Once again we always have to bring race into everthing. So what if Oprah is backing Obama and not Hillary? I'm white and Obama has my support, and alot of blacks especially women are behind Hillary. To be quite honest the mess that this Bush Administration has put this country in, having a black candidate run or even win the elections could very might be our saving grace.

Opra is a little backwoods joournalist/newscaster who got very, very, VERY LUCKY! She is not the voice of moral authority, nor does she speak the truth and only the truth, nor is she a God like the black community makes her out to be. Just a woman who got a break, is very lucky and for some reason and has the ability to get people who cannot think for themselves to follow and hang on her every word. SAD!

    • Posted By: shoptalk @ 12/10/2007 12:22:45 PM

Why are you jealous of Oprah? She only endorsed what she believed? Do we not have free speech? to call her "backwoods" is mean and vicious, there is no need for it. Are you angry because she has so much money and she is black? This country is filled with white people who have tons of money and say and endorse whomever they wish. Why can't Oprah do the same? Yes, she did get some good breaks but for many in white America, "good breaks" is the story of their lives. Believe me, she could not have risen to where she is today if she had not been able to hold her own. You are disturbed because she has so much influence over so many people, including white people. Let's not be jealous, jealously is "rotteness to the bones"

That is not the point! Is it just a terrific coincidence that never in Opras career has she put her support behind a Presidential candidate like she has for Obama who by the way has NO experience? Is it because his political speaches are SOOOO much better than any speach ever by a presidential candidate before or are his political beliefs SOOOO much different than any Presidentail candidate either past or present that Opra is compelled to thow all her weight behind him??? Open your EYES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DOnt listen to moron blackandproud- another sheeple who would let anyone run office no matter how unqualified so long as the skin color is correct. Another idiot who cant see past skin color-

One of the biggest fears in White America is that a Black person will win a position as a top-ranked political power and start persuing a 'black agenda'. Think about it, there has been a white agenda established in America for hundreds of years.. Although they won't admitt it, many of the white brothers and sisters really think that they are going to loose some 'false' image of power and progress if they see a person in power who does not look like them. America has seen more than its share of Presidents who have been unqualified to lead this country. This election is about matters of the heart meaning that the next President has to care for and Love this country and all the people who live here. I feel that Obama is genuine about his message of change. I am open to supporting his agenda because I voted for George W. and have watched him lead this country to a place where have never been before.

    • Posted By: TeamO66 @ 12/10/2007 1:14:55 PM

      TheLoveofMankind,
That was well written, and totally accurate. I said it earlier...that fear is is on a subconscious level and most whites are too scared to confront it, or even admit it exists. Whites are like 70% of the population so why should there be a President who doesn't look like them? It's the Euro-centric way...
As in, why go to church to "worship" a man on a cross who doesn't look like them? I know, let's commission a famous artist to paint a "new, Euro" Jesus. 'But wait, who should I use as my model...I know, I'll use my cousin"!!!

I would not mind having Obama as my neighbor. But I would not want him as my president, because he is a pure liberal, which is a political philosophy that has a proven record of harming the economy, ignoring national security, creating a dependent underclass and supporting legalized murder.

      • Posted By: SIRBOBO43 @ 12/10/2007 12:53:09 PM

        OH YEAH HERMIO,
THE CONSERVATIVES HAVE BEEN SUCH "GREAT " "TRUTHFUL" LEADERS THESE PAST 8 YEARS. HEY, SHY DON'T YOU VOTE FOR "RUDY" AND WE CAN BE IN IRAN FIGHTING ANOTHER WAR BY 2009 DESPITE THE FACT THAT WE HAVE LEFT OUR BORDERS UNSECURED. ANY BIG COUNTRY COULD LAND ON OUR SHORES AND TAKE OUR COUNTRY NOW.. aLL OF OUR TROOPS ARE FIGHTING OVERSEAS FOR PEOPLE THAT DON'T EVEN APPRECIATE IT. OH, AND HILLARY'S "EXPERIENCE" REALLY AMOUNTS TO FOLLOWING THE SHIRT TAILS OF HER HUSBAND.

  • Posted By: mtthw @ 12/10/2007 12:24:38 PM

Why is Oprah now getting into supporting candidates is it because he is black or does she have a crush on the man, it is not becuse he is qualified for the job. She is displaying a blatant exhibition of hypocracy and has diminished any credibility that she may have ever earned with her millions of dollars. I just hope america does not fall for it and put an unqualified man with a muslem background into our oval office.

    • Posted By: jessmate @ 12/10/2007 1:14:47 PM

you have got to be joking....I'm sitting here with disbelief at most people's comments. I'm reading all of these comments ...stunned at the ignorance and stupidity.

    • Posted By: Balance. @ 12/10/2007 12:27:32 PM

That's billions and what does Obama's choice of religion have to do with intelligence? So what if he is black she can use "her" brilliant mind to do whatever she wants....

bostonman - so right you are my friend

Why do we have to make it a racial issue? What difference do it make if she supports Hilary Clinton, or Barack Obama. We all need to focus on what is best for our country, who will be the best leader for our country. That need to be the world's focus, who you think will be the best leader for our country. We are all intitled to our own opinion, but lets not loose focus on other issues, which celebrity is supporting who. Focus on the deceision that you have to make, when it is time to vote for our next president. That is what we the people, the world need to focus on who will be the best canidate to lead our country for the next four years. Let's not make it into a black or white issue, it is a people issue and we the people need to stay focused on what will be BEST for our country.

  • Posted By: lmgzuazua @ 12/10/2007 1:10:32 PM

Oprah can't even keep her "girls", at her school in Africa, from being hurt. She half-asses everything and expects her staffers to do her work for her. She is a fake, and Americans need to wise up that her personal agenda is going to cost us a lot of money if Obama is elected. Go Hilary!

  • Posted By: Truth504 @ 12/10/2007 1:10:08 PM

Irish American's endorse Irish Candidates, Jews endorse Jews, Italians endorse Italians, Mexicans endorse Mexicans, German's endorse Germans so on and so forth. People always criticize the black community for not having enough unity. And then when the black community shows unity it is criticized for being racially motivated. Guess what sounds like the people who complain about Oprah endorsing Barak are the real racists.

  • Posted By: Prosperity @ 12/10/2007 1:09:05 PM

I agree with Musicalethia in his latter comments... very well stated! Atlhough, I believe that Mrs. Clinton will win the election due to the fact that white america would rather see a woman in place of the presidential seat rather than a black man.

  • Posted By: Dreams @ 12/10/2007 1:08:51 PM

If she supported any of the other white canidates would you feel the same way.? This should not be an issue of who supports who. The issue should be what can he do to bring the U.S. back to it's good standing with our allies. Bill Clinton supports his wife; why can't Oprah back Obama? Focus on what is being said from his mouth not who supports him. What people are afraid of is Oprah has the respect of every race and diverse group in the U.S. what could this do to the white vote. People are worried!!

  • Posted By: voice of reason @ 12/10/2007 12:56:32 PM

Of course Oprah has always voted for a "white candidate", when has there been a black candidate that was nominated to represent either party???? The point is that never has she shown SO MUCH support for any other candidate before. In my eyes this is a subtle form of racism....here you have a black candidate and she has gone OUT OF HER WAY to endorse him. Tell me the last time she has done this for a white candidate...I implore you. Racism is a two way street....I live in MD and recently a white girl was jumped by several black teenagers and badly beaten....where are those so called civil rights activists Jackson and Sharpton? Oh that's right she was the wrong color and so are the suspects. It's only racism when a black person decides it is.....subtle or not.

Being "Politicaly correct" means ignoring the facts sometimes and I know exactly where you are coming from. I am so sick of this forced diversity that I can thow up. Belive it or not African Americans and Hispanics are not the only race that is "sensitive" we ( White Anglo)are just as "sensitive" as any other so called "minority" groups- as a matter of fact in AZ whites are now the minority. There will be race issues until the end of time, I am just tired on my kind having to be the only ones "sensitive" of everyone elses color. Having a different skin color does not make you a victim or noble.

Having a great orator as a president would be nice for America, although I worry that his fiscal policies will drive America farther into debt. Big spending in Washington must stop.

  • Posted By: kitkatgirl12 @ 12/10/2007 12:48:45 PM

like who else would have went to Africa to make a school for black children, not Hillary. If you wonna get racial

    • Posted By: suzettecohn @ 12/10/2007 1:05:29 PM

I understand Oprah has given a lot to make a school for black children in Africa and I think that is soo noble of her, but, what does that have to do with Obama and his presidency? This is America! If he can't respect this country and say the Pledge of Allegience maybe they should run for president of Africa!!

The world has never change and the realization of it is getting sadder and sadder each day. Opera is a spiritual woman who feels the sorrow of the American people who are suffering directly and indirectly by wars, poverty, greed, hopelessness and so on. These are dangerous time that we and our country are facing, and if a person can???t feel that, then they can???t feel what???s really going on; one must feel the pain in our country to understand why we are desperately seeking change. And if I don???t do anything else in my life time, not my children life time but my own life time! I must do sometime. So I must have the courage to change and bring about change, so I praise the opportunity to support a man who I believe would take the country into another direction. There were two black men who ran for president. (Reverent Jessie Jackson), and (Reverent, Al Sharpton). Opera didn???t endorse or campaign for either one of these black men. Some people will never change and will die thinking that this is all about color, and they will never have the courage to change the inbreeded thoughts that separate them and their children from a great big old world. We all think we are special and think that this is all about us, black and white. I am sorry to let you know that this isn???t about us; this is about a country and a world.

I am so proud to be able to see in my time a man of humanistic deplomacy. Obama represent in every exspect what a man truly mean in this political arena. We as a people need his leadership to enhance our future. Continue to "rock Obama"!!

    I Care

  • Posted By: MD_Dennis @ 12/10/2007 1:01:51 PM

Obama is certainly not a true American. His heart is with the African nation.

  • Posted By: dcarter26 @ 12/10/2007 1:01:42 PM

It should not matter who is endorsing this man, what matters is how he will be as our president.... not even Oprah can make sure he will be a good one.

  • Posted By: BSHOMO @ 12/10/2007 12:07:07 PM

As an African American woman, I have a problem with the Oprah endorsement. I suppose all the previous candidates that ran for the Presidency were not good enough to get her endorsement!!! Why endorse one when he happens to be Black. I might be wrong, but it looks like race has a lot to do with it. Let's vote for the best candidate and leave race out of it. Just because he is Black, doesn't guarantee him my vote. Oprah's endorsement means nothing to me. My needs and her needs do not come close.

    • Posted By: TeamO66 @ 12/10/2007 1:01:12 PM

      BSHOMO,
" I suppose all the previous candidates that ran for the Presidency were not good enough to get her endorsement!!! Why endorse one when he happens to be Black. I might be wrong, but it looks like race has a lot to do with it. Let's vote for the best candidate and leave race out of it."

That's exactly what she's doin' ...sista!!!

    • Posted By: Gams3468 @ 12/10/2007 12:12:39 PM

      I agree 100%!

  • Posted By: bluethunder1962 @ 12/10/2007 12:59:52 PM

I'm not sure the point was proven that Oprah outshone Obama. I didn't get any real specifics as to why, other than Obama was painted as a man-child (?) As to the comment a member posted about Obama being Hilary's VP - she could only wish for that. It's all moot anyway as in a national election the statistics are showing that if Hilary goes up against Huckabee she will lose and we are looking at another 4 year haul with the GOP in the white house. Don't have any nightmares about that scenario. Keep on uselessly obsessing over Oprah endorsing Obama. Cheers!
