canidate who clearly does not respect thiscountry. In his refusal to not recite the pledge of allegience and not put his hand over his heart in love and respect for this country is unbelievable to me. What's even more unbelievable is he is growing in the polls. Wake up people, no matter what else you think, he is and will always be muslim. Scares me!!!!

    • Posted By: staucody @ 12/10/2007 1:58:45 PM

Actually, he's Christian, attends the United Church of Christ in Chicago. He's never been Muslim (even attended a Catholic School). But, that's not the issue, anyway. No president should be elected for his or her religion.

  • Posted By: ArthurC @ 12/10/2007 1:32:18 PM

I wouldn't vote for Obama because of Oprah. Although he was a posible choice before. He should choose his supporters and people who endorse him with a little more discretion Oprah rubs a lot of people wrong and it will rub of on Obama. I think she will hurt him in the long run.

    • Posted By: Scholar of Good In Life @ 12/10/2007 1:58:29 PM

Amazing that your voting choice is changed due to a supporter of Obama. If we would really do our homework/reserch it would be revealed that every candidate that you have every voted for...was supported by someone less favorable to you. It appears that Obama did not have your TRUE support ....originally

    • Posted By: nburton255 @ 12/10/2007 1:51:11 PM

I have to agree with you, because choosing and vote for our future leader is just dfifferent as choosing what cloth or food that we are going to wear or eat. It is about choosing our leader who have skills and abilities to lead this country, so I think there are more than selling product. We need a leader who have vision, who have logic strategy to resolve all the issues that the country face right now.
