lol Colin Powell. That is the model black citizen of most white racists such as yourself. He takes orders without question. He bombs brown skinned people with no problem and he's a member of the most unsympathetic party to African Americans. But guess what he never ran for president and if he ever had he wouldn't have gotten your vote. Guess what maybe if George Bush would have been in a book club and read more books we wouldn't be in this horrible shape as a country. But as long as we have citizens like you we will continue on a downward death spiral from the malignant cancer of racism.

Is is sad to think about about how much Oprah is supporting Obama strictly because he's black. Do you really think she would support a white canidate like this? I don't think so.

It's really sad that racism can block the knowledge and education of some! Before posting please get your facts correct Oprah has supported both Republicans and Democrats during her time. Ronald Reagan for start your biggest Republican to date........................And yes I'am white.......

oprah getting applauses because she believe..s .. i think its a moquerie, using of luther king words and manipulative , but eyy.. politics.. overall her performance has been a new facet that allows the "people" to recognize her as a GIANT> it is up to the "people " to see who they wish to run a country, or a country filled with a new vision run by superstars. .. i do think when u choose a president .it is important how he was raised, what his beliefs are, and what kind of fleas he travels with.
Think of foreign affairs when voting. a woman president would change the world, and its procedures. a black man president that may be muslims or not, certainly would not give the same message at the negocitating table. would have but little impact. because understanding context does not make you a solid negociator, which in my opinion, Obama is not. He s enlightened. but i carry the faith that he s not as strong as other candidates are.

Wow, it's amazing what poeple think, but it is a free country and here are my comments. To the first comment, yes, there is and always will be race issues to everyone, regardless of race, yes "Anglo's" have been targeted in locations where they are not the majority. It sucks, and I wish it didn't exist, but it does. The reason it continues to be the "Anglo" that needs to be careful is what has happened in our history, with many years of Slavery, Segregation, non-equal oppurtunity workplaces. Yes, it's over yes we need to move on, yes some "non-anglo" still use that card and take it too far, but it does have to do with what happened within the last 50 or so years, which isn't that long ago. It's sad, that we cannot look past race, religion, sex, but we ALL, yes ALL need to be sensistive to each other and not to offend people. NO ONE, should be allowed to disrespect any race, even their own.

As for the comment of people voting for him because he is black, I admit, some people will, like some people will vote for Hillary because she is female. There was a funny WIll and Grace episode about that, and it ended up that those people they voted for because of sex or race, were actually horrible people. But you cannot assume that all people will be voting for that reason. I personally have reviewed Obama's stances and have seen that he has been in politics for a good amount of time. Compared to the other candidates, to me, his stances on issues align with mine and he has a honest personality, like the type of person you can trust not to follow the other politicians. When I vote, I don't look at race or sex. If race was a factor then AL Sharpton would have won when he ran in a couple elections back. I didn't even look in his direction, as I could tell, not many people did. I agree Colin Powell would have been a great possible president too. I am Hispanic and I will not vote for Bill Richardson.

Oprah Winfrey has made and overcome 'great' and 'many' obstacles in her life. What we as Americans and other nationalities must realize is that whether you like someone or not based upon their RACE, EXTERNAL APPEARANCE, and all of the other 'silly' aspects that we 'tend' to get caught up in... we need to analyze the good in that person and 'weigh' the factor of: did their efforts/accomplishments of good out weigh their 'mistakes.' I feel that we can definitely state this about Oprah Winfrey. Now for individuals to talk negatively about her endorsing Obama due to 'her Leadership School situation' this is just sad....
She is the 1st person to try to attempt to empower Africa and those African girls attending her school; so why point fingers just because of an incident... Maybe should could have had more security to make sure this type of act would not happen; but yes I do feel that she has the 'right' to expect her staff employed there (Africa) to monitor the well being of that school. She can only be in one place at a time. Lets all wake up and be more realistic and live the way that Christ would like for us to treat one another...He forgave us and he still is doing this graceful act on a daily basics; can we all just do the same when individuals efforts 'transgress.'
    I love Oprah and Obama!!!!!!!!!!!!

I like Hilary and Obama and agree that Obama would be a great vice President to Hilary and then be President later. They have to stop cuttting each other down though. They are both great candidates but I believe it is Hilary who would win the main election against the republican due to her added experience, so I am most likely voting for her. I hope Obama will be her Vice President though. I find it very strange that people are so against one candidate or the other when both candidates have almost the same views on most issues. As for Oprah well what about her. Are people really going to vote for him or not vote for him due to her endorsement. Stick to the issues people and we are going to have a much better America but if you keep looking at superficial things and letting your emotions get in the way, America will continue down the rocky path it is now embarking. Let s try to use our minds when voting. Instincts are fine too but leting yourself be swayed either way by endorsements or petty political gossip is a sad way to go.

I agree with much of your latter (find it very strange...) comments... very well stated! Although, I believe that white america would prefer "a" woman in place of the presidential seat before a black man. I also believe that God is allowing a shifting to take place amongst the people and I know that His will will be done.
Blessings to you and have a safe and enjoyable Christmas.

Why do you all have to be such haters? This is not about Oprah, it's about politics and doing what is in the best interest of this country! Oprah is one of the biggest givers in the United States and she has a right to vote for who she thinks will be most benefical to us all (just as we do) .If she wants to endorse and support Obama, then that is wonderful! She is very wise and obviously knows he can do a lot with helping our country improve. She can't help it that she has a great deal of influence in all of America! And he does not have to depend on her star power to get votes. He's just blessed and highly favored to have her on his side.

  • Posted By: freemethee@yahoo.com @ 12/10/2007 1:30:30 PM

If Obama is to be the Democratic nominee, let alone president, he needs to stoke the emotions of the black community. I take issue with this statment! To become president he needs to appeal to the general public and shine as a model man from middle-america. Who is " bytheway" what our very Forefathers invisoned this country to be a melting pot.

A vote for Obama is a vote for the Republican party....hope you guys are looking forward to another crappy 8 yrs if you vote for Osama...Oops I mean Obama

    • Posted By: labrat07 @ 12/10/2007 1:29:56 PM

Same can be said for voting Mrs. Clinton. She will drive Repubs to the polls in droves as they nearly universally loathe her - and since half the Dems despise her and half love her to tears - half the Dem voting base will stay home on Election Day or vote Republican to send a message..

I think having someone of such influence and wealth, position themselves as a backer of any presidential candidate, in this cas Oprah, will lead to a deteriation of the presidency further than its already corrupt monetary backing would suggest.

I can see a future of puppet presidents, led solely by those more accostomed to a public limelight, as any speechwriter can make an emotional plea to the people given a sociatial dictate of the curret affairs, What will we see of the candidtate when clouded by so much glamour and glitter I wonder?

Nobody can answer this point......51% of America is female, 13% is black. 60% of Oprah's audience is white female. Do you really think that Oprah is on the campaign trail for the black vote? Until you can anser that point shut the F up about Oprah's endorsement being all about the "black vote" or the fact that Obama is black.

    • Posted By: MoMoMan @ 12/10/2007 1:29:41 PM

I can answer your question with something called common sense. Is it just a fantastic coincidence that this is the first time Opra has ever backed ANYONE for President before or is it becasue Obamas views are SO much different and earth shaking that any other candidate to ever run that its worthy of her high power support, or more is it that the opertunity has come to cast support for someone of a similar skin color?? hmmm- doesnt take a genius to figure out- so until you can answer that one- YOU SHUT THE F UP!!!!!

    • Posted By: TeamO66 @ 12/10/2007 11:35:59 AM

They're consumed by Fear/Hate/Ignorance...that's why they don't answer!!!

  • Posted By: john1969 @ 12/10/2007 11:41:39 AM

please the only reason she did this is because obama is black it could have been micheal vick and she would have endorsed hi because of his color she needs to get a life

    • Posted By: blacknproud @ 12/10/2007 12:34:40 PM

She has one....and a damn good one at that! Jealousy, jealousy, jealousy!!!

      • Posted By: Joke @ 12/10/2007 1:29:20 PM

yep, much better than yours. ... Too bad she's a racist, 'Black and Proud'. Just remember whenever you're pro something too much, you're anti something else. So if I were 'Pro-White', I'd be a biggot. If I started a television network that openly catered to whites, I'd be a racist. There is no such thing as 'reverse racism'... . just thought that I'd point that out for you bigot

The world has never change and the realization of it is getting sadder and sadder each day. Opera is a spiritual woman who feels the sorrow of the American people who are suffering directly and indirectly by wars, poverty, greed, hopelessness and so on. These are dangerous time that we and our country are facing, and if a person can???t feel that, then they can???t feel what???s really going on; one must feel the pain in our country to understand why we are desperately seeking change. And if I don???t do anything else in my life time, not my children life time but my own life time! I must do sometime. So I must have the courage to change and bring about change, so I praise the opportunity to support a man who I believe would take the country into another direction. There were two black men who ran for president. (Reverent Jessie Jackson), and (Reverent, Al Sharpton). Opera didn???t endorse or campaign for either one of these black men. Some people will never change and will die thinking that this is all about color, and they will never have the courage to change the inbreeded thoughts that separate them and their children from a great big old world. We all think we are special and think that this is all about us, black and white. I am sorry to let you know that this isn???t about us; this is about a country and a world. Oh and one more thing, for the new kid to come on the block up there on capital hill and to stand against the pressures of every single politician in Washington who voted for the war, and he was the only one that said no to the war. The new kid on the block with the lease experience, who stood by his self against all the politicians on the hill and said NO, because he knew the war, was wrong. The new kid has the heart of a lion to stand alone for what he knew was right . and thats the kind of heart this country needs not the dealing and wheeling of on going connection of special interest group.

Oprah can't even keep her "girls", at her school in Africa, from being hurt. She half-asses everything and expects her staffers to do her work for her. She is a fake, and Americans need to wise up that her personal agenda is going to cost us a lot of money if Obama is elected. Go Hilary!

    • Posted By: reddfoxx27 @ 12/10/2007 1:23:06 PM

What does Oprah school have anything to do with it. First, of all the only person that you can control in this world is you. If you think otherwise then I am sure you are having a long, hard life.

I love the pitter patter of a racists heart when the possiblity of a black president wakes them up like a bad nightmare. A white bigots dream is a black mans nightmare. And a righteous man's vision is a racists obstacle.

  • Posted By: taylormckinney @ 12/10/2007 1:05:34 PM

Suzette, I think that you've received some mmisinformation. Barack Obama did not refuse to recite the Pledge of Allegiance to the country, he did not think that it was always customary to put his hand over his heart during the National Anthem. While this was an incorrect view according to anthem etiquette, he participated in both the anthem and the pledge. Furthermore, not that it should matter, he is not a Muslim. While it should not be a concern about your safety, he is actually a professed Christian. As a fellow Christian to Barack Obama I would sugest that other's religious affiliaion should not matter if you "truly respect this country "and its tenets of both practicing your religion freely and practicing tolerance as well.

    • Posted By: mtthw @ 12/10/2007 1:21:31 PM

Professed?? I can claim to profess to anything to get what I want it does not make it right. As far as I am concerned he is as fake and Hillary and Oprah. I agree with bostonman1 in that Colin Powel would have made a great president.
